I'm the same about Christmas. Thanksgiving is all about the fall harvest. I don't decorate for Halloween as it's not a favorite holiday of mine, but I do decorate for fall and it stays up until after Thanksgiving. Then I need a break, so I don't put up Christmas until around my birthday, which is December 8th. I also don't take everything down until New Year's Day. If I put it all out now, I would be so sick of it that it would lose all meaning to me. When I go to other's homes for Thanksgiving and the Christmas tree is up it seems so odd to me, lol.

You definitely aren’t! If my kids had their way, we would’ve decorated right after Halloween, but I told them that I needed a breather! 😂 I told my oldest, Avery, that we could go shopping for some Christmas decorations, so I think that helped hold her off for a bit!

I’m so glad about what you said about holiday decorating. Nobody loves Christmas more than I do, but in the last few years, all of a sudden November 1 is the ‘holiday season’. It used to be starting Black Friday. Now people can decorate and do whatever makes them happy, but I hate that even the news reports it as though it’s always been this way and it absolutely has not! Makes me crazy lol
You’re right! Something has really changed within the past couple of years. Like within the past five years, the holiday season has definitely creeped up! It’s hard, because like someone else said, the holiday season is so short that you want to enjoy it. Not to mention that I found with my kids getting older, they get more excited for Christmas and they want it to last as long as possible and decorate early. So I have been more torn lately, but I still need a breather after Halloween.

Hello from the North Pole Alaska. And yes girls Santa's house is about 4 miles from mine and the reindeer school has been very active. You can check it out at Santa Claus House Antler Academy. Jamie if you put a command hook on the stainless vent you could hang wreath up there. It would be safer then behind gas stove top.

Remember there are tabletop wreath stands you can use if you don’t want to hang it on the wall / door. Can do that with special ornaments too. Jamie- I have to share this… my 4.5 & 2.5 yr old nephews came over to my house this afternoon & the older one is a super picky eater. Well, he was hungry & I had kodiak vanilla buttermilk protein waffles in the freezer per your recommendation and he LOVED it. I sent a box home with my brother for them 😊

My youngest child is at a tough age right now, and we have been dealing with fall sickness. So, sometimes it is nice to watch your videos to see that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Not that I don't cherish every day with my little ones, but dang I am tired.

Last night and today I packed away my Halloween decorations and am putting up my Thanksgiving decorations. Lol. My husband and I host Thanksgiving so we hold off decorating for Christmas until the weekend after Thanksgiving. By that time, I’m itching to get my Christmas decorations up! I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! It definitely is hard to hold off! I think for me it’s easy to hold off, but with my kids getting older and chomping at the bit to decorate for Christmas, it’s gotten harder for me. I’m sure it will continue to get harder as they get older and more excited.

I agree! I think with kids now, they love any holiday, especially Christmas. So I’m always torn because the Christmas season does go by so quickly and I hate that because my kids love it. Hi Jamie and girls! Always love the motivation, thank you for that. I’m actually pulling out Christmas earlier than normal to see what I have too. I wouldn’t put wreath directly above stove due to grease and yes probable fire hazard. You could do a command hook on the range hood up higher-might still get grease though. What about pantry door or door to garage 🤷🏼♀️ just thoughts. I’ve used baking soda & hydrogen peroxide paste on shoes and then cover with paper towels and set out in sun to dry and it’s worked. (You can google that) Have a great week! (Oh and feeling fantastic and seeing 20/20 2 weeks after Lasik now. So excited!!)

I'm totally with you on holidays and kids. My 2 yr old went trick or treating for the 1st time this year and granted it took a few houses for her to get what to say and how it works. By the end she was doing it all by herself. Made my heart so happy. We went with my 8yrs old best friends family. We had a blast.

For my 7 year old sons Vans, I use DAWN power wash! Let it soak for a few min and then scrub lightly with a toothbrush and hot water. Works amazing! I also scotch guard ALL his shoes which goes along way to keeping them clean.
Use shaving cream on shoes. Foam shaving cream, let it sit for a while, and then scrub with a brush/rag and some water. Shaving cream is just concentrated soap.

I was taking down my Halloween and my family went against me and started putting up Christmas and I had to fix it all because lord they were really messing it up in hopes I would want to do it. I totally understand wanting a breather! But that's what make you real and reliable! I've seen TH-camrs putting up christmas before even taking down Halloween decor. That's crazy to me! I love ripping down my decor and having a clean empty house!!

I am excited to see you decorate your new home. Of course with not decorating last year I would have also forgot what I had. I usually start decorating outside sometime before our Santa Claus Parade which is the Friday after Remembrance Day here in Canada then I start on the inside. It's a big job with just me but I really enjoy it once it's up and all those lights in the snow-- magical 🥰🥰

Hi Jamie! You are not in the minority when it comes to decorating for Christmas. Let’s celebrate each holiday on it’s own! Halloween then Thanksgiving THEN Christmas. My fall decor incorporates Halloween (very little since we have no kids at home) and Thanksgiving. I start decorating for “fall” in September and it stays up until the day after Thanksgiving. Then a good clean and I start bringing out Christmas. Love watching your girls. The smiles make my day 😊 Here in New England we had snow the day after Halloween. Our temps are similar to yours. Dug out the winter jacket last week!!!

I’m so in love with your new house and was so excited when you moved, as if I was the one moving! 😂 I’m also not ready to decorate for Christmas yet, though I am generally early in the decorating game, this year feels too early even for me.
I have an idea about the wreath: you could use it as a centerpiece, over a circular tray, and place a candle inside it. Love the idea of it behind your stovetop too.

Your girls are just the cutest! Great video. I'm not ready to decorate for Christmas either. I usually decorate the day after Thanksgiving. Although, I am excited for Christmas this year with our granddaughter. She'll be almost 17 months at Christmas.
