I am 90 yrs and live in New Zealand, Been here for almost 60 years, Still got m pommy accent. I love the girl reciting the poem in Nottinghamees. Well done.
I've just found this its been great to refresh my mind of great days being a Bulwell lad now living in Barcelona Still miss the place as it was such ashame things changed so drastic I have learnt things I didn't even no about Bulwell so thanks😁👍
I’ve lost count of the number of time I’ve fell in the river there, and the boating pool as well. It was usually a Sunday on the way back from Sunday school by the fire station.
Would I be correct saying that there was a scrapyard where the children’s play park is now, that I believe was in the early sixties, possibly called Henderson’s ?
I think it's very good what your doing here, not enough is emphasized of Nottinghamshire whereabouts, you wouldn't happen to have anything going Beeston area by any chance, thanks Bob
Nothing on Beeston at the moment, but that doesn't mean that there wont be in the future. Bulwell is where I grew up, but there's only so much you can do on Bulwell, so I've done a range of videos just about Nottingham... eventually I'll move on to other areas given time.
The original one burnt to the ground in 1980 (there's a housing estate there now). The one which ran from 1980-2016 on the Blenheim Industrial Estate is now used by UK Mail. Richard Sankey & Son Ltd sadly no longer exists, and Sankey is just a trade name
Have you seen the state of the bogs now. Last time I took a walk down there knots of rats were in and out of the bins. It was never like that in the 70’s and 80’s Nottingham city council hang your heads in shame

Great effort. Best wishes from Canada!
Many thanks 👍
Awesome video, I'm proud to be from Bulwell, Not many folk can say that nowadays.
Ditto, lived in Bulwell until I was 20, and worked there until I was nearly 50. It doesn't deserve the stick it gets !
another great work Paul, thanks for including the poem-important to save the accents which increasingly become milder with time
greenrosenz many thanks. Don't forget to check out all the other Bulwell videos on my channel too 😊
well Done - you are a brave man for trying and succeeding.
I used to take my three children to bulwell bogs with jam jars to catch toddlers forty years ago
