My grandma wasnt violent during the dementia but the things i heared/seen in her last ~3years was one of the worst and weirdest things in my life......she had her "normal" moments (in this moments she actually cried alot) but 80-90% she seemed insane In a time span of 2 years she completely lost her mind, from a strong and loving woman to a lost soul....if i get dementia, i hope to realize it early...will end it with a 12gauge directly to the head
My Grandpa had it too, but when ever I visited he was just sad he used to always make silly jokes but he just stopped and always sounded tired, I heard stories from my mom after she visited but thank God never saw them in person.
Just now realized the"she knows" part was most likely the demon/spirit talking about Deb realizing she was possessed and the demon/spirit was trying to kill her to keep from telling everybody
How would the spirit achieve its goal if it killed her though? The anthropologist said the spirit could usually only take a distressed/weak minded person.
@@twopeople158 ah I gotcha thanks - but even then why was the spirit still able to do that once it’s body was burned? Going off the witchdoctor story from the anthropologist burning the body was what freed the possessed person - just seems a little weird - what’s the point of burning the body if it still possesses people?
@@BlindBison How I perceived it, she indeed burned it but then threw it in a hole which exploded. We didn't see wether it was burned completely or not. My guess is it didn't and that's how the child was posessed after.

It was so refreshing to see a character in a horror film actually leave due to the weirdness going on and behave in the way the audience has been yelling for them to do, as opposed to staying because they: ‘Need the money’ ‘Must finish the project’ ‘Must help’ Or flat-out be in denial and hoping for the best! One scene you showed from the hospital gave me an unexpected kick in the emotions as I got a virtual rewind of something that happened not so long ago...
characters who nope out of obviously shit situations that are gonna end with someone being sacrificed to satan are always the best characters. if only because every other character is so clearly brain damaged.
Still doesn't explain why the little girl got possessed. She literally has nothing to do with anything, since she was obviously meant to be the fifth. Only the old woman had anything to do with the spirit, so unless it's a spirit that jumps around in bodies and who then attempts to mortally injure those bodies, the villain setup doesn't really work in this film. Also, how was the little girl's mind "polluted" - wouldn't a form of hypnosis/mesmerism be more in line with the entire snake demon setup? And would that be an implanted suggestion that led to her "secret plan". All of the sacrifices were adult women as part of the story, so the little girl doesn't really fit into the requirement for the ritual. Does that mean the girl carries the spirit, or is the more horrific outcome going to be that she is already doomed; and how exactly will that resurrection ritual actually work, since the entire idea behind immortality is that you stay you physically, otherwise you're just a spiritual hitchhiker/parasite. :/
@@sigmacademy FYI: A human spirit cannot do things he/she couldn't do during her/her life, except for vanishing and going through objects. A human spirit cannot possess anything nor anyone. A demonic entity on the other hand, can do so. Also, a person that has no will of his/her own, no consciousness cannot even be possessed by an entity because the entire goal of the entity is to make that person fear and have the feeling he/she is doomed and God cannot help him/her. That is impossible to happen with a person that is not in any kind of mental state where there is still some sort of will/consciousness. But I suppose any horror genre fan already knows this way too well, sorry for repeating it.
My grandmother has dementia and when i first watched this movie i was initially really bothered because I was under the impression that this was just a film equating dementia and Alzheimer’s to possession and horror... then i realised that the movie is just a case of someone with dementia also being possessed. Ill say from first hand experience with being with my grandmother that a lot of the things Deborah does (towards the start of the movie at least) to be pretty accurate, and it’s heartbreaking. Alzheimer’s and dementia are both horrific diseases and if you know someone with it, please give them respect, love and patience.
@@teacoon6399 that is no reason to be pro-euthanasia as that is meant for people, who are literally on the verge of dying or in extreme physical pain and so on. Also, if you had alzheimer's you would not be in a sane enough state of mind to agree to it anyway
Relic does the whole thing much better. Is this film scarier? Probably, but at the end of the day it's just another possession movie and is another entry into films that demonize mental illness. It's no wonder people either laugh or even abandon those with mental health issues when Hollywood seems determined to turn them into either something to be feared or simply spouts misinformation. I can't remember the title of the video but it had millions of views and it was this guy who CLEARLY had either schizophrenia or dementia who was just going completely nuts on passerby's and some kid was filming it and laughing. Almost EVERYONE in the comments section was making fun of the man in some way but as someone who has had many of my long time relationships with friends and family destroyed by my schizophrenia that took quite some time to get under control all I could do was sit there and feel terrible not just for him (here's praying he never sees the video and comments as that can destroy a person) but stare in disbelief at how it's 2021. We've supposedly come to understand mental illness and try to help but when given the veil of anonymity that the internet provides people are just as judgmental and demeaning of mental illness as the days of Bedlam and the "lunatic" asylum view points.
@@Laura-vs6fs You do know that pain can be more than physical right? Have you ever actually seen someone with severe dementia or Alzheimer's? Because it is a TERRIFYING existence and full mental anguish for the one with it and anyone trying to do the right thing and helping said person. Sure early on that might be a drastic step but in late stages of the disease the person can live in a constant state of extreme panic attacks brought on by their failing brain. I see no reason why only physical pain should be gifted the ability to get out while someone who is trapped in a seemingly never-ending mental hell prison just has to deal with it as do those trying to aid them. As Yuto said there's no reason you couldn't set up a legal documentation before you progressed too far to be liable for your own actions saying that if it gets that far then end it.
9:46 this is actually suprisingly normal for an alzhimer’s patient, my great grandmother had it and my family was told to not bring any flowers or anything because they had just lost all sense and knowledge of everything, and would try to eat the flowers
@@katc2040 They are like brainless people. I am not saying not to look after them, I am just saying there is no use to struggle with them in your own house, risk even of being attacked or killed, but instead put them into a home with specialized medical care.
Honestly, the use of possession and “taking” metaphor of Alzheimer’s is one that is very hard hitting. Literally your memories and life are taken and you become this shell of the person’s former self. It’s a terrifying to watch especially from a caregiver’s standpoint and is one of the most mentally taxing thing watching a family member slowly lose themselves. I really like the slight mention of how sometimes patients have recovered memories later on in their diagnosis and it is often a traumatic memory like abuse, a death in the family or witnessing something horrible. This and their stress from the disease causes them to lash out and freak out. I’m witnessing some of these symptoms with my grandfather and let me tell you it’s a horrid thing to witness, like the not recognizing yourself when in the mirror or when showing them footage of an episode.
One thing I always think about when they have movie doctor's doing their assessment, if a patient starts hurting themselves this way, it's straight to a jacket and a psych ward, who sends the patient back home.......
I mean I worked in an assisted living and there was one time that we sent a patient out with possible broken ribs/shoulder and they got sent back with acetaminophen and we were told they were just old. So we tried to get through a day and sent her back cuz she actually couldn't move and then they did X-rays and found broken ribs and a broken shoulder and were like no that happened between the time of her first appointment and the time we sent her back sooooo it's not that impossible
@Razol My mother works with patients who have Alzheimer's and she has described some horrible things close to flesh tearing off. Its so sad, sometimes they truely dont know whats happening.
The Catholic church is very reluctant to do exorcisms in the current day, since they have had bad results in the past, and led to bad press. But no priest would call the rite of exorcism "science fiction." Demons, demonic possession, and the power of God to drive them out are articles of Catholic faith. They're in the Bible. A priest denying them existing is like a priest saying he doesn't believe in God. It's more likely the priest would offer a more generic blessing, and refer to his superiors in the Church if he truly believed demonic forces were at work.
I always hated when movies ending with the villain winning. They uncovered how to fight back, go through hell and see this old woman's ailing health. The pediatrician wins no matter what, despite his body being burned.
You’re right they should’ve won but they do the whole “oh no the villain might be alive still” trope just in case the movie gets really popular or makes a lot of money and they want to make a part 2 so they can get even more cash out of it.
Some horror movies, if-not many of them have that trope of the villain winning, surviving or getting away with murder (unironically). It may be for marketing reasons at the end, but it still gives you that reality where no matter how many thing you do to defeat "evil", that thing will still be there, whether be one that survived or one that is developing anew
The trope is called horror. The villain winning is the staple of the genre but it's not required. It's the anxiety that the characters actually lose for once that you dislike.
I work in the dementia ward at a nursing home. I’ve seen some wild, scary shit. But there are people that have been there 10+ years and now finally are in the final, lethal stages
I actually just finished watching the movie.. I don't get the point of these videos. He "explains" the movie by just telling you exactly what happened frame by frame by frame. What purpose does it serve to retell the story I just watched? In my opinion these videos should be labelled summaries at best and even then I think that's a mischaracterization.
This is one of my favorite horror movies of all time, in large part because of how sympathetic Deborah and Sarah are. The scares are smaller but so effective, which serves to emphasize the one CGI effect later (which made me turn my light on the first time I saw it). It’s a perfect horror movie to me: sympathetic characters, good pacing, really good acting, and legitimate scares.
My dad had one but they fucked it up and too much fluid left his brain cavity causing it to sit on his skull. That’s how you get the most excruciating migraine of all time. 0/10 would not recommend
Old people make me feel sad too. When the old lady got scared in flowers in the attic i wanted to help her. I just really love my grandma i think and would hate to see someone so miserable who i love so much.
I remember actually being decently creeped out by this movie - not only is it spooky, but it's sad too. I felt so bad for Deborah the whole movie, and it really sucks that she didn't get anything close to a happy ending after all that suffering she went through. She was just a little old lady, and neither she nor her loved ones deserved that nightmare. Definitely made me feel some type of way, which is rare for a horror movie!
Her happy ending was that she saved her daughter. It does suck that she got worse, herself, but she technically did complete her mission. I felt super bad for her, though.
This movie was terrifying for me. My grandma had dementia and looked very similar to Deborah, as well as having a lot of same mannerisms. Some dementia suffers were happy all the time, not my grandma. She would read messages off blanks wall, see people that weren’t there and have conversations with them. She became very angry and would accuse us of all sorts of random things like stealing her jewellery etc and as a younger child it scared me a lot. Watching this movie gave me a lot of flashbacks

First thing that came mind when i saw the fit was Mr. Rogers vives.
Seeing her become a snake demon goes far beyond "just a possession".
That is some doomslayer level scifi bs.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia is exactly why I’m pro-euthanasia. I’ve literally made a suicide pact with myself if I ever get it, that’s game over.
@@teacoon6399 that is no reason to be pro-euthanasia as that is meant for people, who are literally on the verge of dying or in extreme physical pain and so on. Also, if you had alzheimer's you would not be in a sane enough state of mind to agree to it anyway
@@Laura-vs6fs I’d say that it makes sense, and maybe if you could pre set it by law it’d work
Relic does the whole thing much better.

That’s why if I ever get the diagnoses I’m killing myself. There is absolutely ZERO reason to force people to live with this.

I don't ever think I've heard a priest say no to an exorcism because it's "science fiction" lmao
At least in a horror movie setting. I think nowadays the church is kinda embarrassed by them which is sad for the ✨possessed✨

I think his corpse wasn’t completely destroyed, it was just blew into pieces. And the doctor mentioned burning it, but I could be wrong.
@@Khp_Gll where I draw the line tho is with kids, they could have atleast made it so the girl wasnt possessed or whatever, she was truly innocent

This movie was terrifying for me. My grandma had dementia and looked very similar to Deborah, as well as having a lot of same mannerisms. Some dementia suffers were happy all the time, not my grandma. She would read messages off blanks wall, see people that weren’t there and have conversations with them. @@mongoloid-leper oof! I thought he was wearing like old age makeup because he looks so young and energetic in his other vids.
Listen, putting *that* scene as the thumbnail... you really woke up and chose violence 😭😭
This channel is perfect for people like me who don’t always want to get scared but are interested in the story’s the movies tell I watch horror movies every once in a while but not often so this is a great channel for me
Top 2 favorite found footage movies are: "Grave Encounters" and "As Above, So Below"
I know they're supposed to be scary but the dialogue is just too hilarious. Always makes me laugh.
Those are pretty damn amusing. The ones that really crack me up are The Conjuring movies, they’re so ridiculous that they feel like slapstick.
The first Grave encounters almost had me convinced it was real when I was young. But the 2nd and 3rd really were the epitome of shitty cheap horror lmao
@@mook_butt8037 complete honesty... The Conjuring was the first movie I saw in theaters, that actually made me scream. I got to see it at a prescreen like 4 months before release and they really set the mood lol
@@Whispergryn Wait there was a 3rd one?! The 2nd was trash
The conjuring was made in my state and I always hated dolls imagine how I felt when my little sister gets them
This movie is literally Orochimaru's past life long dream in live action LOL 🐍
And he got a girl again too
Big Deborah was Orochimaru’s bride
😬
Can you please explain the ending of Anything for Jack? The ending was complicated.
The title is "Anything for Jackson". Terrific movie!
Bro like how do these people stay in that damn house after even seeing her bruh come on son
Yeah I would’ve dipped so quickly lol
"Due to Deb's" sounded like "Doo-Doo Debs" and I cracked up, I'm sorry
Americans don't realise how funny their accents are lol
