That was great! Nice job! I felt like I was flying that plane! I deal with a lot of skydivers at my home airport also. What a beautiful airplane. Thanks for the ride!
Tom Norton one of the best instructors I have ever had. I'm still flying occasionally the Eclipse base out of McAllen, TX. I hope to have the opportunity to say hi again Tom Jaime C
Yes. Early in the video Tom Norton explains that with the gear down and engines at idle it simulates the approximate descent rate when both engines are lost. (the engines still produce some thrust even at idle so gear down helps to offset that). Thanks for the question.
Eclipse Aerospace has built a dozen or so that they call the 550 (but in the eyes of the FAA it is still certified as a 500) since taking over. They will cease production of the 550 if and when their new version of the aircraft which for now is named project Canada becomes certified. Here is a link to their website. They say they will continue to support the existing fleet www.oneaviation.aero/canada.html
yes I got the scoop they are doing the old serial numbers but have built NO NEW aircraft may be the manufacture but have not manufactured any new AC to date to my knowledge
Thrifty, I was at an Eclipse fly-in over the weekend and had an opportunity to visit with Justin Beitler who has a company called Hey John, yes feel free to send them my info. This gentleman may be confusing a couple products from EAI/ONE.. There are several products which are based on refurbished Eclipse 500 aircraft (i.e. Total Eclipse and Special Edition were/are both based on refurbishing an Eclipse 500 and they retain the original 2007/2008 C of A date..), however the Eclipse 550 is a new aircraft which receives a new C of A date. To give further detail, some early 550's began with fuselages that were partially constructed years ago and have remained on the production line. All 550's after serial number 1001 use entirely new fuselages built by ONE Aviation. In total there have been 28 deliveries of 550's with 9 deliveries using 100% new fuselages (i.e. serial 1001 and up). For those unfamiliar with our firm, Aerista is the world’s largest broker of pre-owned Eclipse aircraft. By utilizing the unique talents of our team members we have created a proprietary database which tracks the configuration and value of every Eclipse 500 and 550 ever built. This specific focus and expertise allows us to understand the unique aspects, and ultimately the unique value, of each aircraft. Aersita offers both brokerage and buyer assistance services, aimed at helping buyers through the process of finding and acquiring a turbine aircraft. Excellent dual engine loss simulation and excellent pilot and instructor team.

Thanks benny! it's always a great learning experience with Tom Norton.
Had Tom for my initial check ride flying a 1.3. Very fun and thorough. Nice videos!
Tom is probably the most knoweldgable Eclipse instructor out there! Thanks for the comment!

Nice landing! Awesome instructor!
That will wake you up! Nice job. And you got yourself a great instructor as well!
Beautiful!
Great training! Good pilot!
GREAT JOB
Great job!
Thank you abqcleve!
Nicely done!
Dual engine failure a non-event? I don't think so.
Why the landing gear down? Is that to counter idle thrust?
Yes. Early in the video Tom Norton explains that with the gear down and engines at idle it simulates the approximate descent rate when both engines are lost. (the engines still produce some thrust even at idle so gear down helps to offset that). Thanks for the question.

WOW. This must be tough to control the jet for right-handed people like myself. I would probably prefer to sit on the right.
Nice flying. Dual engine failure is a complete non event in this airplane. Just find somewhere to land and stick it there!

Thank you!

is the Eclipse supported by anyone at this current time?
Yes. Eclipse Aerospace has morphed into a company called One Aviation and they continue to support and manufacture the Eclipse.
Think they have NOT built any yet since the 500 correct?
