Creepy Classic Kids TV #9 Raven (1977) - by the writers of Children of the Stones, but is it better?
I've wanted to do this video series for a while now. Some of the strongest kids tv memories I have are from those that scared the hell of of me. There were so many good ones, and many which just wouldn't get made today.
Hopefully you'll join me on this journey through the TV series of the past.
Raven was written by the same team as the classic Children of the Stones and broadcast the same year - but is it better ????

G1 Burglars in the Yard (Chapters 1-3) by Sheila K McCullagh
มุมมอง 21821 วันที่ผ่านมา
Years after writing Tim and the Hidden People, Sheila McCullagh rewrote the first 4 series in the form of a novella (I suppose nowadays, they'd say "rebooted"). These were more wordy 128 pages long, but with less of the wonderful pictures we were used to, now just line drawings by Ray Mutimer She also wrote 4 additional novellas telling of Tim's further adventures with The Hidden People. Tim an...

I was recently asked to give a talk to a class at the Snape Wood Primary School about Richard Sankey & Son, it's history and development. I was going to use my original fire video as part of it, but decided to update it (plus "I Am The God of Hellfire" probably wasn't suitable for kiddies. I added the narration from that days report in the Nottingham Evening Post. I thought as I'd done the work...

@@stevedickson5853 yes I've seen it... Thought it was the original to begin with
@paulturton9755 lol same here, except it gets even creepier and darker somewhat ..🤣
I remember watching this when I had a day off school ill
I do say having actress Jackie Pearce in who was well known for her portrayal as arch-enemy Servalan in sci-fi series Blakes Seven is awesome.
I have this series on dvd
I look forward to seeing the rest of this book chapters and the next book, Magic in the North and these stories are awesome in billions of ways Paul.
Awesome got it on dvd😊😊😊
I remember this from the time Nickelodeon showed this series as apart of the Third Eye series. At the time they were doing a lot of British and Canadian programs and they were taking a lot of ques from the Public Broadcasting Service. They don't show this sort of thing anymore on Nickelodeon, but I was glad to be around when they did, I think they gave more sophisticated tastes than kids get today.
@@schizoidboy Definitely
Thank you, my mate described this series to me, I thought he was talking about Children Of The Stones.
An early outing for Phil Daniels
It ended a week before my 9th birthday! I remember seeing it - we only had a black and white telly at the time - if only I could go back in time to those dates armed with a VHS video and plug it into a telly and record it, then bring it forward in time! Newly discovered colour version! Do likewise with Timeslip - although a few episodes of the third story were only in black and white anyway, due to the Colour Strike - could they be colourised without it looking all wishy-washy! The book that the series is based on is also the basis of a film called Paperhouse!
I didn't really find it to be creepy, but I did think it was incredibly bland and soulless.
I was glued to the tv for this series, like Children of The Stones it was excellent.
There were a lot of spooky series in the seventies. This was good to see again.
Watched this at the time 👍
Don't remember watching it at the time, but bought the DVD a couple of years ago, and really enjoyed it.
@@grahamjay4155 it's criminally underrated
>and many which just wouldn't get made today. Yes, because the people alive are different. But most tv today would not be allowed at all then.
Wasn't Shirley Cheriton one of the original Angels?
I believe she was - that's a blast from the past !
KEEP EM COMING MATE 😊😊
Kevin was something of a con artist. He tried to sell his old bike to Tim for £10. He wasn't a very nice boy, but Jim was downright cruel and mean.
Jim and Kevin were bullies and Miss Miff was an evil cow.
Lizzy Dripping was a brilliant tv series. I didn't find it frightening at all
Thank you as always xxx
Thanks Paul. I look forward to listening
So excited for this!
Thanks so much Paul for this! So looking forward to watching and listening to the great way you tell the story delighted 🎉❤🎉
More please! I'm glad you uploaded these chapters. I love listening to these stories like everyone else does.
Great story so far. Looking forward for next chapters eventually. Love listening these series anytime
my sister would always want to ride my red chopper.
Thanks Paul much appreciated. Everyone over 45 is doing a little jig!
2nd that
I am anyway! 😂
And even younger. I read these in my childhood at young age. Found some copies in the house. Got hooked. 😊❤
I loved this series as a young child. I remember it very well. I didn't think it was scary at all just gentle, silly and comforting. Barbara Mitchell as Mother was the best thing about it.....
0:29 Jim Black not Jack Black Paul 😂
Do you have any stills of the Mason’s Arms on Commercial Road?
my daughter could not believe this was for kids. she loved every minuet of it.
I have the first original 8 books I nicked from school😆 Crime does pay, Trust me...
Really interesting, thanks.
I watched this all those years ago. Think that my have had a bad effect. Now an artist in my 50's, Ireland and fascinated by folklore. Do illustrate that. But I also take people walks around the ancient sites here in Ireland and tell them the stories of standing stones, fairy trees and scared sites.
jessica and Simon are awesome children.
I hope you can help me. I’m looking for a creepy show from the 80s or before that was either darkly filmed or black and white. It involved a large estate and children. My only certain memory is they accessed it by sneaking under the hedge and at the end at least one child dove back under the hedge and fled from the home. It’s driving me crazy I can’t find. I believe I saw it in 1988
I've had a think, and done a bit of research, but to be honest, I can't find anything like that. Was it a series or a one off ?? I'll let you know if I come across anything.
Thank you for covering this. I watched it 41 years ago! Then just a couple of years ago I remembered, figured out what the name was, and rewatched; it really holds up! Plenty of fun for an adult too.
I remember this very well, but in black and white!
This is my most remembered frightener! I still have the paperback of the original book!
IEEEEE!!!
Not as scary as Chico the Rainmaker.
I wish I'd seen this as a kid...would have loved it.

Looking forward to the remaining Tim and the Hidden people novellas😃
Thank you so much for your efforts on this. It has been an absolute joy to work through them all and see the whole story as I never did 45 years ago. Amazingly, I enjoyed the stories for what they are, not just as nostalgia, despite being a well read adult. A testament to how compelling they are. If I ever have another cat it will be called Sebastian.
