it will be cool if they let the hunter have the bow but make the titan have a giant hammer and the warlocks have a staff that make then give buffs and shit idk
It shouldn't be free at all, but it's too bloody expensive. Needing to own all the previous DLCs to get the most recent one is insane, I think it's not really possible to say if the annual pass is worthy of that price because we don't know exactly what's in it yet. but when Forsaken comes out if I want to jump into Destiny 2 it's gonna cost me like £95 ($127) just to play the content that is actually in any way supported, which is utterly insane. more than double the price of another full price game for just one game. When Taken King came out for destiny 1 I paid £40 and got everything I needed to have an absolutely fantastic time. If they did the same thing as the taken king and I only had to pay £40 (or let's say £50 for Forsaken and the annual pass), I would happily pay because it's a ton of fun, but this is ridiculous. Value is relative but personally, I have to draw the line at them over doubling the fucking price for something that is about the same level of quality.
I paid 60$ for d1, then 35$ for expansion pass, then 40$ for ttk, that's 135$ when year 2 came out. As for d2, I paid 60$ for it, 30$ for expansion pass since it was bundled, and 40$ for forsaken. Its 5$ less not including the annual pass but ttk didn't have more content added to it until rise of iron came out. As for d2 expansions currently, they're on sale in the ps store and I expect them to be on sale close to forsaken's launch
Agreed. I paid $100 for the Y1 content because I loved D1 so much and it turned out to be the biggest waste of $100 that I’ve ever spent. Now they want $70 more dollars? Pass.
I'd also say that you don't need the DLC to get the majority of the fixes, just the new "content". If you look at the Development Road Map and look at what has been delivered (despite the crazy reason they have of naming some of them after the DLC just because they come out at the same time) they are all available to people that have vanilla Destiny 2. My impression is that everything in 2.0.0 is going to be for everyone as well, you just won't have any of the DLC specific stuff, so no triumphs for Curse, Warmind, Forsaken etc. DLC locked exotics/gear/emotes etc will also probably not appear in your collections, but the rest should be there. I also hear a lot of complaints about price, and as others have said I think everyone is going to have an opinion on it. I got the Digital Deluxe of D2 on PS4 on release, so £90, but I've put in over 330 hours of active game time. I've completed £40-£50 games in 10-20 hours before and haven't complained. Don't get me wrong, D2 was disappointing in so many ways, but I still enjoy playing it and putting my hours in.
I watched it again at that time, and didn't see anything. Was it the gun the warlock was holding, or am I not looking at the right time/part of the screen?
Yup. If you look at the bungie employee's monitor right around that time you can see the whole gun, it definitely looks like a machine gun. And it reaaaaaaally sounds like one, too. They better be back, they are still my favorite weapons in the whole destiny universe.
I also want to see the return of machine guns badly, and I agree with the sound, but it looks to me like just a new auto rifle (the look of it, plus it has the auto rifle weapon logo in the sub-menu). I could be wrong, but that's wht I see when i watch that clip. That said, if it does turn out to be a MG, i'll be extremely surprised, and extremely happy.
"I am not one of those people so take that as you will." And like that my respect for you just jumped 10,000 spaces forward into Optimal DPS Range Datto. Edit: DPS in this case being Delight Per Second.
No content shouldn't be free, but basically having to pay for a whole new game that's only just DLC is stupid when a large portion of it is made to fix the game they didn't finish. Of course it should not be freen but it shouldn't be $70. Plus it blows my mind his main issue is the fact that you have to buy curse of sh*t DLC to even play it! When instead it should be the fact you're paying the price of a new game period..
First of all, you're not paying 70 dollars for this DLC. You can pay 70 dollars for this DLC *AND* future content that will be released over the following year, but the DLC itself is only $40 and the annual pass is $30. The two are separate purchases, don't clump them together, it's intellectually dishonest. Not to mention that if this is going to deliver everything they've outlined thus far (which to an extent it has to be, otherwise that's a legal issue), I think it's perfectly reasonable to price it at 40 dollars. Does it fix a lot of things that should have been that way from the beginning? Yes, but that's not what you're paying for. You're paying for the content provided: a new raid, patrol space (or two), game mode, story missions, etc., not bulk shader deletion, lore tab in game, etc. They have to make money to function as a company, and if we want content drops in the future even close to what this promises or even what expansions like Rise of Iron have delivered in the past, they can't afford to charge any less, let alone give it away for free. This takes time, resources, effort and a lot of communication with the community. As Datto said: that line of thinking is frankly delusional.
LeftwardGlobe16 I'm not being Bungie suck boys like so many others... And pointing out the obvious issues here is doing everyone a favor. People are so fanboy over this game they're not seeing anything beyond "NEW CONTENT!" They want us to buy a DLC that fixes a game they broke(not saying DLC should be free), which the fixes should be just a free update. Then this "Pass" they're trying to sell is under the radar just updates that should be free like any other update, but now is a part of their monetization scheme... The fact that they have to run some kind of deal to make it so people don't have to buy the last two DLC in order to even play this one itself is an issue. You have to have the base game with all DLCs up to date in order to play. Which comes out to be a lot of money for free fixes to the game and paid DLC
Thing is that most of the fixes will be free whether you buy the DLC or not. All of the quality of life changes are universal, they're edits to the sandbox and therefore don't require purchasing the DLC to access. Again, you're buying access to the content, not the fixes, those come regardless. As for the pass, maybe I'm misinterpreting something, but in my understanding those are content updates aswell, not fully sized DLC like Warmind (which is probably why when you break the price down by the number of releases it comes down to 10 dollars per release rather than the regular 20), but still something that takes enough time and resources to warrant pay. And again, it's still a separate purchase that you can choose to skip out on entirely. Do I agree that these changes should not be needed in the first place? Yes. Do I think it's scummy business practice to require people to buy a game piece-meal? Yes. Do I think that this should come with a heavily discounted bundle with the other DLCs and base game like TTK did (which was 40$ for the whole package if I remember correctly)? Yes. But I also think that we shouldn't be complaining about Bungie *improving* their game. That's not constructive criticism.
Daniel Biancalana well no, swords and rocket launchers were customized for only heavy slots, grenade launchers can be secondary, but sure as hell not primary.
I commented on the official reveal, but I will stress as much as I have too. *Keep our expectations in check* . We still don’t know enough details and we don’t know how it will fair in comparison to the TTK expansion. Regardless, I’d say this is what Destiny 2 needed.
I commented on that video that this is their last chance for me. If this expansion is great I'll be happy. However when Destiny 3 rolls around I'm going to be careful. If they haven't learned what people want from Destiny and Destiny 2 then I am not getting it. We can not have massive regressions in the third game. It shouldn't take 2 years to "learn" what players want when you have other games in the same series to draw from. They better make this shot count, because if it's bad then it's over for me.
I really hppe that they let us mix and mach perks from subclass trees like in d1. They say they want us to be able to play the way we want, and that could open up some interesting combonations.
Jooshly123 i doubt that’s what they’ll do. I’m pretty sure that it’s just gonna be another 4 perks that you choose in a subclass. However i would like for them to bring that back from D1
I wouldn't mind if they added a third perk wheel for each subclass, and gave us the option to choose like 6-8 of the perks on any wheel, that would be ok.
Eh that is kind of true but let’s be honest. Even in D1 the majority of perks where garbage, and at least for me I always looked for perks that maxed my stability. Now in D2 recoil has been dumbed down so now I do feel like there is more room for better perks or even buffed perks to come with Forsaken.
Alejandro Matheu Good eye, glad I'm not the only one who noticed. Alot of hardcore PvP players hate the reductions to in-air accuracy, so this is a pretty elegant answer imo
At least in Destiny 2 you can shoot (and kill) people while in the air with a shotgun. D1, you either have to be physically on top of them or lucky as fuck to get a kill. Plus, getting a dropshot headshot from above with a slug shottie is always a good time. Can't wait to pull that off with a bow....
I'm not upset about paying for DLC. I'm upset about paying full-price for half-assed DLC and then being asked to pay full price for more DLC with "it'll be better this time. We promise. For real" tacked onto it. I'm kinda bummed that there isn't another physical collector's edition like there was with TTK, but I'm kind of glad at the same time, because that's the only reason I would have paid in advance for it. I like the game, or the idea/ potential of it. And I want it to be good. I feel like Bungie lost a lot of trust within the community and I hope they can earn it back. But asking $30/40/70/80 for product that won't be released until 3 months from now and intermittently for another 8 REALLY isn't helping their case and kinda makes it seem like they [still] don't give a shit about the players.
Thanks for covering this Datto! I’m so excited for the next expansion especially now that I have a full idea of what’s going on! Keep up the great work!
As much as I like Destiny, $70 is a steep price for a game that I've lost almost all of my trust in. It isn't good to make overpriced content a community that has been let down to such extremes. Good will is needed to make this game better than it has been, and the first place to do this is with the price. I'm not saying that is shouldn't be there, all I'm saying is that this seems like a somewhat misguided move for a game that needs the respect of the community to continue as the game has been doing for the past four years.
Garrett Carpenter I'm encouraging everyone I know, and anyone online that will listen, not to pre-order. If they see that people aren't just blindly throwing money at them MONTHS beforehand then maybe they'll actually notice.
Just like every disappointing game with a good looking trailer. Not saying this will be bad, but thats a fact nowadays, few devs are really trustworthy, Bungie is no more worthy of that.
byghostlight0 Making a simple button with some calculated dismantle rewards is a hotfix change. Making it take a year because “other important things” when the content we got was more meh than ever. So yeah picking on them for that is definitely allowed.
Datto, you can buy the game then let ur followers know if its worth buying or not. I fell into the hype too many times and have been let down lol. This time im holding back and not getting sucked into pre orders or dlcs anymore
Timofee And this is exactly why I'm encouraging everyone I know, and anyone online that will listen, not to pre-order and blindly throw money at Bungie for something that could be absolutely garbage.
I did not buy Curse of Osiris which turned out to be a smart decision that influenced me not getting Warmind. It’s going to take a lot more than a cute reveal to get me to spend my money on this franchise again especially if i need to buy both of the previous packs just to play Forsaken...
So to play the forsaken expansion I have to pay $50 Australian dollars then I need to get the previous dlc to be able to access which costs a further $50 dollars. So now I may as just well buy another game
I really struggle with the price tag. Not because it's a lot of money in and of itself (inflation + the amount of content take care of that). But primarily because I still feel so god damn ripped off from buying the season pass on launch last time. The Year One experience was so awful from a content standpoint that it's hard to decouple the two. Particularly as a PC player, when we've been blessed by the sheer volume of quality content that is either underpriced (the Witcher 3) or free (Warframe). Nevermind that this comes from a studio that should know better. As economically tough as it would have been - I think that Bungie would have been well served by either providing an additional free DLC to existing season pass holders, or cutting the price of the Forsaken season pass. I think that Bungie has missed an opportunity to rebuild a ton of goodwill and burnish their reputation as a studio by admitting that Year One was not up to standard and making an apology that goes beyond mere words.
I actually agree with the price being cut in half. This isn't a comment he was giving for pity, this is an opinion I like. Instead of being toxic you actually had great input. By no means should this be free, but a discount for Deluxe edition holders would have been nice. Yes, I am going to buy the Deluxe edition of this because Bungie is stepping up and doing what we all asked. I respect Bungie for having the guts to come out swinging and if I'm dissapointed that's my fault for giving them another chance.
I remember this as peak destiny; the forsaken era was the best destiny has ever been and it will be very tough for destiny to ever be this great again.
my issue is that, Bungie has had 3 years of experience with the same audience that is there playing their game right now. The same people who are demanding more, the people who are complaining that the end game loot isn't varied enough, the people who have seen Destiny through from the start. Bungie decided to disregard all that and they delivered some half assed game that was supposed to be what the community wanted and was supposed to be worth our time and efforts. They had 3 years to improve and they threw that all away. It's like you going to the SAT courses for three years straight, then right when you're sitting in that room, where you're taking the exam, you shit your pants and not even try your best to get what you rightfully deserve. Now, granted that Bungie is trying to fix their shit, it feels like this had all been a fraud and that they never even thought about the disappointment and the regrets that the player base had, after paying 100+ on the game and devoting our time, which we could've used for something else, for something we did not ask for. The thing for corporations like Bungie is, they never wanted to satisfy you. Maybe the developers, the actual people who are making the game did, but the company wanted nothing more than the money. Why do you think they delivered D2 to our doorsteps in that state in the first place? They promised us a "brand new" game that was supposed to take on the good that we have built up during the three years of D1, but what do you know? D2 base game was such a disappointment I don't even know why people were playing it after a month of release. Raid lairs, really? We want real raids. Raids like VoG, CE, King's Fall, and SIVA. That's what we meant when we said new raids. Not reused concepts that are just "add-ons". Jesus Christ, it's like buying a burger without the patty, cheese, sauces, and all the essential ingredients to a good, worthwhile burger, then paying for all that shit later. Sure, the new trailer looks enticing, but I honestly don't think I would be willing to pay another 70 bucks when I know damn well it would just feed into Bungie's trail of action. Furthermore, 3 more dlc's? really? I don't think it's bad, I'm just saying there should be another alternative to how this game should be published. 40 bucks is a lot of money to us students.
The only issue I have with your stance is you assume Bungie started developing D2 after TTK. They started developing D2 right before TDB. None of the features we fell in love with in TTK and RoI were in TDB. By the time TTK and RoI came out, they had to either decide to delay D2 or push out a product they were aware would flop. They took a presumed gamble and lost. It REALLY sucked. On top of that, they are not their own distributor. Which is also why they just received $100M from a Chinese company to be able to do that on their own. However, going forward, they should NEVER backslide like they did.
I think I'll wait for destiny 2 the collection, that's when the "true release" of the game will be. Second time they released an unfinished game with two mediocre "expansions" and then a huge expansion that fixes our issues a year later. At this point I just want to see what is available to every player and what isn't.
And then a year after the collection they'll release a final $60 expansion and release D3 the year after that expansion and do this shit ALL over again
100 percent agree @Datto it's on my radar for one of the next things to hope to happen is the breaking up of the skill tree blocks, the variants to the supers is nice just can't wait for deeper skill trees to be starting to be worked on.
Bloodsole Me too man. I REALLY want to play the new raid, but I don’t know if I’ll have the time or patience to trudge through everything else to get to it. The areas, weapons, armor, bosses, etc. all look even cooler than usual, but I feel like everything else seems like a traditional destiny expansion. I don’t know I’ll have to see if my friends still care because most of them hate Bungie at this point, and I can’t blame them. I think it’s safe to say Destiny 2 is the most disappointing, and honestly infuriating, game I have ever played. It’s really sad... I miss Destiny 1.
lolosh99 the perfect response to everyone saying "dlc takes money to make" yeah well that's what their slot machine is for! A high quality expansion at $40 I can understand but a bunch of low content lack luster dlc's? No.
You know what would build my trust in Bungie a lot faster? Have this expansion be $20 and not have to buy CoO with it. You are exactly right...I don't have faith in Bungie right now, and I don't have to buy this game. I really think the content in this expansion looks great, but I won't be buying it until after it is released and I have a roadmap of their future plans. It may be petty of me, but if the price was cut in half I may have 2nd thoughts, and would be more willing to give it a chance.
Nightstalker mains just finally getting an actual weapon instead of only getting a bow once every four minutes. There’s a reason I run Orpheus Rigs. Now I can do both 😏
Voi gaming Wilson didn’t get hyped for CoO or Warmind and for good reason. but if they’re saying it’s gonna be bigger than taken king I can’t help but not get excited.
It's funny because I lost hope on this game after the 2 DLC's not even that they were underwhelming but the weapons felt so boring having 2 primaries, and I put the game down thinking I'd never pick it up with the boring weapons system, but now....... oh boy Bungie you know how to bring me back. I have a feeling this will be the revival of the destiny and I think it will be one of the best expansions in destiny history.
The only other expansion was TTK lol. TDB and HoW were pretty much cut content just like CoO and Warmind. Rise of Iron was good but can’t consider it an expansion and TTK did all the heavy work in making the game great.
at about 8:00 you stated that it will probably not be retroactive -- during the livestream, the director said they had people import their home characters and everything filled in. Not sure if it will be like kills and such, but I think the collections will be.
So, I must buy the game, buy the season pass, buy the fall dlc, and buy the annual pass.Bungie is turning a buy to play game into a buy to play and pay to play, that's ridiculous
Guilherme Lage I agree with you that you have to buy the season pass and annual pass, but Forsaken is a DLC man. And you don’t have to buy it if you don’t want to. Totally agree with you on the other parts though.
Guilherme Lage You only need the game and Forsaken to play Forsaken. LoL. The record book is part of the update and you need DLC to access certain achievments.
Or you can do what I did and just buy the forsaken collection that comes with the main game, the first 2 expansions and forsaken as well for just 60 bucks. Way better then paying 60 for the main game at launch then another 80 for the other stuff. Lesson for you, if a new destiny game comes out wait till the expansions come out before getting it lol
I just need Eververse gone and I want certain cosmetic systems from Destiny 1 to return, namely permanent items that go into collections where you can reclaim them. I have absolutely no problem paying for expansions, but what I will not do under any circumstances is pay for cheap little digital items (and I love these cheap digital items, mind you) under a system of predatory microtransactions and insultingly high prices. If this expansion is $30, as you say, that's apparently only worth three Iron Banner exotic emotes, and that should never be a comparison we have to make.
Somehow people are completely missing the potential of Bungievision double gouging us for real money items in the Eververse like the recent IB emote and paying an annual pass on top of it. I'm fine with the expansion price but they need to address this.
Billy Herrington How about you show me one person... ONE... PERSON... in the entire world... who managed to get every single item from Eververse Season 1, without paying for a single bright engram. Then, I'll listen to that argument.
Such a bad argument. I shouldn't even have to consider it. If they are going to charge for in game items then don't put an annual pass on top of it. It's pure greed.
Billy Herrington just... Ugh. You tard fanboys need to stop. YOU ARE THE REASON CURSE OF OSIRIS AND WARMIND WERE AS SHIT AS THEY WERE. THEY KNOW THEY CAN BRING SHIT ON A PLATE AND YOU'LL EAT IT HAPPLY AND EVEN ASK FOR SECONDS. WE LIKE THIS GAME AND WANT IT TO BE BETTER TOO. BUT THAT'S NOT GONNA HAPPEN IF THE MESAGE BUNGO IS GETTING IS *PLEASE TAKE ALL MY MONEY*
The argument isn't just "paying for DLC. REEEEE". That is a misrepresentation and is an oversimplification of the issue. When it was announced that Battlefield 5 would be supported solely through microtransactions post-launch, it sparked some discussion about how it's reasonably plausible that Bungie could adopt a similar model for D2 since it could rely more heavily on the Eververse to support the game while providing free DLC content and lowering the barrier for entry to increase its playerbase. It's very strange that anyone would take offense at that and repeat ad nauseam that the developers have to make a living. The video game industry is constantly changing, and the microtransaction model has gained a lot of traction. It's very anti-consumer to want the developers to charge for the base game, charge for DLC, and also have microtransactions on top of that. I can't understand the logic behind rants like these that apparently turn a blind eye to how the industry is evolving. I'll play this game regardless, because I'm enjoying it and I have high hopes for upcoming content, but I have to tell you that fervently arguing against business decisions that could actually do the game some good (by winning over people who've given up on the game) is just plain irrational and only hurts those of us who want to have a healthy playerbase. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. PS. I haven't actually seen anyone give a proper argument as to why this Pass should cost money other than "Get a job" and "You don't have to buy it", which sounds like its being written by edgy 12 year olds. The idea of Eververse was to fund future content, where was this eververse funded content? It has always surprised me how easily the Destiny community forgives Bungie and essentially hands over their wallets in a fashion that could only be described as the community having Stockholm Syndrome. First to critizize; First to defend.
The viddoc reminds me of how Destiny 1 was announced. When there was just concept art, the battle worn exo sitting against a wall. The vibe of (pre release) Destiny 1 is coming back to me and I think it's going to be real this time. A place to wander and explore. I mean actually explore, the amount of depth Taken King had combined with the size of patrol areas. EDZ, Nessus and IO are actually pretty huge, but so very very empty. I am hoping Bungie will re-define Destiny as it's own genre and have the closest thing to it being Borderlands (PvE) and Halo (PvP) - but still make it out to be their own mysterious world. (which it is in many ways but it's not really rubbing off on me). ALSO: Why isn't the Infinite Forest a place I can jump in anytime I like and have it generate an infinite 'dungeon' with al the set pieces. Gradually getting more difficult with stronger enemies - bosses - getting modifiers at higher levels - bounties - puzzle set pieces (as simple as stand on platforms to orb fetching and auro charging to open doors) unique guns and armor to the activity with their own mods like the raid gear. Unlocking certain set pieces by doing a thing, give me a choice when opening a door A or B (add a quest that has me figuring out the door combinations to unlock a secret set piece). At the end of every level or whatever place a teleport out button in order to finish your temple run whenever and cash in your tokens and quests. All of this is in place in the current game - why isn't it there :( PS: Does Bungie have a suggestion box?
Datto at 13:00 FINALLY! AHAHHAHAHAHA (Liked the video, the only things I hope is they promise to have Destiny 1 weapon system in. I always try to have low expectations so I can be surprised, but that's difficult when they say so much, and provide so little that I actually like.)
So my thin with destiny is really just a sad story. I played d1 beta bought it first day played everyday bought all dlcs first day played for months and I loved the game but man d2 was so fun when it came out but then again ran into exact same issues as d1. Although I be seen the new expansions I’ve actually sold d2 just becuase I lost all faith I really hope this is a complete turn around for the game so it’s actually worth all the moeny I’ll have to put into it.
I remember finding this game during a free week/weekend they had in Y1 during warmind and I thought the game from a new players perspective was already pretty good then, but as soon as I saw everything about forsaken I went out of my way to pre order the deluxe edition. Havent really had that same excitement for destiny since...
Forsaken needs to be better than the taken king was cause the game is in a way worse state than D1 when taken king released. They really need this to be a 9/10 expansion or 10/10 anything less and I don’t think people will gain any trust or come back
I agree with this, I was pretty happy with House of Wolves and feeling positive about Destiny 1 at the end of year 1. This better pull out all the stops.
The biggest problem is that all these fixes and changes are being implemented into expansions is because of their lack of time and man hours it takes to implement it so for that to happen there needs to be profit made so all that time and features can be made, you cant just get hundereds of people working on stuff and expect them all to be payed if there are no consumers paying for the product. They simply need to spend multiple years working on destiny 3 for it to be worth the full price that it will cost so all the things we will end up with in destiny 2 makes it into destiny 3 and then go from there. The issue with destiny 2 was that they pretty much had the same issue with destiny 1. Vanillia launch: bad. First dlc: bad. 2nd dlc: kinda good but not good enough. Dlc 3: finally all feedback has been implemented its good! Dlc 4: its decent but nothing incredible like dlc3(meanwhile they gotta work on destiny 2) and then bam back to the beginning destiny 2 vanilla is bad and repeat... they gotta break this cycle and not have to keep to their short release schedule, they need to address the feedback and improve on things in the next content release and for this they just need more time to be able to accomplish that. Meanwhile they need a dedicated live team to implement constant bug fixes and small bits of content to keep the current game relevant while we wait for the next release, seems impossible though otherwise i feel like thats what would have been done anyways
Edsta we paid them plenty of money in d1 and they still TOOK almost EVERYTHING out, so yeah...no hope for d3, this expansion is gonna be like taken king then roi, its gonna be a good completed game after a 40 dollar dlc and another 40 dollar dlc, people will like it, then d3 will happen and with all their money they will strip us of EVERYTHING again in d3.
I'm was really impressed with all that was shown in the live stream. I did not expect new supers and 4 weapon slots. If all very exciting indeed. Bungie needs to deliver obviously but there is nothing wrong with having hope, or paying for dlc. Great video Datto. On point as per usual.
I really don’t know what to think when it comes to Bungie and the Destiny franchise. I had over 2000 hours in the first game and loved it. Granted I was mostly a crucible player, the only tie I still have to D2 is knowing the story. Crucible has been crafted for casual play and I can’t stand it, and as far as I’m concerned, the crucible in D2 is entirely irredeemable. I have always enjoyed PvE in both D1 and D2, but I don’t think I can spend any more money for like 20 hours of gameplay, maximum. After coming from a game that I practically poured my life into and got extremely invested in, I can’t express how deep my disappointment is for D2. I don’t have the words to describe how much of a letdown this game was.
The annual pass should be free for Forsaken owners and cost to people who don't own Forsaken. And the idea that you need to own the previous expansions for Forsaken is so bullshit and money grabbing from Bungie's side.
john smith Yeah, except WoW has serious discounts on all the time. They are literally selling a box in the Blizzard store that has every expansion so far and the next one too for 50€. You can buy WoW for 50€. So, if you take into account that the new expansion alone is 45€, that's 5€ for the base game and six full expansions combined. If that is not absurd value, then I don't know what is. World of Warcraft and Destiny are two completely different games, from two completely different companies. Let's make no mistake about that.
Ballet40k Agreed but you realize that right now some if these expansions are 10 years old right? As far as I remember when the Lich King came out, you couldn’t find the previous two for under 25€ anywhere. Plus the whole bundle thing will probably happen here as well since it happened with TTK. Probably not at launch but like two weeks later. Plus, the subscriptions for WoW. I understand they are different companies but the way they keep these two games relevant is almost identical.
Ok, my bad, I'll edit it out but still, I think it's more than reasonable that Bungie should offer Warmind and Osiris for free to the owners of Forsaken. (and that doesn't even include the Annual Pass which is basically another season pass). Their reputation is extremely bad and like Datto said, the fact you need the Osiris dlc so you can play another dlc is really dumb. D1's reputation wasn't as bad as D2's so many people gave Bungie a pass, but now Bungie cannot act like any other company. Selling 20$ dlc for a minimal amount of content is absurd especially when this dlc is a must owned for a different 40$ dlc. Bungie needs to clean up their mess but they're not going to and yet most of the fans(so as I) will still buy their shit because it looks good and will put a side Bungie's bs for a month or two until it will become painfully relevant again.
Bunndog Well it kinda makes sense to need the other dlcs, but it shouldn’t be necessary. The only explanation I can find behind this decision is that some of the Forsaken missions will require you to go to Mars for example. Why? Why not go to EDZ? Don’t know. But kind of dick move. Nothing too serious tho. P.S. It wouldn’t be fair for those that actually bought the first dlcs to hand them out for free to people that buy Forsaken
People's issue with the Annual pass is that they have to pay for something when they have no idea what it is. We've already been burned by preordering the 1st 2 DLCs, most of us don't want to be burned again.
Lord Kars And you can wait out on how the Annual Pass will go and just pay 40 dollars on Forsaken if you want to. Better that than pretending Bungie is holding you at gunpoint
The Casual Hamburger That would be 60 dollars for the bundled edition that comes year 1 DLCs and Forsaken Let's be frank here. There will be a bundled edition similar to TTK's legendary edition. Its a matter of when
165 dollars for 2 years of content updates and releases. Is that really too much? Games like CoD are 100 a year with no big updates after the first year.
Bradley Walker May I ask you how much time it would take you to have completed the whole game, if it's the main game u play. For me it's max 2 months, and then there is almost no PVE activities left, and if you came for pvp then there are lots of other games that does that way better.
I'll be keeping an eye on how this develops but I will definately not be buying this before/at release, Bungie still has a long way to go to get me back as the dedicated Destiny gamer, PoE (Path of Exile) has me now and going by their usual 3 monthly (free) release schedule, they will have a new league at the beginning of September I hate how far Destiny fell with Destiny 2, I was so excited with everything they released with D1, and its hard to not find what they've shown exciting, but there is no way I'm giving them any money up front this time, as said in the video, they still have a long way to go to earn back that trust.
auran82 And this is exactly why I'm encouraging everyone I know, and everyone online that will listen, not to pre-order. Don't blindly throw money at Bungie wait until you know they actually did something worth it...for once.
Yearly updates from Bungy always seem great and there is no denying that they are trying to improve game play. However its just unfathomable as to why after 4 yrs they're still tinkering? TTK and Rise of Iron were good in their own respect but personally, I was hoping the game would evolve in terms of story, content and activity (like weaponised Sparows, spaceships, wider stryke selection, different types of exploration). Instead what we're getting is more of the same. Regurgitated Prison of Elders etc. Great, but not enough to warrant playing this game. Instead of building the game from this fantastic potential, fan base and community Bungie is just milking for all its worth. Sad. Since yr 1 (playing in PS3) I enjoyed the evolutions of the game but somehow have not bothered completing D2's raid for the 1st time. Why on earth would I buy this new update? Nah, and I am sad about it but Destiny simply has not evolved enough to keep my interest...
they've evolved their monetization schemes and backhanded approach to community concerns. thats the true nature of their goals. lets not improve the actual game, but the opportunities with which we can sell players mechanically useless things.
guys guys guys, i just rewatched the destiny 2 campaign ending and realised something huge, the scene where the sphere of light expands into space, goes past all the known dlcs in order, first mercury, then mars, then the reef. So my theory is that after forsaken is a dreadnaught dlc then finally the darkness dlc.
King of Roses Warmind is actually pretty good. As far as typical $20 expansion goes, I enjoyed it far more than Dark Below / House of Wolves / Curse of Osiris.
Eh, House of wolves in my opinion was the best. It brought forth a new meta of crucible, interesting strikes, interesting characters such as Variks House of Judgement. Great Exotics, new pve gamemode prison of elders. And Trials. The best arguably best crucible gamemode that existed in D1. To each his own.
How could they make it with more depth? They mean the expansion itself has more depth, right? Curse of Osiris has nothing related to base game story, Warmind has nothing related to CoO nor base game stories and I don't see how Forsaken could fit in any of these stories. It seems I'm playing a tottaly different game in each dlc. Then they talk about depth...
They honestly need to make the games previous 20$ expansions free and give the people who bought the previous pass for d2 get something in game (just like what they did with cold heart)
Things I'm most excited for: newncruciboe game modes, 6v6 crucible playlist (though I want to choose my desired game mode instead of having a random ass playlist) and power mattering in trials and iron banner. Please don't brake the crucible because that's what I play this game for. I lived for iron banner tournaments in D1 and it hasn't been the same in D2, make it great again.
I'm not on the fence on whether it should be free or not b/c on one side this stuff should have really been in the game and should be free. a couple of months of ago bungie was fucking players left and right with bugs/glitches and lets not forget about good ole eververse. Now they show you a few shiny gems and everyone loses their minds...meanwhile the division turned itself around by saying we apologize all future DLC and content is free and we're going to overhaul the game
Agreed 100%
it will be cool if they let the hunter have the bow but make the titan have a giant hammer and the warlocks have a staff that make then give buffs and shit idk

Your comments are wise, and your screen name is fantastic. I would like the recipe please.
How much is £40 in real money??

Go to 2:50 in the vidoc :)
uuu yea
"I am not one of those people so take that as you will."
And like that my respect for you just jumped 10,000 spaces forward into Optimal DPS Range Datto.
Edit: DPS in this case being Delight Per Second.
William Beck Likewise. Bungie fucked up big time, but that doesn't mean they owe us free content; ESPECIALLY on this level.

Rains i know i should keep my expectations in check but im a major destiny geek and and my hype train is already left the station
Fair enough.
Here we are, final shape about to drop, man how time flies
nice job pumping this out on the same day as reveal
I really hppe that they let us mix and mach perks from subclass trees like in d1. They say they want us to be able to play the way we want, and that could open up some interesting combonations.
Jooshly123 i doubt that’s what they’ll do. I’m pretty sure that it’s just gonna be another 4 perks that you choose in a subclass. However i would like for them to bring that back from D1
Yes i want invis shadestep with multiple quivers
Completely agree
I wouldn't mind if they added a third perk wheel for each subclass, and gave us the option to choose like 6-8 of the perks on any wheel, that would be ok.
Jooshly123 Precision damage/increasing damage and 6 golden gun shots. That right there is why there’d be some harsh restrictions.
I was pumped that random rolls were coming back until I remembered that almost all the perks we have available in the game are complete ass.
Durgenheim and you don’t think they’ll add a single new perk?
Lol
Eh that is kind of true but let’s be honest. Even in D1 the majority of perks where garbage, and at least for me I always looked for perks that maxed my stability. Now in D2 recoil has been dumbed down so now I do feel like there is more room for better perks or even buffed perks to come with Forsaken.
Complete ass until you get a lightweight scout rifle with rampage, outlaw, and dragonfly.
Bud this is a new dlc adding in new things piece that together and that means new perks
Like how the time stamp for your thoughts is 13:37
RJ Lopez thanks
It looks like the bow is accurate in the air. Every time it shows up in the reveal they're shooting it while jumping
It will work like the hunter super does. ie it will jump you off the floor when you fire, classic bungie reusing of assets.
So, Destiny 3.... given how they have handled both D1 and D2 the optimal time to buy D3 would be the year AFTER it comes out.
D. H. That’s when I bought D2

Elias Garcia yeah its like the 10th time they said "its going to be better this time guys" and people keep falling for it.

Thanks for covering this Datto! I’m so excited for the next expansion especially now that I have a full idea of what’s going on! Keep up the great work!
You rock Datto. Love the thoughts as always. A+ content.
Oh how wrong you were
I am coming back for this, thats for sure. When you add in the previous updates (ranked etc) they have put in all i wanted.
This expansion looks very promising, but I still can’t believe the game didn’t launch with a lot of these features.
This trailer looks so damn promising
Just like every disappointing game with a good looking trailer. Not saying this will be bad, but thats a fact nowadays, few devs are really trustworthy, Bungie is no more worthy of that.
So did Destiny 2. Remember the gameplay premiere?
Malcolm X I like your picture :D
Raptor Rumble Thanks dude. I see u too are a man of culture ^^
The cost issue for me is not "paying for fixes". It's the over monetization of the game with the ever verse store and paid expansions. Pick one.
@Sneaklone the whole game is cosmetic
"Game is bad, fixes cost money. REEE."
Accurate.
The fixes are free :) only the additional content is paid
TheLegend27 "additional content" is the fix. the base game is just bad
Cavalka Br with random rolls it should be fine. That was the only problem
Cavalka Br no. They're changing the base systems. It'll be a patch like all other patches. No DLC required.

who cares, its coming and that is STILL not enough for people like you? there were way more pressing issues the rest of us wanted to deal with first.
byghostlight0 Making a simple button with some calculated dismantle rewards is a hotfix change.
A_ Troll_ same bro I'm making sure my Fireteam think before they buy. We gotta stoop the money scam at the source.
I did not buy Curse of Osiris which turned out to be a smart decision that influenced me not getting Warmind. It’s going to take a lot more than a cute reveal to get me to spend my money on this franchise again especially if i need to buy both of the previous packs just to play Forsaken...
iAmZeke_ yeah if I have to buy the last 2 dlcs to get forsaken I'm leaving destiny for good

So to play the forsaken expansion I have to pay $50 Australian dollars then I need to get the previous dlc to be able to access which costs a further $50 dollars. So now I may as just well buy another game
The Welsh Dragon yeah me too I didn’t buy warmind
The Welsh Dragon eh i bet they’ll release a discount bundle or smth, makin it a bit cheaper than a new game, plus ya get shitloads of content!

I think that Bungie has missed an opportunity to rebuild a ton of goodwill and burnish their reputation as a studio by admitting that Year One was not up to standard and making an apology that goes beyond mere words.
lorenzo89er Cry me a river.
I remember this as peak destiny; the forsaken era was the best destiny has ever been and it will be very tough for destiny to ever be this great again.
witch queen was better imo
@@Sfcfan120did you even play during forsaken era
my issue is that, Bungie has had 3 years of experience with the same audience that is there playing their game right now.
And then cry cause "nobody wants to teach the raid anymore... they are all snobs"😂😂😂
We made it datto, it turned out okay
TRIPLE SHOTGUN MEMES ARE COMING FOR US
When they said random rolls were back, they should have shown 3 different better devil's.
100 percent agree @Datto it's on my radar for one of the next things to hope to happen is the breaking up of the skill tree blocks, the variants to the supers is nice just can't wait for deeper skill trees to be starting to be worked on.
IM SO CONFLICTED!!!
*whispers*
Eververse.....
lolosh99 the perfect response to everyone saying "dlc takes money to make" yeah well that's what their slot machine is for! A high quality expansion at $40 I can understand but a bunch of low content lack luster dlc's? No.
Stfu
Minimal then why even have it lol I'm sure they are still making something off it cause it would of been changed if it wasnt
SHE SAID SHE WANTED TO EXPRESS HERSELF.
SO I GAVE HER A T H U M B S U P
I haven’t played destiny since before the dlc’s came out but this makes me want to get back into it
You know what would build my trust in Bungie a lot faster? Have this expansion be $20 and not have to buy CoO with it. You are exactly right...I don't have faith in Bungie right now, and I don't have to buy this game. I really think the content in this expansion looks great, but I won't be buying it until after it is released and I have a roadmap of their future plans. It may be petty of me, but if the price was cut in half I may have 2nd thoughts, and would be more willing to give it a chance.
Wilson Ward agreed
Well said!
It’s not petty at all. Be smart, wait for reviews and gameplay, then you can make your decision.
Will my guardian find his voice again?
Colin Whitlock sadly no
His first words were
“Will it fly?”
I really thot the description in the Twin Rabbit exotic rocket launcher said “Datto’s best”
all these changes to forsaken are neat but the biggest change this game needs is being able to delete shaders all at once instead of 1 at a time
I think it's more that people are mad that forsaken isn't a part of the expansion pass which people have spent 40$ for
ExoticWolfo54 i mean the price is literally a scam
Having to pay for a paid game should be illegal
If they put a lenz type bow into the game then my attention would be grabbed. Lenz is a super fun freeze explosion bow from Warframe.
Nightstalker mains just finally getting an actual weapon instead of only getting a bow once every four minutes. There’s a reason I run Orpheus Rigs. Now I can do both 😏
Joshua Osborne I love it when mayhem is up though. Just running around saying nope, nope, nope, not you either sit down. 🤣
Joshua Osborne you monster
Jason Rivas hey, everyone's been wanting "dark guardians"... 😉
I'm super hyped.
Also, is it just me or is Datto's mic a little quiet?
Tyler Wolfguard it is quiet
He said that in the description
Totally agree
meshuggah life thank fuck wish he would just mute it
Pok ku oh, i never looked, haha.
Great points made. Haven’t played destiny 2 since before curse of Osiris, so hope this is the taken king that we need
Honestly so hyped for the expansion, I can’t wait to jump in and explore all the different weapons I can use.
Also Big Boi Hammers for titans is lit
Austin Trussler trust me dont get your hopes up
Voi gaming Wilson didn’t get hyped for CoO or Warmind and for good reason. but if they’re saying it’s gonna be bigger than taken king I can’t help but not get excited.
Austin Trussler right lol
The new Weapon System is literally shit, you will never finish experimenting with the weapon combinations, and that's bad
The Gangsta Frog you haven’t played it yet but okay we’ll take your opinion as fact
Rise of Iron was good but can’t consider it an expansion and TTK did all the heavy work in making the game great.
you can't consider rise of iron a expansion yet it literally added a social space and a new area to patrol strikes and a raid make's sense
at about 8:00 you stated that it will probably not be retroactive -- during the livestream, the director said they had people import their home characters and everything filled in. Not sure if it will be like kills and such, but I think the collections will be.
Use the sweet business as a lmg
Zina Marshall LMG MOUNTED
Rusted brainiac AND LOADED
GOING MOBILE
STAY WITH ME BRATUKA!
Totally agree with you on the other parts though.
you forgot to add that on top of all that money just to own the game they keep expanding eververse which was supposed to pay for all of this.
Except Taken King cost about half as much as this
Guilherme Lage You only need the game and Forsaken to play Forsaken.
I wasn’t even expecting to have another expansion! So I’m all for this completely.
I'm fine with the expansion price but they need to address this.
how about either dont buy them and dont complain about them or earn them in th fucking game jeez smh
I come from the future to tell you Forsaken is the best expansion
Can confirm
I hope the Lore tab includes Grimoire collected in Destiny 1, one can dream 😅
Well, if you buy it, you're a complete fucking idiot for spending money on a game that should have been complete in the first place.
All of this is in place in the current game - why isn't it there :(
PS: Does Bungie have a suggestion box?
Ron Dgasz I believe they do have a suggestion box somewhere on their site.
Datto at 13:00
FINALLY!
AHAHHAHAHAHA
(Liked the video, the only things I hope is they promise to have Destiny 1 weapon system in. I always try to have low expectations so I can be surprised, but that's difficult when they say so much, and provide so little that I actually like.)
So we basically have to rebuy the game?
Dope
No it wasn’t the taken king was great except the raid weapons
D1 was horrible, its story was non existent and the campaign was literal garbage, d2 is way better
Edsta I have no clue for their plans after Y3/6 but they literally are breaking the cycle by having 3 extra DLCs by Y2/4.
Edsta don’t believe in D3 because tbh if it’s having the same release schedule, and being run by Luke Smith, I won’t be buying until reviews.
Meats Meats k
Meats Meats Lmao im casual and I can't stand the crucible in d2.
I was in the same boat dude. I want to come back but I moved to pc and refuse to level up or pay for the base game and 2 current DLC's again.
The annual pass should be free for Forsaken owners and cost to people who don't own Forsaken.
And the idea that you need to own the previous expansions for Forsaken is so bullshit and money grabbing from Bungie's side.
*cough* World of Warcraft *cough*
john smith Yeah, except WoW has serious discounts on all the time.
Nah, I'm fed up. A game shouldn't cost $135 to be good.
what about now
what about now
its free
I understand having to pay for the expansions but it's more than the base game itself at release. It's ridiculous
The expansion is $40, the base game at release was $60.
Rock Hunter annual pass
Lord Kars And you can wait out on how the Annual Pass will go and just pay 40 dollars on Forsaken if you want to.
Better that than pretending Bungie is holding you at gunpoint
Mohamed aka The Hawkster and the warming doc and curse of osiris so that's like $70 bud
The Casual Hamburger That would be 60 dollars for the bundled edition that comes year 1 DLCs and Forsaken
Let's be frank here. There will be a bundled edition similar to TTK's legendary edition. Its a matter of when
You keep exceeding yourself Datto! Exceptional channel!
Black Friday 2019. Thats when i buy Destiny.
By that time destiny 2 will not exist bc borderlands 3
What the first 2 season pass or the dlc along with the annual pass?
AntHill CA probably a good idea.
I JUST got Battlefield 1 with ALL the DLC for 40 bucks and I love it.
Yay a 165 dollars for the whole game
Can't wait for Y3 my boy.
That’s why I’m not buying this game
165 dollars for 2 years of content updates and releases. Is that really too much? Games like CoD are 100 a year with no big updates after the first year.
Bradley Walker May I ask you how much time it would take you to have completed the whole game, if it's the main game u play. For me it's max 2 months, and then there is almost no PVE activities left, and if you came for pvp then there are lots of other games that does that way better.
Bradley Walker lol gotta move those goalposts
Came back 5 years later gust to see what all we got… oh man we where eating back then
I'll be keeping an eye on how this develops but I will definately not be buying this before/at release, Bungie still has a long way to go to get me back as the dedicated Destiny gamer, PoE (Path of Exile) has me now and going by their usual 3 monthly (free) release schedule, they will have a new league at the beginning of September
I hate how far Destiny fell with Destiny 2, I was so excited with everything they released with D1, and its hard to not find what they've shown exciting, but there is no way I'm giving them any money up front this time, as said in the video, they still have a long way to go to earn back that trust.
auran82 And this is exactly why I'm encouraging everyone I know, and everyone online that will listen, not to pre-order.
ChawenHalo 008 they are literally using removed content as a selling point wtf is this
they've evolved their monetization schemes and backhanded approach to community concerns. thats the true nature of their goals. lets not improve the actual game, but the opportunities with which we can sell players mechanically useless things.
guys guys guys, i just rewatched the destiny 2 campaign ending and realised something huge, the scene where the sphere of light expands into space, goes past all the known dlcs in order, first mercury, then mars, then the reef. So my theory is that after forsaken is a dreadnaught dlc then finally the darkness dlc.
I will not get this if i need warmind first.
King of Roses you will sooo
King of Roses Warmind is actually pretty good. As far as typical $20 expansion goes, I enjoyed it far more than Dark Below / House of Wolves / Curse of Osiris.
Eh, House of wolves in my opinion was the best. It brought forth a new meta of crucible, interesting strikes, interesting characters such as Variks House of Judgement. Great Exotics, new pve gamemode prison of elders. And Trials. The best arguably best crucible gamemode that existed in D1.
To each his own.
Then you won't be getting it.
requires dlc 1 and 2
How could they make it with more depth? They mean the expansion itself has more depth, right? Curse of Osiris has nothing related to base game story, Warmind has nothing related to CoO nor base game stories and I don't see how Forsaken could fit in any of these stories. It seems I'm playing a tottaly different game in each dlc. Then they talk about depth...
Finally a true awe-inspiring scenario. Haven't seen such of a wonderful area in Destiny since Dreadnought.
still not worth 160$ lmfao thats half the price of a fucking play station 4
They honestly need to make the games previous 20$ expansions free and give the people who bought the previous pass for d2 get something in game (just like what they did with cold heart)
I know that this game is "in the fire," but I understand why they are charging for forsaken and the annual pass.
And that is your opinion, not mine mate.
Bungie: "Prestige lair for expassion 1 and 2 will come out on July 17th."
Datto: "FINALLY"
Players:Destiny is dead
BUNGIE: hold my beer
...hold my beer as in “lemme show you what a dead game is”
with 3 fucking shotguns it might as well be, PVP will get broken real fast and prob be avoided like the plague.
Jeremy Bolt I think it's going to be fun triple sniper I'm down
Jeremy Bolt just play in the open. Shotguns have zero range so they are crippling themselves by having no long range guns
Jeremy Bolt ya if you're bad. XD shotguns are so easy to counter
I don’t care what people say, I’ve enjoyed D2 since release, so I’m preordering.
Vexzse yup, me too.
I didn't but that's cool that you do hope you enjoy the dlc fam
same
Boom finally
I'm sorry.
