The music is one of the major highlights of this game. I’d argue that it might be the greatest soundtrack for a game based on how well it fits the theme.
Infamous 1 is one of my favourite games of all time, played it when i was kid, ive never seen an open world game more grittier than this with gta4 being a close second.
The game was one of my first experiences of darker comic stories. Most superhero films didn't cross the 12A rating at the cinema.
The tone definitely helped InFamous to stand out at the time. I think it took some inspiration from The Dark Knight Returns among other stories.
My dad introduced me to infamous when I was 5, its been 10 years and no other game has come close to infamous in my books, I think there is just something about coles story and how grim the story and setting is. Really wish they'd remaster the first 2 games or make another one.
I agree, the first game is the best for me as well. A remaster would look pretty awesome running on the PS5. Though at the same time, developers can get burned out working on the same franchise for too long. Halo under 343 Industries is one example.
@@CainageCritique Infamous 2 is my favorite in the series and unfortunately it doesn't look like they will do anything in the infamous series any time soon. for some reason it just feels like they want to forget it.

What I look to get across with my retrospectives is how a franchise evolved and changed over time while looking into the strenghs and weaknesses of each release.

Imagine how cool second son would be if the evil ending in infamous 2 was canon
I bet you it would have taken a more post-apocalyptic vibe. The remaining humans barricade themselves in the remaining cities.
Then the good/bad karma choices would involve either defending the humans or joining the conduits to destroy them.
I feel delin if the main character would be been in a human safe zone where in the prologue it shows how shitty life is then the beast attacks. Delin is a conduit and gets recruited by Cole the karma choices are you deciding to be an angel of devil on Coles shoulder slowly becoming the new zeke to him either helping him keep what humanity he has or helping him along the path of stripping it all away.

@@CainageCritique awesome man, i love this retrospectives, because, in my youth, i could afford consoles and their exclusives, my main has always being the PC, and in my adulthood i have being emulating all the PS2 i couldn't play, but with videos like yours i can experience this exclusives in a very in deep way, so thanks you.

Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed it :) The Mafia series is tricky; I'm sure I would enjoy it a lot, but many commentators, most notably Noah Caldwell-Gervais (one of my biggest inspirations) have already said a lot about the trilogy.
Could I add anything that hasn't already been said? I'm not sure. At the moment I've got a Tomb Raider retrospective in the pipeline as few have done a video featuring all twelve games.
You should analyze prototype as well as it has its own way of doing the super hero free roam gameplay, even though it's a spiritual successor of hulk ultimate destruction
That's actually a good shout. Folks don't talk about Prototype so much anymore. It'll be interesting to look into why it went down after two entries.

Unfortunately Prototype 3 won’t happen because they disbanded Radical Entertainment who were the ones who made Prototype

Its worth it. In my opinion the ps3 was the best system in the ps franchise. Infamous 1 & 2 are the best games on the ps3 as well. its worth all the money.

Personally I play good cole in 1 then carry on the save and play bad cole in 2 I like to think that the destruction of Empire city turns him into the brutality hero Kessler wanted and in doing so Cold no longer cares about collateral damage as long as he kills the enemy's before him he then sides with the beast as that is the for certain way to save as many people as possible and he distrust anything related to the first sons or Kessler. Kessler by turning Cole into the hero he thought he should be ends up turning him into what he feared most.
That's an interesting take, as if Cole went mad with rage from losing Trish in the first game. It's good that the games don't stop you from changing moralities after carrying the save data over.
Everything from this franchise rocked my world
While I agree the story of second son isn’t as good as 1 or 2 I think it’s still solid. A little underdeveloped? Sure but the story it’s told is still good and the important characters get their arc handled well. Could it be better? Absolutely but I still stand by this game has a solid story
