- You've seen me pull of the infamous Bloodcastle strategy a few days ago, today we're going for a different challenge! I want to make Banshees, control neutral creeps, and keep them where they naturally spawn to surprise my opponent!

This is the perfect example of why Arthas was so frustrated with Sylvanas in the story that instead of killing her he raised her as undead.
It's crazy how little you know about the creep mechanics after 20 years! Sometimes they just go berserk and destroy your base!
I like it most when grubby does that banshee "Hiii" Sound.

The first game that I played that had a way for players to control random enemies while the other player tried to beat the campaign was Perfect Dark on the N64. That game had a mode called "counter operative" and it acted the opposite of cooperative. The second player would be able to play as one of the NPCs from the campaign and would be tasked with trying to stop the other player from completing the game. The now non-npcs would still have the same health, weapons, etc. I loved this game mode and wished more games used this mechanic. Left 4 dead is another game that used this mechanic, albeit in a different form.
Perfect Dark GOATed second to Goldeneye Eye. It had so many cool features. How about the trainings you could do in headquarters outside of the missions? Or the AI opponents with personalities (cowardly, camper, etc)

Perfect Dark was so far ahead of it's time. It was so hard for me to go from Perfect Dark to Halo, because I felt insulted by how simple Halo was compared to Perfect Dark.
I love that Corridors of Time is playing in the background.. easily one of my favorite video games tracks ever

That was the strangest and most amusing game I've seen in some time! And it ended with one heck of a boss fight!
Come for the creeps, stay for the banshees and acolytes clowning on the warden. And the lone banshee dueling the warden. And the warden becoming an actual raid boss
@Grubby. In Heroes of Might and Magic 3 HotA there's an option allowing your opponent to control neutral monsters in battles, which makes it absolutely crazy. Definitely worth a try.
Warframe actually did this thing. There is a boss enemy the Stalker he randomly can appear on the level. And developers just made an event where they randomly load to the level as a Stalker. The funniest part that players didn't know about that for a while before devs revealed it. And when some players start noticing this stuff and talking about that there is was a bunch of other ppl who thought that they lie. Was one of my fav time in the game i was so confused and hyped when it happened to me
Grubby losing all his 80 pop to a Warden that kept cloaking underneath a POTM owl was the saddest painful thing I've ever seen.
funny you mention this idea grubby...something very similar came from a glitch in Dark Souls 3. Where players would invade another players "world". Usually you would just fight the players trying to defeat or "get to" the boss...The "host" player would either have to defend themselves or rush to get to the boss room which would send the "invader" back to their world...but for a very short time, someone had figured out a glitch where players that belonged to a certain covenant were able to go one step further and join the player within the boss room to actually help the Boss kill the original "host" player. i had a blast with this glitch for as long as i could exploit it, admittedly. haha, keep up the good deeds.

This strategy would be even better against somebody who wasn't doing a sneaky solo Warden build.
And think of how it would be if you had possessed creeps like the ones around the Fountain, but also had an actual army waiting off to the side to do a pincer attack when your opponent starts creaping there.

They did something like this in Warframe where there is an intruder "boss" enemy. Sometimes they played as the stalker on their developer stream to infiltrate unaware players. Usually this fight against the stalker is a little tricky for new players and something to just brush off as veterans but with a player controlled stalker it seemed to be pretty more annoying to veterans.
Runescape had such a thing happen. During presentation of the game, devs didn't have time to make an ai for some npcs and enemies, so they just acted as ones
01:44 I've done it once when i ran an ultima online private server among friends when i was in highschool. I've possessed a lich, and waited for my friend - soon to be victim to come to me. I've told him that i was using an advanced AI script on some of the mobs, and told him it was pretty badass (just to lay the foundation for my trick) Anyhow, I've acted like an NPC until he came and attacked me (idling, moving 1 square once a while in a random direction etc...) but when he attacked me i whopped his ass with my magic - he had just started on the server, normally if you were good enough you could kill a lich, but since i was behind the wheel, he had no chance... it was hilarious, not only cuz he died but i wanted to add insult to injury and followed him as a ghost to the town, where he mistakenly used his macro to call the guards and the guards showed up and attacked my ghost form - revealing my trickery as i died and in the end it was fun for both of us.
I was just looking for some more recent Grubby Undead plays and this came in perfect (fairly new to the channel).

GRUBBY!!! I've envisioned the same thing with video games too! Like for playing a campaign in Rome: Total War, Warcraft, RPG's, etc.
I doubt you would even need to pay people to play NPC's. I think the gaming community would really enjoy that.
So just like queueing for a game would involve the normal human players plus human controlled "npc's" from a queue, as well.
I'd be the first in line to control them. I think my life is leading me to become a DnD DM.
I also like the idea, but I think the trolling people just love to do would destroy the experience
The problem really isn't in people's motivation to try. But the skill differences are drastic. It's Natural Selection 2, Left 4 Dead 2, you get to play the threat but you have to perform or it becomes boring and trivial super fast. "AI" always gives you a minimum amount of resistance that is easy to tune via stats. A human player has the potential to just stand still and do nothing.

It's the best and really only revenge against the tyranny of night elf and how they terrorized warcraft 3 for so long.

its not the beginning fight, its in the swamp area and you have to be summoned, it was a cool idea, which is underutilized, very cool to wait for a player in the boss room and have them message you please let me win and then you say NO! you shall die mortal! lol

player controlled bosses? you are talking about a wonderful game called evolve. unfortunately, the servers were taken down to avoid bad publicity over them price gouging a playable character for $49.99 such a good game
Evolve: first person shooter 4 hunters vs 1 monster boss thing that starts weaker but by eating things and evolving eventually gets stronger. hunters have to find and kill monster before it gets strong, but it cant heal and damage carries over so even if it gets to stage 3 it could be too wounded to last
Funny enough grubby in Phantasy Star Online (2001). There was a secret way to play as the first boss to gain control of it and then you can kill your party as it.
