    Useful, considerate introduction, as always.

Lightroom 5.4 doesn't have the option to sync smart collections. I'm hoping this is an oversight. One of the benefits of Lightroom is using metadata to manage your images, going back to the equivalent of (dumb) folders would be a failure, not to mention intensely annoying.

I synced a Collection of 27 images from my desktop Mac Pro and it took quite a while. It must be my internet upload speed. I'm interested to see what's coming in the next mobile version of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. Thanks for the great tutorials Julieanne Kost!

I did a collection with well over a thousand images and it didn't take very long at all. Here are my initial impressions blog.anaara.com/2014/04/08/adobe-lightroom-mobile-first-impressions/

It must be my whopping .5 to 1 Mbps upload speed! Ugh!

No problems with speed on my end with 200 images

so one thing I have noticed, after using LR mobile a lot more, is that telling a collection to save for offline editing can take a while for all the image data to reportedly download when the collections are very large. However, 'offline editing' might not be exactly what it sounds like. You don't need to do this if you have previously viewed an image - in practice normal collections without this option checked can work the same way even if you don't currently have an Internet connection. The difference seems to be that when you view an image in detail for the first time, there is some download that occurs. It's this download that offline editing seems to do upfront.

Will this work only for Collections and not Smart Collections? I couldn't see any boxes in my smart collections.

Briliant, I'm guessing things like upright won't be supported?
PS The desktop version needs a GUI update like the mobile. Those tiny folder icons and text are hardly efficient working in a visual medium. I wouldn't mind a full or half screen "DESKTOP" style view of my collections. Where I can organize them as I wish. Not alphabetically. Thanks!

Is it possible for the iPad itself to create a smart preview for each photo while importing photos from a memory card (without deleting original files yet, the memory cards are getting cheaper and i don't mind to carry them around compared to carrying my laptop around) to the iPad?
Then when i get back to my desktop or laptop I will just do both import and synchronize the files at the same time so the desktop LR would know which one flagged and not flagged. Make sense?
Most of the time i dont want to carry my laptop around but I still want to be able to pick or not pick my photos at the same time . Serious adjustment could be done later on LR desktop as you guys already knew.
Thanks for great stuff anyway. :-D

LR 5 won't let me 'sign in' (via identity plate). Is the UK behind a update version? I'm on v5.3. I login through the ACC background app. thanks.

sorted. for some reason ACC app wasn't working properly. When it finally logged in properly finally it saw it needed to update to LR 5.4! Anybody else finding how buggy the adobe creative cloud manager is on the mac?
