My 2023 bought in October 2023 has 57703, and today I change the oil on my own. Amsoil 0w 20 with amsoil oil filter, and nissan copper washer. Actual cost is 61.23 u s dollars. Thank you for the torque spec.
Thank you so much for doing this video I just got a brand new rogue 2 months ago and I like doing my own oil changes. This is the first video I found for the 1.5 liter turbo thanks!! liter oil change, thank you much.
Very straight forward and to the point especially resetting oil life. Just purchased one. This will help me out so I’m not going in blind folded. Thank u
My new Rogue is due for its first oil change and since I do my own oil changes, I wanted to see how to do this Rogue. I was a bit anxious, but no longer after I watched your video. I just subscribed, hoping to get more videos from you because you are good at what you do in terms of not rushing, explaining and showing good camera views. Also, this is the first video that I found that is so detailed and good camera action and to my level of learning. Thanks.
@@dial2fast I did the oil change today, easy peasy, the splash guard was easy to remove too because I followed your directions. Learn from your experience, I put the oil pan in place, no spills :).
BTW, if you don't have a torque wrench, you can just feel and eyeball it. It has a mark from the factory on the bolt and pan, so you can just feel when the washer is getting crushed and then line up the two lines. Easiest to see with an open ended wrench.
Absolutely do not eyeball it with these vehicles. You really do need to torque down the specific vehicle to the correct torque value. The inserts in the plastic oil pan will fall out with the drain plug and you will need to replace the whole entire oil pan.
Thanks for video..except of the 16 plus clips and the 2 10mm botls to remove the rest is pretty standard why couldn't Nissan just make a plastic shield with access holes?
@@devondelgado1818that is a terrible idea. People think they’re so bright when they recommend to remove a belly pan, but it’s probably the dumbest possible solution that can be recommended. If 15 clips and 2 bolts bother you that much, you’re just another lazy mechanic in the industry.
@@PlymitBoy first of all I was talking about doing it to your own car not a customers car. Secondly why can’t Nissan just make an access panel with like 2 clips. And there is like no benefit to having that stupid piece of plastic under the engine, what 0.2 mpg. And I’m not a mechanic fyi.
How long do you think those plastic clips are going to last? My guess, 2 or 3 more oil changes and they are shot, disappointing to see that Nissan makes you go through so much trouble just to get at the plug and filter, should have had a flap in the cover with a quick release mechanism to get at the underside for oil and filter change. All filters should be on top of the engine so that when you stop the engine the filter drains back to the pan, much like Subaru does with their engines. Also disappointed to see they make you use synthetic oil, that stuff is really pricy most places. Oh well, I guess that is the price of progress, really enjoyed the video, well done, thanks for making it.
@@douglasdever6134 What data do you base your reply on? How many removal/installs have you done? Why would I want to go through the hassle of having to replace something that other vehicles don't use and their owners don't have to worry about replacing? Be real.
@dial2fast Thanks for the video. Picking up a new 2024 Rogue this week. With all the splash shields can someone show the garage jackpoints with locations for the safety stands for this Rogue? I typically use the engine cradle with the jack, and stands under the pinch welds, can I get a jack on something in the front without removing the large splash shield?
I own several floor jacks and jack stands, but when I do oil change, I always use ramps. It's safe, fast, and easy to use. Just drive up on the ramp and do the oil change. For this Rogue, you have to remove the splash shield to access the drain plug and oil filter. I use my floor jack and jack stands when I do brakes.
Great detailed instruction as always. How do you like it compared to the older CR-V you had? The new oil filter location is great because the older Rogues had it near the passenger wheel. Some minuses though, with all of the plastic clip and composite oil pan.
The Rogue is a much better riding car than the old CRV. The new Rogue is quiet, smooth, plenty of power (with the turbo engine). I have always liked the way Nissan car's drive.
With the Nissan copper crush washer, yes you need to replace it because it's a one time use. The washer will not crush further the second time you reuse it, and therefore won't have a perfect seal. They are really inexpensive. You can stop by your Nissan dealer parts department and pick up a dozen for like 0.15 each.
Hi there, thanks for your comment. I typically film maintenance videos of my car as the service are due. Being so new, it will be awhile before I am doing a coolant flush, but when the time comes, I will film it.
According to the manual showed the spark plug is LMAR8G8GS, but I can’t find the correct one for NGK spark plug to meet this 1.5 three cylinder engine. Do you have any suggestions for this
I just checked that PN, and from what I can tell, it appears this NGK spark plug PN ILMAR8G8GS is specifically made for Nissan, and if want to buy it, you will need to buy it from Nissan PN 22401-6RC1E. So you can go to your Nissan dealer service dept and order/purchase it there. The price should be around $25. The good thing is you only need 3.
It would be common sense nice if they would develop an easy access door for changing the oil. Since it will be one of the only things you can and need to do for these vehicles?
Its also common sense that the more tedious/complicated you make the process, the more likely that someone will bring their car to the dealer for an oil change instead of DIY.
hi I have a question when I use the link for the oil filter it says that filter doesn't fit 2023 nissan rogue sv 1.5 turbo. others sales says this Oil Filter15208-9E01A fits this car ? could make sure if this is correct ? im trying to do it myself too and this video is really good
Hi , first let me thank you for this high-quality video. Second i'm from Europe and i bought this summer a Nissan Rogue with the same engine. Here is N America, most people including dealers will change the oil every 5000 miles. I know the Rogue has some internal maintenance minder that specify changing it every 7500 miles. But it's your car, service it however you want to. I would not go a 9000 miles between oil change. That oil will be very dirty.
@@dial2fast thank you very much for your response, also want do you think about this engine i know that in america and asia is use since 2017 but here is brand new i’m a bit concerned about the reliability.
Since I also own this car, I also hope the engine will have no future issues. I do have a friend that work at Nissan, and he told me he has not seen any issue with this engine. They could have used a better design for the shield with better materials, like using metal, then had a smaller opening. Instead, they chose the cheapest material possible and used cheap plastic clips to hold it all in place. All about saving a buck.
I'd like to point out that they always say to change the oil a 5000 mi. or 6 months. My opinion is to ignore the 6 months. Oil has been in the ground for millions of years, it's not going to go bad just sitting in your car.
Appreciate the tutorial, but its funny that its coming from someone where its clear they haven't changed the oil on a Rogue before, lol! I did mine and didn't spill a drop. I do wish it was like a Mercedes or Subaru with the oil filter on top of the engine, then you can just use a vacuum pump and never have to get under the vehicle at all.

18 plastic clips and 2 bolts just to get to the drain plug and filter. What a terrible cheap design! Someone should come out with a modified splash shied that has a separate cover for the oil filter/drain plug one for the transmission drain plug.
