20-30 years ago people would have laughed at the thought of this, its an amazing time to be a bass player, but it always is. The majority of people consider it a big violin and can't do much, well there is your answer people. Magnificent.
I tried sight reading this today on bass and it didn;t go well, so I went on youtube and found this (I am in 8th grade and have been playing for 4 years) I got to the part where there is the scale in 32nd notes to the very high g and couldn't do it lmao
I don't understand how you got so good in thumb position, I can never feel that comfortable even when I do what my teacher says and play closer to the bridge and use more bow. My fingers are still fumbling around never quite completely in pitch.
Your fingers need to get stronger. I am not a teacher but in my experience to get a better sound in thumb position try playing loud with the bow without worrying obout the bad sound at the beginning. Try what your teacher says playing loud in different places and different weights until getting the sound that you want. Simply try and try without worrying about the bad sound, like when you were a beginner kid.
Not to steal any of the glorious fire from this performance but I don't think any music l lovers will regret watching Marie-Elisbeth Hecker's Cello rendition of this piece also on TH-cam.
If you mean C-G-E-A, perhaps. I don't know about that even. A lot of the intervals that he's crossing strings to achieve are correct for a bass tuned in fourths. He might be tuned in fifths as you suggested, but my best guess is that he's tuned in fourths but has the entire bass tuned up. Possibly A-D-G-C? I don't know tell me if you find out
oh youre naming them high to low, I dont think so, its way to high pitched for just solo tuning. I bet he"s tuned up an entire fourth or something like that.

I don't understand Lithuanian, but hey, this is the first comment on classical music I've ever come across in that linguistically interesting language.

Incredible playing. There are so few bassist that would even attempt this piece let alone perform it flawlessly!
How many people in the world can play like this? The articulation, the sound, the consistency. All of it is insane.
Virtuoso indeed! So clean with the gargantuan shifts!
🤗 yep, it costed lots of work
I'm a cello player and this was an awsome performance!
I have no words Mr Paradzik.
What can I say.....Awesome? Brilliant?....Words can'r described how good he is....
Thank you for your great work.
wow Maestro!! Bravo Bravo.....es stimmt alles bei Ihnen. Deutlicher Ton und Sauberkeit.....ich gratuliere mich
Clearly the very best bassist in the world.
The performance has truly amazed me so much!
Beautiful singing tone from a Double Bass!
Paradzik, you are the best !
Beautiful
Sounds better than majority of the cello's that i have heard play it :)
that trill at 2:14 was nuts.
love the piece with double bass. Very refreshing.
The better I get at bass the more I realize how insane this is
haydn's best work and the best bassist performing it
how he plays this piece without missing a single run is really beyond me
lovely Cadenza.
Thanks you very much Mr Paradzik

Absolutely perfect! Wonderful!
Thank you so much
Incredible!!!
so good, beautifully sounds!
Bravo !!!!
Outstanding!! Really beautiful and well played.
Великолепно!
Это можно сравнить с исполнением Даниила Шафрана на виолончели
Fantastik playing!
bravo pour le cadenza!
Need to start learning the double bass
Strangely enough I can hear the sound of the bass viol in this - especially in the cadenza.
BRAVO!!
Veliki pozdrav Bozo!
It's amazing!!!! Bravo!!!!
All I can say, is that your amazing
Perfect!
I know that this was 5 months ago, but he is tuned up a fourth as you said. He plays with a high C.

STRAVA!
Eita há onze anos
This sounds like a mix of the vanhal and dittersdorf, hope its not just me that thinks that :P
Its better to say that Vanhal and dittersdirf sounds like Haydn))
Well dittersdorf did play with Haydn often so that would make sense
wow i like it very much
I like his hair
Great! Beautiful, outstanding. If you are using "scordatura", ¿In what tonality are you playing? (fingering)
Scordatura only changes the open strings. You are still able to play in any key and tonality. Hope this helps. :)
Shrish J. Thank you J. Shrish, :)
Suppose, its tuning is E A D G
No

Yes it is, from low to high ADGC
oh youre naming them high to low, I dont think so, its way to high pitched for just solo tuning. I bet he"s tuned up an entire fourth or something like that.
strong pinky !!!
@DerangedRanger1 LOL ! nice one
slay
what tune are you using?
와씨 카덴차ㄷㄷ
Bass tuning is C-G-A-E?
This is not fair, double bass Is an instrument for thumb?
Its fair
He's probably in solo tuning. That's A E B F#.
rapfan228 no it isnt its orchestra tunning but with a high C string without the low E string
C-G-D-A high C tuning. Fifth tune.
Maybe it's better then capuçon's performance
Certainly the facial expressions are better!
sound is really like a cello not like a double bass
It's definitely better than Yoyo ma's version of the hydan
laaaaaaaaaa cago! que chucha hago ahora cuando toque de nuevo el contra? cualquier wea es charcha al lado de esto
@celloshredder96 grow up, child!
