I feel the KT song wasnt 100% disrespectful but coupled with the greif taylor gets, i can see how it could be.
In terms of supporting the team he is 100000% right.
Moaning and yapping at back passes and build up play when we are top of the league with a cup in the bag and a 2:1 ratio of defeating rangers is embarrasing. Utterly utterly embarrasing.
I used to be so proud of our support but our success is ruining it.
It used to be "i support celtic"
Its now "i support celtic when we win every cup, score 100 goals a season, never lose to rangers and every player plays their best every game"
Its not just the other day, its all the time now, No one bar green brigade even makes any real noise untill we are 2-3 goals up.
Imagine an oppostion team? All the have to do is majorly park the bus and they know our crowd wont back the team.
Celtic isnt just about 6-0 wins, derby wins and CL football, its about following the club through thick and thin

This is been brewing for a while...and perhaps this will clear the air...yes criticism when due when players get lazy. ...but not when we have 1 cup won ..13 points. Ahead in the league and doing good in Europe.. Think Khun remark was a bit of a hit back to the fans as in KHUN needs to toughen up but Taylor is a warrior..dont think Khun should have been targeted by BR..
Yep. Anything short of perfection is now "Not good enough" in the eyes of so many fans. And it's not even a younger generation thing. We've got grown men in their 50's & 60's flipping their lid if we go 5 minutes without an attempt on goal etc.... These people are dotted all over the stadium.
In the last 8 full seasons since Rodgers 1st came through the door, we've won 5 trebles & two doubles and there was one season played in empty stadiums when we won nothing.
So that's 19 out of a possible 24 domestic trophies won in 8 years.
We've already got one cup in the bag this season and the league is all but wrapped up. So it's looking like another double and possibly another treble, is likely. So that'd be 22 out 27 trophies available in 9 seasons.
I mean how does that level of winning not breed an air of complacency & entitlement amongst certain people?
At lot of our supporters just expect trophy after trophy after trophy and by and large those expectations have proven well founded these last 10 years or so.
Brendan is way off the mark for me.
Greig Taylor is supposed to be a professional. Playing football is supposed to be his business. When Celtic supporters read online or in the paper about how he is intent on a move to Zagreb, we're told that's business and we understand that this is the guys career.
Well by the same token, Kieran Tierney is a part of our fandom. His potential return is a cause for celebration, whether Taylor wants to commit his career to Celtic or not.
I find the notion Taylor would be upset by this to be immensly tragic on his part. He isn't Kieran Tierney, he'll never be Kieran Tierney anymore than Adam Idah will be Henrik Larsson. It is what it is.

There is a reason I stopped subscribing months ago but got better with Hamish and John M. Tony’s happy clapping nonsense is stomach churning.
Some fans are greedy and don't have a clue how the game plays out over a season. BR right to speak out.
A former fans favourite is rumoured to be coming back to the club and the fans were chanting his name.
That really isn't a new thing. I remember the old 'jungle' chanting "Charlie- Charlie, Charlie-Charlie...." when there were strong rumours Charlie Nicholas was rejoining us in 1987. So how were Andy Walker & Mark McGhee supposed to feel at that time? In the end up we signed McAvennie and the rest is history.... but the point is, fans singing the name of an old favourite isn't the modern phenomenon that some folk think it is.
I agree with Rodgers wider point about greeting faced supporters spitting the dummy if we're not 3-0 up after 20 minutes. But again that element of the support has always existed. Some people have zero patience and that's just the way it's always been.
I think it's made worse now by how expensive football has become to watch. People want some "bang for their buck" as the Yanks say, and they want some free flowing entertaining football and they want it every game because they are spending a small fortune over the course of a season in order to be in the stadium.
Rightly or wrongly that's just how a fair % of people view it - "I've paid my money and I want some value for money...."

Genuinely think the fans are just excited to see a fan favourite coming back to the club. James forrest has been a 1 man club and hasnt thrown the dummy out of the pram afrer no song be sung in his name yet still goea down a legend of tge club. No disrespect to greg taylor at all he has been a great servant to the club now if he wants to stay then he woukd hae signed his new contract and woukdnt be in this situation if he feels his playing days are elsewhere then fair play.
From an objective non-Celtic fan standpoint, I can see why Brendan is annoyed at those who so casually forget all the success he has had, and is still having, and reduce everything to one bad freak result.
I’d rather BR had a pop at the potential red cards for Jefte , Balogun against us , the hold on CCV in the cup final and every penalty decision we don’t get , have the media “dig in” to those while we are on top rather than have a pop at the hard working supporters who consistently put money in to the club.
As for Taylor I think he’s a decent player and having recently seen Bernabei and Laxalt in that position, maybe we shouldn’t be giving him too much stick but if he hasn’t signed a new contract why isn’t he being treated like Vata and Kelly last year by BR , although that answer is pretty obvious

Strachan said the job has a shelf life of 3 or 4 years due to the pressures of the job. Rodgers showed that yesterday - the support has to look at the bigger picture of the progression that the team is making. Whichever way you want to put it, entitlement or high standards of the support, there was a reason to panic/hysteria of the rangers game. I can only see this being why the shelf life of the job is what it is and Rodgers will be on his way at the end of contract

I agree we need a couple of wingers and I’d want a left back, and I’m not sure on idah too, but both him and Engels are relatively young so to judge them now just shows the short termed mindset of a lot of the support. Over the first few months do you think kuhn would be the player he is now? Let’s see where both of them are this time next year. He’s openly stated he wants Taylor to extend his contract.
He’s also acutely aware that Barcelona are not in a position to sell Valle to Celtic as they themselves are having problems with Transfers and FFP.
We need to have both players at Celtic and I think that’s his plan.
Tierney will bring flexibility in terms of options as he can operate as a wingback.
Taylor can continue to operate in the inverted role.
Bottom line is though he knows we have to rotate with Tierney to keep him fit.

The elephant in the room here is the enmity shown towards Greg Taylor on a regular basis. Is it any wonder he doesn't want to sign a contract?
Tony you are sucking up to Brendan to keep in with him for when you put question to him in the press conferences. Saying you agree with everything Brendan says is merely a political response.
Brendan was right to stick up for G.T. but wrong to tell the fans how to behave.
And it's wrong alluding to its only the fans who didn't want him back that are criticising him. I wanted Brendan back and I think he is achieving great things, but I don't have to agree with everything he says. Fans have a right to voice their views wither they are positive or negative. As good as Brendan has done he got complacent against Rangers and Clement schooled him on tactics and application on Sunday. Greg Taylor has been a great servant and ultimate professional for Celtic, but many fans do not think that he is good enough to be a regular in the team. I agree with Brendon that the singing for K.T. was disrespectful towards G.T., but you have to accept that the fans have a right to express what they think as long as its not hateful.
Brendan was to condescending towards the fans suggesting they didn't understand football, some who have watched football longer than Brendan has!. You can still be very knowledgeable about football being a fan. Brendan doesn't understand the fans frustration with sideways and backwards football in dangerous areas. Brendan condescendingly said that sometimes they have to pass back to change attack (dough!). That's missing the point, the fans are frustrated with tippy tappy backwards and sideways passing in and outside our own box between McGregor, Taylor, and a centre half which only invites pressure in dangerous areas when they could be more creative and direct with the ball by getting it forward quicker.
When Taylor and McGregor were left out of the team recently we won at a canter with hardly any shots on our goal because we were playing the ball forward at every opportunity, the play was more fluid and direct. On Sunday McGowan was put under pressure in midfield, yet he slipped his opponent and passed forward quickly which led to a goal.

The performance against Rangers wasn’t poor, it was awful. What appeared as lack of effort hurt more than the defeat. Taylor is out of contract, so is he staying with us. The KT transfer has been bumbling away for months, could be the main reason Taylor wants away?
I don't think Taylor does want away.
I think he wants to stay but at 27yo his next 4-5 year contract (wether it's at Celtic or elsewhere) will be his last big contract of his career and he wants to be payed what other senior players at Celtic get paid.
I don't think Celtic can financially justify having two of our top wage earners both playing the same position. That is what would be the case if we bring back KT AND give Taylor the contract he''s after.
The perfect solution for Celtic is:
- KT 1st choice LB (and paid accordingly)
- GT 2nd choice LB (and also paid accordingly)
I think that'd suit 99% of Celtic fans just fine BUT it doesn't suit Greg Taylor so here we are! Stalemate.

Ange made the joke in Australia that he’d lost one game in a year and had to leave the country. Some of our fans are torture with their moaning and need to stop it, it ruins a game sitting listening to them. But BR had no business stirring this up in the media creating a wee cloud over us and he should have picked his words for that forum a bit better. Haven’t even been able to laugh at Phil with all this carry on.

I think there’s a lot of moving parts. Brendans dead set on re signing Taylor but due to Taylor’s performances in recent times the support and rightly so have been vocal. BR probably starting to feel that’s obviously directly affecting the chances that GT re signs so is annoyed. It’s the game after we just got quite frankly not just beaten, but embarrassed by them in the derby so everyone’s a bit on edge. Again the singing for KT he may feel is affecting the GT contract situation

Fans are fickle at the worst of times and even more so at the best of times.
Any Celtic fan under the age of 25 hasn’t really experienced a Celtic side with genuine problems bar one blip during a Season where football was turned on it’s napper in the midst of a Global Disaster.
We’ve dominated the Domestic game for the best part of quarter of a Century at Celtic.
So we have a fanbase in real transition in that time from an older generation who experienced the real highs of Lisbon and 9 in a row to the real lows of the 90’s when it very nearly ended altogether in 94 as the chequebook rivals romped from trophy to trophy with a swagger wider than Connor McGregors ring walk.
The young team led by the faux rebels with bull horns have decided that anything less than a 3-0 lead at half time is unacceptable levels at Celtic, which is frankly ridiculous.
That’s not how Fitba works folks every point has to be earned and every opponent has to be worked out and defeated on the park.
All Brendan has done is come out and defend a player who is here and has played almost 200 games for Celtic ,whom he obviously rates higher than most who slate that player whilst also pointing out that the player they are singing about hasn’t yet re signed as a Celtic player.
These are the same fans incidentally who thought it was a great idea to start singing about the fabled _Terry Munro_ 5 years before he failed to make an appearance at Celtic Park during that Covid Season.
Sing about players who are here,putting a shift in ,sing about 10 in a row when no 10 has the green and white ribbons on it and the engraver has put Celtic Fc on the the Trophy.
Ultimately you will be made to look a real dafty when it’s doesn’t materialise.
The levels of entitlement unfortunately grow in football with the success levels that’s always been an issue.
It was an issue at Liverpool,Man United,Rangers,Milan,Madrid ,Barca etc etc etc .
Now whether you choose to acknowledge it or not IS a problem at Celtic.

Too much is being made of the KT song, the journalist asked that straight off the back of Rodgers venting frustration at the fans not backing the team and got the reaction he was looking. For what it's worth i think he was wrong on that one.
With regards the fans complaining he's right, just read some of the comments on here after 4-0 victories, so many moaning and it's completely unwarranted.

Think Brendan is right about the support needing to back the team for 90 mins but the kieran Tierney song is ridiculous. Supporters are allowed to sing a song for who they want. Maybe they are a bit premature but you cant really blame them to much. Don't believe it was meant as dig at GT
