that 50 shades of grey author started out uploading to a fanfiction website! She later realised that if she changed the characters names and tweaked the story she had a piece of work of some merit in it's own right. I'm guessing that if self-publishing is your goal - which is open to everybody via Amazon KDP for example - then you will need to invest $$$ in the secret sauce ie. a killer marketing strategy.
@@roathripper Well, that's something I'm mulling over currently. There is a couple of ideas I do kick around for such a thing. They require quite a bit of work to do though.
Yes! If you’ve got nothing out there than you’re not going anywhere for sure. Cast yee net far and wide. (quote of the day 😝🤣) (Pastor Nick) I think a lot of people have never thought about the marketing side to all the fun stuff out there like being a writer, music, movies, entertainment, anything art related they’re not necessities that people have to spend money on, you have to throw your work out there and hope you get a bite. Troll the pond, find the hot spots, maybe find some fishin buddies along the way.
Honestly, I don’t think any of my books will become bestsellers. My writing is far too esoteric and verbose to ever appeal to a mass audience. I wish that were not the case, but when I look at the kind of books that sell the most copies, I can’t help but shake my head. I refuse, however, to dumb down my writing in order to reach a broader audience.
As a writer who hopes to be published in the future this was very informative. Thank you!
More book stuff, please.
11 min. of rambling . . . . Need more Chris Gore interviews. He gets into precision and technical detail.
AS a writer of scripts that I make into books- found this interview very interesting . worthwhile advice also.
always interesting to hear Andrew's take on his experiences. thanks FC
huh. I was wanting to go traditional, but perhaps I need to look at doing the self-publishing route as well. Thanks FC

O Awsome info. Kudos! thanks for the knowledge.
I think he may be the most professional smart author you’ve had on here. He knows.
Thank you! But to quote the great William Goldman, “Nobody knows anything.”

what about the darwinian principle: 'adapt or die' ?
@@roathripper We are more than just animals. No writer that I respect ever succeeded by following such a mantra.
