Macedonian Struggle song - Jaunty Stout Hearted Men [English Subs] Λεβεντιά Καμαρωτή

Macedonian Struggle was a series of social, political, cultural and military conflicts that were mainly fought between Greek and Bulgarian subjects who lived in Ottoman Macedonia between 1904 and 1908. Secretly the guerrillas were supported by Greece and Bulgaria and Greeks or Bulgarians from various areas came to aid the two sides. The conflict was ended by the Young Turk Revolution in 1908.
• Gonos, mentioned in the song is Gonos Yotas, a Slavophone Greek insurgent leader in the Giannitsa area who played a great role in the Macedonian Struggle. Due to his endurance and knowing of the Giannitsa swamp he got the nickname "the swamp's ghost". He got killed by an Ottoman ambush in 1911.
• Vardas, mentioned in the song was the nom de guerre of the Hellenic Army officer Georgios Tsondos. Together with a group of Cretans he participated in the Macedonian Struggle.
• Pavlos Melas, mentioned in the song was an officer of the Hellenic Army and among the first who organized and participated in the Macedonian Struggle. He was killed by an Ottoman ambush in October 13, 1904.
• Mallias, mentioned in the song, was the nom de guerre of Stephanos Doukas a fighter who took part in many battles in the Macedonian Struggle.
