11 min. of rambling . . . . Need more Chris Gore interviews. He gets into precision and technical detail.

huh. I was wanting to go traditional, but perhaps I need to look at doing the self-publishing route as well. Thanks FC

that 50 shades of grey author started out uploading to a fanfiction website! She later realised that if she changed the characters names and tweaked the story she had a piece of work of some merit in it's own right.
I'm guessing that if self-publishing is your goal - which is open to everybody via Amazon KDP for example - then you will need to invest $$$ in the secret sauce ie. a killer marketing strategy.

@@roathripper Well, that's something I'm mulling over currently. There is a couple of ideas I do kick around for such a thing. They require quite a bit of work to do though.

Yes! If you’ve got nothing out there than you’re not going anywhere for sure.
Cast yee net far and wide. (quote of the day 😝🤣) (Pastor Nick)
I think a lot of people have never thought about the marketing side to all the fun stuff out there like being a writer, music, movies, entertainment, anything art related they’re not necessities that people have to spend money on, you have to throw your work out there and hope you get a bite.
Troll the pond, find the hot spots, maybe find some fishin buddies along the way.

Honestly, I don’t think any of my books will become bestsellers. My writing is far too esoteric and verbose to ever appeal to a mass audience. I wish that were not the case, but when I look at the kind of books that sell the most copies, I can’t help but shake my head. I refuse, however, to dumb down my writing in order to reach a broader audience.
