One of my favorite made for TV movies was Gargoyles that came out in 1972. I noticed a clip at the beginning of this vid. I was very young when it was aired, but remember seeing it. I recently found it online and watched it again. I still like it! I hope y'all have a great Halloween!
That tape was the first thing I bought on eBay. I heard about the movie as a kid and couldn't find it anywhere for years. Not as great as the mental image I'd built up, but still enjoyable.
Shout-out to _The Howling 3_ for giving us Werewolf Nuns and Marsupial Werewolves. Seeing a baby werewolf snuggled up in Mum's pouch is pretty wild. Oh yeah, Mum is human, too. Not sure how a woman has a marsupial pouch. But hey, 80s horror! 😆 Video stores in the 80s gave us so many great monsters. And yet Remco's Universal Monsters 3.75" action figures, which came out in 1980-81, are super-sought after by toy collectors (and can be pretty pricey!) Those classic monsters will live on forever...
Love Pumpkinhead and Hellraiser. You didn’t mention the Thing or Prince of Darkness which are two more go tos for my October/Halloween scream fest. Worthy choices all, however. Well done 🧛♂️
The Thing is definitely a solid choice, but as it lacked any real form of its own (only ever being some mix of alien and human) , it was hard to see as something comparable to the Universal Monsters.
I'm glad that The Fly hasn't been badly remade yet! (Hollywood peeps, don't get any ideas no one wants it). If it's already happened I apologise I fear to check 😂.
Pumpkinhead has been my favorite horror movie ever since I was a kid in the 1980s. It's a film I've been watching every Halloween for about the last 35 years. There has actually been 2 separate Pumpkinhead comic book series to date. The first was produced by Dark Horse comics in 1993. It was written by Gary Gerani with Mark Patrick Carducci who were the screen writers of the first film and also responsible for the creation of the Pumpkinhead mythos. The comic was supposed to be a 4 part mini series, but only two issues were finished and published. However, the conclusion to the story, in mostly written form, was included within the instructional booklet that came with the winged Pumpkinhead model kit known as Pumpkinhead the Metamorphosis which was produced by a company called Geo Metric. The second Pumpkinhead comic book was also a mini series running 5 issues this time. This series was published by Dynamite Entertainment in 2018 and was written by Cullen Bunn with art by Blacky Shepherd. All 5 issues were also collected into a trade paperback format.
@@AnthonyJRapino You're welcome. Yeah, it was definitely an unconventional way of getting the conclusion to the story released, but Gary Gerani really wanted it out there to be read, and, luckily for us fans, he found a way.
@@RetroDaze Mark "Jacko" Jackson, former Aussie rules footballer/singer/actor/B-grade celebrity/entiity in his own right, lol. Americans prolly best know him from the 1987 show _The Highwayman_ with Sam Jones. He was the face of Energizer battery ads back in the day. "Oi!" was his catchphrase...
Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Special and the fact one of the characters was *gasp* black and the HUGE uproar over that. I watch it about a week after halloween. Love it!!
Good question, and something that we could probably debate endlessly. Some sites list its genre as "horror/fantasy." On IMBD the genre tags consist of body horror, supernatural horror, horror, and thriller. I've, in the past, heard people refer to it as grim/dark fantasy, gothic, and all manner of subgenre tags. I was actually just having a similar discussion with a friend about "what makes something horror?" (specifically, she was wondering when does a serial killer movie go from "crime/thriller/mystery" to "horror." I usually fall back to tone and atmosphere, as well as some other more tangible elements, but suffice it to say, it's an incredibly interesting area of discussion.
@@Hello_Fuckers0 Oh, for sure. I tend to love genre mash-ups. Plus, with so many different kinds of horror, it makes sense that we'll end up with genre-mashes and new subgenres.
I agree that the second movie is more of a Dark Fantasy but the first is more of a Horror. The scenes that Julia brings those dudes back to the house for their blood for Frank are terrifying.
What a way to end the October segments!!
Thanks Jon and Gang
👊🏻🕹️😎🎃💀👻
Glad you enjoyed! Happy Halloween!
It’s a bittersweet time here at the end of October, but we hope the final week is the best of all!
Pumpkinhead in the thumbnail? Instant watch lol.
😆 Score!

Indeed they do! Can’t imagine a world in which they aren’t still viewed as iconic.
The Fly, The Blob, and The Thing are three of the greatest examples of monster movie remakes in my opinion.
You’ll get no disagreement from us there.
Pumpkinhead is my favorite movie monster of all time
It is one that was just so well done and the attention to detail was second to none.
Last October episode, say it ain't so! I've been loving the content this month!🖤
So have we! It’s bittersweet for us all.
For monsters I would say Meg Mucklebones from the movie, Legend. Actually, Darkness and Blix could go in, as well. Such amazing makeup work.
Yeah, there are quite a few characters in that film that would fit well in this list!
I always liked the creature in the movie Cates Eye (the one that lives in the wall & dresses like a court jester).
A very interesting choice! Obscure and unique. 🎃
Nightɓreed is one of my favs
That’s a pretty underrated gem.

Hasn’t happened yet, thankfully.
Hellraiser was the one that freaked me out when I was a kid
Yeah, it had so many layers of depravity working for it to make it both repulsive and fascinating!

That movie gave me nightmares.
@@stevenlindsey2056 Same here! I still loved it though lol.
Thanks for the info! That's particularly interesting about the first series being concluded in the instructions for a model kit. How cool!

That’s awesome! We appreciate the info! How rare is that model kit with the conclusion of the comic story?
The Demon at the end of the Gate. My favorite movie.
That’s a good one as well. So many under appreciated creatures from the era.
When I hear Jack-O, I think of a large Australian man yelling OI! and trying to sell me batteries.
Not familiar with this.
Lol

October is almost over. Thanksgiving then Christmas.
Best time of the year imo. Cooler weather, Sports, and good eating coming up for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
We prefer the two months leading up to Halloween, but we are also glad the festivities only get more grand from here!
I have a shirt from Cavity Colors with Pumpkinhead on it.
Very nice!

We love all the Charlie Brown specials. They are all at the top of the list of must watch shows.
The real monsters in Hellraiser are Frank and Julia.
No argument here. 😆
Can you do a video about Rawhead Rex?
Rawhead Rex! Another good one.
The Fiy 1986, is on rite now on AMC.
Perfect timing! 😆
It was late 90s but the Jinn from Wishmaster should be on this list
He is a great one! Great movie too. His smile is
maximum sinister!
Do we really call hellraiser horror though? Or do we call it dark fantasy? It's definitely a unique presentation.
I think Hellraiser is it's own genre, a unique mix of multiple genres that make it singular among it's peers.

It’s debatable for sure. The fact that Clive Barker is the creator tends to sway folks to the horror tag.
I'm not a fan of circus peanuts, but if you really want to eat them, buy a pack of them for yourself
Never! 😆 Circus Peanuts are an abomination!
Yes, I would only eat them if there was nothing else
0:40 What's this from?
Hmmm. Actually not sure! Need to ask editor Alyssa.
Google Lens found it. "Space Monster Wangmagwi" (1967).
I have a Pumpkinhead tattoo, I wanted a rawhead rex one , but settled on the former. Misfits have a song called Pumpkinhead also.🫡
Pumpkinhead is a real classic of the ‘80s. That’s awesome that you have a tattoo of him! 😆
