So the oil drain bolt wasn't on tight and it backed out? That sucks. I usually change the oil myself because I tend to buy bikes that have been sitting, but not always.... I've bought a bike and then ridden it 50 miles home before going over everything. My uncle had a drain bolt fall out while riding cross country. It was pouring rain and he was focused on other things, not the oil light that I can only assume came on. No idea how long it took but riding with no oil eventually destroyed his engine and put an end to his cross country adventure. It didn't catch fire luckily. Some random shop he found while on his travels had done the oil change. Not sure if he contacted them afterward to let them know what happened.
Glad everyone is OK. Safety wire is never a bad idea
