    Hi! Thank you for your dedication to teaching the Bible! I just found you today and I can’t wait to watch these with my husband who just started coming to church on his own accord in November 2024 (I have been praying for him for 27 years and God answered my prayers). These videos are so easy to follow and so educational. Great for all, but especially those who are new to reading the Bible. Thank you so much!

    Eye opening. I have always been taught because Ishmael was of the flesh he had no part with God. I am thankful for this message that shows a different side

    “He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God - children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.”

    Previous I mentioned about God adding a "H" (meaning grace) to both Abram and Sarai, but also in both names it was their fifth letter and amazingly, just like our God, in Hebrew the number 5 symbolizes the idea of saving, to be saved, or to be rescued. 💕

    Thank you pastor David. I've enjoyed your commentaries, but I'm still unclear on Abimelech from Genesis 20 and 21 being different despite the name being a title. Doesn't the context below suggest they were the same king?
    "Now therefore, swear to me by God that you will not deal falsely with me,"

  • @livaja27
    @livaja27 ปีที่แล้ว

    "now therefore swear unto me here by God that thou wilt not deal falsely with me, nor with my son, nor with my son's son: **but according to the kindness that I have done unto thee,** thou shalt do unto me, and to the land wherein thou hast sojourned."
    Genesis 21:23 KJV
    How is this not the same Abimelech that was in chapter 20? The Abimelech in chapter 20 was definetly kind to Abraham, giving him riches. In what way was this Abimelech in chapter 21 kind to Abraham?

    • @erikleto7359
      @erikleto7359 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is debated. Abimelech is not a name per se, it is a title. Some feel that this is the same person, and that this monarch's hesitancy to trust Abraham is well deserved because Abraham and Sarah both lied to him the first time they came into contact with each other. I lean towards this position, which would add more understanding to Abimelech wanting Abraham to "swear by God" since he also knew the reality and power of God from his previous interactions.

      I think it is the same Abimelech but later when we see an almost identical story with Isaac and Abimelech, that’s when it’s a different one.

    IshmaEL...EmmanuEL. BOTH ARE OF EL. EL= YAHWEH. God will hear us. God is with us. IshmaEL wasn't cursed. He was blessed by Yahweh. Isaac= a rebuke. A rebuke of their people...just as Christ rebuked the Jewish children and their religious leaders. The true children of Yahweh are his servants...his slaves. Hagar was a woman of both faith and obedience, even if it meant being abused by Sarah and thrown away by Abraham. Then later,the descendants of Sarah and Abraham are REPEATEDLY PUNISHED for dealing treacherously and unrighteously with the orphans. See how the pattern repeated. Hagar was the first person in scripture to be visited by an angel of the Lord! Hagar recognizes God by name! She is immediately obedient!!! She didn't spend years in the desert mumbling and complaining. As her descendants, Muslims didn't need "a sign". The children of IshmaEL took Yahweh at His word...the FIRST time. And "the waters"....they got the "living" waters first! IshmaEL would Father 12 **princes** with the God of their father, Yahweh, as their King. And if you read deeper, children of "the promise" were destroyed time and time again as they kept lying like Abraham, mistreating people like Sarah, and worshipping a series of false idols. Abimelech heard about Abraham's tendency to lie, and wouldn't deal with him until he took an oath not to lie to him! Abraham didn't lie to Yahweh, but we see that even Yahweh had to test him. So a man of "integrity"... highly subjective. It seems that Yahweh chose Abraham and descendents as an example of how NOT to live. Maybe he wanted the rest of the nations to know that if God can love and choose to deal with such a stiff-necked, idol worshipping, double crossing, wicked people, He can forgive and deal with nearly anybody. God indeed made a promise to Hagar. The Jewish Bible does include the rest of those details. The Bible does not highlight how Hagar's faith grew as she had no one to lean on but the God of Abraham. To be rejected by the Jews was probably a blessing within itself. So today's " chosen people" really ought not think that there is anything great or unique about them to the point that they think genocide and pride are ok. Right now, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and I'm Jacob HEARS HIS CHILDREN crying out! He heard their forefather AND their foremother. He now hears them too!!! You're not the only child. Your ancestors were mostly destroyed ( less a " remnant") for injustice towards orphans and for plotting evil. He is a God who does not change, and again, you are not an only child.

    HAGAR AND ABRAHAM WHERE MARRIED ISHMAEL IS HIS HEIR AND TECHNICALLY THE PROMISE ABD ISSAC WAS ALSO A PROMISE HE MADE WITH ABRAHAM AND SARAH

  • @enijahhenderson7531

    Ishmael is the karma of Abraham and Sarah because they tried to deceive God and that’s why he made a promise to Hagar and Her Son Ishmael and Technically Ishmael is his heir because he is his First born son
