  • Maoerduo is a specialty of Shanxi Province in northern China. Similar to Italian orecchiette, they’re shaped like cat ears, which is why in Chinese, they’re called, well, cat ears.

My in-laws are from Shaanxi, they have something similar called 麻食. It takes an entire afternoon to prepare because you’re kneading each individual noodle by hand. It’s absolutely delicious, it’s like mini gnocchi, tiny spoonfuls of flavor.

It would be nice, for us older viewers, to either put the captions into larger print, or translate into English yourself, and let us hear you tell us what is being said.
I'm sure some people will hate that idea, i too love to hear what the shop owners are saying, in their native tongue. But man, so much is lost, because my old and tired eyes just can't make out the tiny print, anymore. =/
Regardless, i love this channel, and will continue watching till the very end...because it is *that good*! ^^

This one makes me so hungry. I'm rewatching these, and it's so cold right now, I want one of those clay pot bowls. So delicious. I love that these shops keep using the exact same recipe with high quality ingredients, and customers are loyal because of that. People want their food to be delicious and constant. There is a huge comfort in that.
