Parky asked a question, then listened to the answer and then followed through. A rare occurrence in those days, even rarer today. He was thorough in his interviewing and was thoughtful in his line of questioning. He interviewed the greatest people of the era. We won't see his like again, or indeed theirs.

he was the King of chat show hosts - he had guests from all areas of entertainment - Muhammad Ali, David Beckham, George Best, John Lennon (& Yoko), Fred Astaire, Jimmy Cagney, Billy Connolly and countless others - His Saturday night shows were the highlight of the weekend - he gave his guests free reign to express themselves and thoroughly immersed himself in the moment. Suck a sad loss to the world of entertainment - Condolences to his family and friends at this time. R.I.P. Michael - you were and still are the best.

His '70s shows were the best; Orson Welles, David Niven, Gloria Swanson, Jimmy Cagney, Fred Astaire. He got to meet so many of his heroes, the like of which we shall never see again.
Parky said there was an audible gasp from the audience when the peerless Jimmy Cagney appeared. Such magical names. He once said he had to pinch himself:" this can't be happening...you just don't meet these people". What a treasure trove of an archive to preserve...

Given that we all must die at some point, I somehow evaluate the worth of a person by the legacies they left behind. In the case of MP, I think he has behind the legacy of being an extremely polite person, a consummate professional and one who was obviously dearly loved by his family. Of course, we feel sad for the loss; but we should also feel very happy that we were around at the same time as him and were able to enjoy his work.
Good choice of tea bag i must say Mr Parkinson. Good ole' Yorkshire tea.
