  • Lightroom Mobile is quickly becoming one of Adobe's strongest offerings. The Creative Cloud 2015 Updates have been some of the most important CC updates that Adobe has released and mobile is a key part of this.
    Adobe have been working hard at how we use mobile and the integration with the desktop apps is probably the best that I've seen period. In the past I've viewed mobile imaging interesting, but only suited for Instagram or other social media sharing. Lightroom Mobile has changed that for me.

    Hey Ted, thanks for showcasing mobile editing. I actually run workshops on smart phone photography and post processing. Most just want good pictures from their mobile phones while others use it for their businesses and want decent pics to share on social media. I've actually done quite a few commercial shoots for clients only using my iPhone, as well as account take-overs to improve client's branding and increase followers. Not every business can afford an afternoon shoot with a Canon 5D, L series glass and shooting only RAW files with 3-4 day turn around on images. I shoot on my iPhone, take decent images for social media and websites, edit in my mobile phone, upload to my Dropbox account, and the images are ready for my client within hours (or sooner) of finishing the shoot (examples on my IG account). As for other mobile apps, Camera +, PS Express, Snapseed, VSCO, Darkroom are all good apps to work with jpegs. I have yet to play with Lightroom Mobile but it looks like a powerful tool.
    Keep up the good work and thanks again for doing a mobile app episode.

      The Art of Photography ha ha, thanks. You should come up to Vancouver and we can shoot an episode together. Maybe we'll bump into Herzog, seriously. At minimum, we'll bump into someone who either knows him or has seen him recently.

    Hi Ted. Great video. Would love to see some videos where you showcase more of your own pieces and discuss the process/intentions behind them. You have a great rapport with your viewers and I think a lot of what is behind the success of your channel is your accessible and familiar personality, which I think fosters interest in your own creative journey. Cheers.

    I've been really enjoying the massive update to Snapssed V2.0.
    Yes it limited but for fast simple edits it a great app.
    What really makes it great is the inclusion of non destructive edits, layers and layer masks. You also got spot removal, dodge & burn and a bunch of other controls.
    If they would just add some other basic features like hue, colour overlays, gradients. I would pay a bit for this app.

    If you put a preset in Lightroom on your computer, can you use that on the mobile app?

    It helps me a lot by means of watching your video, mind if i may ask, what version Lr app you have because it's totally different from my Lr app on ios version 2.7.2
    I am a newbie using this app and which is i really love using for editing. I want to learn more. Wish i could hear you soon. Thank you and have a nice day.

    It's actually starting to grow on me ;) The latest updates have really improved it. I enjoy it more on the iPad though vs my Android, and maybe that's because it's a tablet experience vs phone. The screen is larger too and I think that's the sell. However, the updates have made it much nicer on my Galaxy Note Edge. I can also use my s-pen with it.

    Interesting, thanks Ted.
    I have and would have not even considered using this for serious work. I am curious how the experience of syncing and the weight of files has been on your phones if you're doing this with a larger, more realistic sized set of photos (say 100+?). Also curious if your custom presets and things like VSCO if you use that in Lightroom can be used or is it the fixed set that Ted shows? I could of course look this stuff up but I'm sure others are wondering here as well.

    The color and curve feature have not made it to the android platform yet. I wish they would give a sharpen and filtered/gradient option on mobile. Maybe soon!

    Ted, great vid. I found it searching for why Lightroom mobile doesn't let you batch edit when that's arguably the biggest selling point of Lightroom. I'm always on the move and it's easier to get clients photos moving them straight from cam to mobile and link to client. Yet you have to copy paste adjustments. And I still can't believe that you can't use your presets on mobile. I had to make a workaround collection with all my presets and copy paste from there to get my look. Then manually go from photo to photo pasting the look. This is absurd. I love what adobe is doing, but so frustrated at this oversight. Am I missing something here?

    What about once you're done with the RAW file edit with Lightroom Mobile on you iPad and you want to clear up space?
    My question is because I often shoot RAW+JPEG, when I import the files off my SD card via the card reader, (I believe) it takes both RAW + JPEG together. But, when you see it in your camera roll in your iPad, you only see 1 image.. now, if that's the RAW or JPEG represented, I really can't tell, there's no indication to tell me. I assume it's the JPEG since the iPad may more likely take jpeg files to show than the RAW. Either way, once I'm done with the image file and it's been synced and transferred onto my main desktop with Lightroom, I want to delete it off my iPad.
    Is it as simple as going into camera roll, selecting the image, and deleting it? And, when I do that, whether it's the JPEG or RAW I've selected in the camera roll (again, I can't tell which file is being represented in camera roll), will the corresponding file also be deleted, as well? As a reminder, looking in camera roll, you only see the image once, you do not see the image twice (as a raw file and the same image as a jpeg). If I select and delete it, sure, it deletes it, but as I know it, I had originally imported both jpeg and raw files, that is 2 files. How do I know for certain I deleted both together?
    I believe I currently do not see any way to check inside my iPad if there's a raw (or jpeg) file of this 1 image floating around inside.. and, when I connect my iPad to my PC computer, I also have no way to see all the images stored in my iPad to confirm if all the images files I wanted to be deleted were in fact actually all deleted.
    I really want to delete both JPEG AND RAW of the same image off of my iPad to be sure I don't hog up memory unnecessarily. I'm working on an iPad 2, so as much resource as I can free up, the better.
    Hope you or someone in the community have an answer to this.

    What's your opinion on Capture One Ted? I recently started using it and I think it's so much more powerful than Lightroom and giving me much better results. There is a learning curve, but the more I learn, the harder it is for me to think about going back to Lightroom.

    I have just found your channel and very impressed.
    I am seriously disappointed with Lightroom Mobile. I have no issue with Adobe extending the Develop module to the mobile environment, despite the fact that screens are not calibrated, mice or wands are not accurate enough, screens are small and totally unusable in bright light, etc.
    I am disappointed that Adobe have almost ignored the Library Module, in particular the ability to edit the important metadata fields such as Title, Caption, Location and Keywords. This is where an Ipad can really be useful, especially when caught on trains and planes.

    how to add logo in all photo at same time by lightroom in mobile

  • @markhood
    @markhood 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    The main reason I'm not using it is that I'm unconvinced by the colour management on iPhones / iPads... You can't calibrate the display so you have to hope for the best to some extent. Of course, if your images are going to be mainly shown on the web it's not important (and it's possible that they're going to be viewed on a mobile device so they'll look the same) but for printing I think it might not be as helpful.
    For initial triage of images, definitely worthwhile - and even some basic editing, but I think you'll still need to use Lightroom on a calibrated monitor before you go to print.
    Also, Ted - what are you using to record your screen & phone for these videos? It looks very smooth!

    • @theartofphotography
      @theartofphotography  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** I agree Mark, but the cool part is that it syncs so you can get critical back on the desktop.
      I use ScreenFlow which allows screen recording if your phone or iPad is plugged into the computer. Its great!

    First time Ted doesn't know what he is talking about. I get that he can't find seamlessness in mobile editing but it is the future of photo editing. Adobe is not the best or the first to get it right, and they won't be the last. Otherwise good video Ted, this type of video is why I subscribed

    This sounds a bit of a sell-out. Ted has always been fair in reviews and calls a spade a spade. I'm amazed when people give Lightroom Mobile a positive review. Adobe is absolutely terrific in what it does and I'm a massive fan of desktop Lightroom. But this app is a total lemon. Mobile makers have done stellar job in this field. Apple does decent editing. VSCO is good. After acquiring Nik, Google is kick-ass. LM is just too basic compared to those. At best one can rate their images, who cares.
