    I definitely prefer the bombastic late 90's Digimon-esque edge of the original. They just seemed to have gone 'all out' to make an epic with what they had at their disposal. The latter two semed go focus in much more on cute & sweet themes and aesthetics with an overall softer look including pastel colours (although to be fair part of that could have been an extension of the "clean & minimal" futurist aesthetic of many early 00"s games). The music however is decisively less awesome in the latter two and I can't imagine as much love having gone into them...

    • @TroyS-x6x
      @TroyS-x6x 9 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      To be fair to all later entries of the franchise, the original -as timelessly awesome as it is-was released very late in PS1 lifecycle for a new franchise and as such was kinda doomed to only sell relatively poorly. So it's no wonder the later entries never had the same budgets or studio prestige behind them.

      I agree, there's something about the more edgy late-nineties techno style that stands out a lot more. 2 and 3 kind of took the easy way out with a more cartoony aesthetic.

    I do enjoy seeing Overlord content as I enjoy the games very much. As someone who has replayed the games recently it does get a bit tedious to listen to the plot points being listed off one by one. A few more jokes would probably work to break the monotony as your dry delivery is fairly humorous. One particular aspect I enjoy is the retrospective on the controls as I used an controller as opposed to mouse and keyboard.

    I would respectfully disagree on the point that the Departed’s longer run time enhances the tension. The original is far more interested in the personal hells the two leads are in,due to living double lives. The remake wants to be a sprawling, complex mob drama - introducing entirely new (but unnecessary) characters and expanded screen time for characters that didn’t need it (of course, you don’t hire Nicholson to be the mob boss and not give him a meatier role). The extended run time would have been great if Scorsese had stuck with the 2 leads and glimpses into their private and public personas - but he used it differently.

    I didn't grow up with them, only knew Armageddon growing up, but I absolutely adore the 3D worms games, they're everything that I used to love about the 6th gen. Amazing pleasing graphics, tons of fun weapons and tools, a freeform sandbox that feels more like a toybox than a set in stone game...And of course, local multiplayer! I'm fond of the later worms games too, but I wouldn't mind a new 3D worms games...Golf with your friends, overwooked and the other Team17 games are all amazing too.

    Some fans speculated that Overlord III could have focused on the first master escaping the infernal abyss and going head-to-head with his son, but it wasn't to be. One item I forgot to mention: Overlord II introduced a target swapping system that was controlled with the Z and C keys on PC. But it doesn't work very well, often getting stuck on two to three different targets and not allowing you to swap to others.

      That's the heart of the series right there; placing the characters in such a bleak and unwinnable situation despite having the best training and equipment of the time. Depending on the viewer, the monster can act as an extra layer on top of an already grim sense of dread.

    I’m gonna have to give this show a thumbs down. I really really wanted to like it, I did, but I had some pretty big problems with it. 1) it just didn’t feel like the arctic. Time and again I had a feeling I was watching the portrayal of the arctic in a closed set. I’m sure there were some outside shots, especially when they got to the rocky areas, but they needed to send this crew up north and just brave the elements for awhile. 2) the monster. I was hoping for half survival movie, half monster movie, but the monster isn’t really in it that much. And of course, when it was it was 100% CGI, no practical effects whatsoever. Couldn’t even be bothered to make one paw for a closeup scene, or something? Nothing seems more real than good practical effects, except a real monster, of course. Coulda added a lot to this movie. 3) The very tiny amount of likable characters. What were there, like…5 actual good hearted sailors in this movie that didn’t do some kind of scheming or sedition, out of over a hundred? Obviously my disappointment comes from hoping for one thing and getting something different, which is going to bias someone’s point a view. A movie about this group of guys banding together to fight seemingly insurmountable odds would’ve been my preference. I could say more on this, but I feel like I just wasted 10 hours instead of watching something more to my liking. Different strokes for different folks I guess, as it’s clear a ton of people liked this show, but in the end I gave it a dislike, when all was said and done.

    Good video. Serious and profesional, I like it. I really can't pick a favourite tittle. I'm one of the few (or at least it feels that way) who enjoyed the classics back in the 90s-2000s and the survivor, reboot trilogy, but I always pick a favourite of each era. For me, Tomb Raider 2 is the best of the classic era, Underworld from the legends saga and Rise of the Tomb Raider from the survivor saga. I dislike Tomb Raider IV and V, trying to kill Lara Croft was what made me step out of the franchise, not returning until Anniversary. IMO Tomb Raider IV was a bad game made out of spite, hating the players, the characters and the saga alike. It was an attempt to murder the franchise, to kill Lara Croft and her legacy, and Chronicles was a contractual obligation, a souless corporation product. However, Anniversary made me regain my deep love with Lara, and the reboot made a fan once more, I loved the survivor saga. And the remaster made me remember why I love Tomb Raider in the first place, every jump and shootout brings a happy memory of my childhood, and a hope for the future of both the franchise and it's main protagonist, the queen of this industry.

    It's so interesting that Shadow is a culmination of the trilogy that truly takes a lot of feedback to heart and becomes the best of both classic Tomb Raider and Modern Tomb Raider. Challenging stealth and combat sequences, as we've gotten used to from Rise, paired with really solid puzzles required to go through the story. It becomes especially great when taking all the optional and DLC tombs into account, some real gems in there. My favourite is the howl of the monkey gods, it's so incredibly clever to have a giant killer orchestra to traverse.
