Nice video, Max! I have owned and flown an Eclipse jet for over 11 years. It's the same configuration as the one in your video. You absolutely nailed it when you stated that you have a grin on your face every time you fly it. I've been flying for 50 years and have flown many types, but, like you, this is my favorite. I pinch myself every time I fly it and never forget how fortunate I am to be able to do so. It's the perfect personal jet.
It seems like every pilot who flew the Eclipse loves it! But there are a lot of people out there who only heard stories about Eclipse and spread a lot of negative myths about it.
No, @stresswes, I have never been AOG due to lack of parts in the 12 years I have had the airplane. The new owner has done a great job getting vendor relationships back on track.
I remember sitting in one of these in Oshkosh 2005 I believe. Great to see that there still is a more up to date version of it available. Great alternative to a C510 Mustang.

CJ4, Hondajet- have a soft spot for long range efficient light jets. And Niche type, Hawker 400, Citation II SP that have sort of unique mission profiles. You've done the premier one. Mustangs seem to fit a neat role as well. Great flight review video in that.@@MaxJetRev
Super review. I have flown a 550 for 6 years and 1,000 hours. It has been a tremendous personal aircraft. I have had 2 AOG episodes. The part situation has improved substantially. To upgrade in capabilities I would have to double my costs of both capitol and operating expenses.
Thanks for sharing your experience! That's much better AOG statistics than in a lot of comparable airplanes. Out of my experience I get most of AOG's in Premiers.

Seems like you departed from KFXE. Worked at a really shotty FBO there back in 2015. We had an eclipse stop in and it was my first time seeing one up close. Really cool machine and the cockpit is perfection!

In the past couple of years so much airport real estate was developed, that it seems like runways are at capacity. Two brand new FBO's in OPF and the olds once are building hangars.

Best eclipse jet video I've seen- even better than the ones made by folks trying to sell you one. I like that you pointed out the only advantage Cirrus has is their marketing team. Why anyone would want an underpowered single engine jet baffles me.
Marketing works… People buy jets based on emotion vs common cense. Anyone familiar with jet basics would understand that jets reach efficiency at high 30’s and 40’s. SF-50 has turboprop performance.
@@MaxJetRev I would argue that SF-50 is lagging to turboprop performance. I'd rather have a TBM or Pilatus for 50 reasons than a Cirrus jet. I guess that is why there are so many Cirrus jets for sale....
@@unpilot1 anti throttles are cool. Antilock brakes are not that big of a deal in the Eclipse since it touches down at a speed of around 80 knots. Unless you go really crazy on the brakes it’s hard to skid.

I am astonished that transitioning pilots need not have an multiengine rating in order to get type rated in the Eclipse. Where can I look this up to read for myself?
If you get an Eclipse type rating you will get multiengine rating limited to centerline thrust. Eclipse has been made with safety in mind to be pilot's airplane. It's almost as easy to fly as SR22. What is your current aviation experience?
@@MaxJetRev ASEL plus Instrument Airplane, 408.5 hrs total time, mostly in a G1000-equipped Cessna 172 (rented). Not a lot of aviation experience, but I've covered the basics. My next step would be transition training to an SR20, if only I could find one locally for rent, and with air conditioning (extremely hot where I live until November). Plenty of Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilots in my area, so that's not an issue. And I still find it hard to believe that the asymmetrical thrust associated with flying an Eclipse with only one operational engine does not require the training necessary for a traditional multiengine rating. It's not a Cessna Skymaster or an Adam 500. Hard to wrap my head around this.
@@aaronmuller5891 you can do four normal size adults and full tanks. Remember this airplane is approved with 6 total seats. In the video 2 middle raw seats are out.

What would be the seat pitch for a 6 seat configuraton? Still pretty comfortable? I suppose carrying 6 humans would cut into your range quite a bit one of these.

Probably Garmin G3000, 100 lbs more thrust per engine (which engines are capable of after FADEC system update), extra fuel tank and FL430 certification 😅
All inclusive (fixed & variable) is around $1100 / h. But as you probably know, it will depend heavily on where and how you do the maintenance. If you go to the big name shops they will bill the hell out of you without the added safety or quality benefit.

Unfortunately, flying is *very* expensive here in Germany, as in, "with my disposable income I can afford 2 hours of flying per month". I've just been watching premier1driver a lot and I think his digital checklist is rather efficient, checking the items with a button on the yoke. I have to admit, I've been writing checklists for my work (in IT) and they're more convenient on paper. Most of them got automated away, though. If I can make a checklist, it can frequently be automated and the computer is even better at following checklists than a human... ;-)
Vern NEVER owned a Cirrus. He owned a Constellation, a B-25 and a Beech Duke. He flew Paul Allen's Cessna CJ1 for Vulcan Investments which introduced him to the advantages and efficencies of light jet travel.

Eclipse concept is very well thought out with modern user experience concepts. A lot other manufacturers forget that easy to fly planes are safe and instead use off the shelf solutions from older planes with 50’s tech. Hopefully the new Eclipse owners will be able to restart production and make some cool upgrades to the plane.

Thank you. You need to get an instrument rating, preferably in SR22 to get use to higher speed. Once you have private pilot and instrument rating it would be nice to etc get 200-300 hours of real world experience flying a Cirrus in actual IFR, cross country flights etc. Then you may begin Eclipse type rating training. Multi engine rating is not required. What’s your current experience?

Original Eclipse had Avydine, then switched to IS&S. Versions 1.0-1.7 had GNS400 for navigation, but it was connected to Avydine or IS&S.

Cirrus are amazing planes, but I've heard that the re-packaging of the parachute is insane and the delay is just nuts !

It’s not. In my opinion is too crammed. You would have to crawl to every seat other than 2L. Five is doable.

The eclipse has fans,,, however would ultimately like the EA 700,, extended version of the 550..
Unfortunately I don't think it will ever come to life. It needs to much re-certification work (cost) and relatively small market.
What does the Eclipse lack? Anything?

No checklist on the glass cockpit... surprising, considering the high level of integration.
It has a check list on MFD. It’s not convenient though. Does not have a designated scroll wheel. What do you fly?

Thank you. You need to get an instrument rating, preferably in SR22 to get use to higher speed. Once you have private pilot and instrument rating it would be nice to etc get 200-300 hours of real world experience flying a Cirrus in actual IFR, cross country flights etc. Then you may begin Eclipse type rating training. Multi engine rating is not required. What’s your current experience?
