    "He did WHAT?!" is probably the best reaction to any catch ever at any level of football.

  • @Thechad201

    Al Michaels: ...incomplete. We're getting, he made the catch at the 15, what are they going to rule, that he caught it?! Touchdown!...HE DID WHAT?!
    Joe Buck (if he was announcing): Incomplete. No, caught. Touchdown Packers.
    that's why Al Michaels is a great announcer.

    Still remember staying up late with my dad watching this game when I was like 13 and couldn't believe it. You know its a good play when 10+ years later you remember the exact memory of what you were doing when it happened.

    • @Tyrunner0097
      @Tyrunner0097 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same. I was 12 and I still remember we first groaned at the apparent drop, then we saw Freeman get up and run in and we were both cheering and in disbelief that he caught the ball. The shot of the ref laughing at the play was what I remembered the most about that

  • @Caulkkain365
    @Caulkkain365 10 ปีที่แล้ว +39

    Best catch ever. You know the people saying Beckhams is better because it was skill, just proves the point of why it wasn't better. Now if they didn't show OB in pregame or at practice making that same catch minus falling backwards of course, that'd be different, he practices those kind of catches, you can't practice what Freeman did, the awareness and concentration to grab it inches from the turf, after its almost picked off. Then, the wherewithal to get up, put a move on the defender trailing the play, and scoot into the end zone

    • @bobanderson1053
      @bobanderson1053 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      so because he practices catching the ball, anytime he makes an unbelievable play it's somehow less of a catch? No, you can't practice what Freeman did, because it was luck. Other than being aware enough to reach his arms out and grab a ball dangling in mid air, hardly any skill. OB's was nothing but skill. These two plays aren't even comparable.

    • @Bob4Lakers3
      @Bob4Lakers3 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Beckham's was impressive because it wasn't luck.

    • @jameslane9537
      @jameslane9537 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This one is one of the greats, but my favorite Al Michaels call was actually in a preseason game. The Broncos had just put their 3rd and 4th string in on offence.
      Al Michaels: "And this is the point where they put guys out there so they can try and impress other teams"
      *Broncos QB proceeds to throw an interception*
      Al Michaels: "And that will impress no one..."

    Thank you for posting this. I'm a huge Packer fan and I remember this game like it was yesterday. I was 19 years old in Navy "A" school in Pensacola, FL and I was the only one at the "E" club watching this game. An old Chief from Minnesota came in and started watching with me. When Freeman crossed the goal line, I looked over and the face the Chief had is something ill never forget. Great Packer moment.

      I was watching the Super Bowl and thinking the same thing, that the "catch" in that game does not even come close to Antonio Freeman's. It did remind me of his slightly but the way Antonio got up and left everyone behind was like poetry in motion.

    It can also be said that Antonio Freeman was open to assistance from one of the most unlikely sources, and accepted it gracefully. There is more than one life lesson here. What a catch!

    It was a Gold package game. I was there. The Packers were heading towards the hallowed South End Zone during this play. It was drizzling on and off during the game and the rain really came down during OT. We were all soaked, but it was glorious! FYI, I delayed surgery to see this game. My test results prompted the doctor to call me on Friday for surgery on Monday, but I said I couldn't miss this game! Had surgery on Thursday instead & lived to tell this tale. Won't ever forget this game.

    Kind of the norm seeing the Vikes blow another lead like this. It is actually nice to see the Pack choke as they did in the NFC championship this year. Packer fans do not handle it well, however. Not to mention, go back and look and some of Cris Carters catches during his career - I'm sure Carter had some spectacular catches as well. #GoBackHome!

    I was at this game - it happened at the other end of the field - couldn't see it when it happened, too far away, but when they showed the replay on the big screen the place went nuts. I love it when we beat the Vikings.

    0:03 Al Michaels: Farve... lays it up for Freeman, and it's incomplete. Or did he cat-- he made the catch at the 15? What are they going to rule it, he caught it?! Touchdown! HE DID WHAT?!
