Gon is easily my favourite protagonist in all of anime. Hunter x Hunter does such an outstanding job of portraying the human psyche as the multi-dimensional enigma that it is! Not all who are 'wrong-doers' are bad and not all who are 'do-gooders' are good. Gon's transformation was a decision on his part to make a covenant with himself, much like his friend Kurapika, and shows a terrifying strength of will. He is also just a child who lost someone that he loved. A person who was his strongest link to his estranged (at the time) father. A person he admired. Man, what a masterpiece!
I mean I also think he is a perfect main character, with few flaws. However I also believe there are many to contend with him, for example musashi from vagabond
“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”
The anime did Kite so dirty, well the 2011 anyways. They completely removed Kite from Gon’s childhood, he didn’t become a hunter because of the stories Mito said to him or other things (It’s been a while since I watched 2011) but Kite actually explained what a hunter was to Gon. I don’t know why they removed that. In the Chimera ant arc, it just makes it seen like Gon overreacted which is controversial. I don’t see Gon as a bad character of a good character, I think he’s just in the neutral position at this point while Killua is slowly being introduced into the lighter side of things. I mean think about it, Ging would’ve probably reacted this way too. Just giving up everything for a person he cares about.
"I don't know why they removed that" because at the time the manga hadn't had Kite reappear, so by that point they didn't know Kite was going to be important.
@@endlessein that makes perfect sense. i love death note and it was nice for him to put the same type of ost in hunter. same as shiro sagisu. i loved magi and bleach and i believe he did berserk right?

so this this the power of a hero's rage of their heart turning to the darkness and saying i need you to kill my most hated enemy the raw pain of light twisted into the horrible truth of the human mind and heart....all things break be wary of a hero who has lost that which he fights for you'll find them worse than the monster they fight
no, it's the "hero" showing his true side. Gon was no hero. He was a psychopath, unhinged from the very beginning. He would be prepared to kill at any moment, especially those who lie to his face. Of course, he lets it happen, just so he doesn't feel any remorse when he returns everything tenfold towards you.
The 1:20 and the beginning are the most end of the world parts in my opinion. It's simply the end, there would be no rise in tempo, no fighting back. But the 2:28 is exactly that, its pure hatred poured onto one being. The 1:20 part is despair, a realization that nothing can be done. Not only does that relate to the end of the world but also the anime.
This is one of the greatest songs ever to express the sadness and pain of an individual, then the unfathomable amount of rage and wrath that he or she has. I love songs that express these emotions so vividly but unfortunately I cant find enough of them.

I play DnD with friends and our DM was using this ost as background music as we were prepping to enter the boss fight of our underdark arc at the time. We had snuck our way into the drow city by getting one of our elven party members to commit black face and pose as a guard bringing back prisoners(the rest of us non elfs). Our goal was the assassination of the drow queen, known as the Phantom. The Phantom had previously ambushed our party at 3rd level and killed one of our members, we were now level 6 and ready for payback. So anyway, a couple of us with high stealth managed to break free from the prisoner train, while the rest were imprisoned( our black face mole left the cell doors unlocked). The stealthed group made its way to the boss building and proceeded to climb to the roof where they could see through a glass skylight window. At the same time, the imprisoned group was busy trying to incite a riot among the prisoners. One of the roof top members attempted to use the "message" spell to communicate with an imprisoned member and after rolling high on some skill check to determine if they could reach the imprisoned member, the DM allowed it. We checked in on each other and when both groups confirmed they were ready to initiate, 2:28 of this ost began. Rooftop group gave the order and prisoner party initiated the riot, it was utter chaos, and we watched from the roof as the Phantoms guards left the room to suppress the riot, the music ramped up even more. As soon as we saw all the guards who were going to leave, leave; we all simultaneously jumped and crashed through the glass skylight and landed in front of the Phantom as she lay in her throne. At the EXACT moment that we all jumped, 3:14 started playing. The rest of our party came bursting through the doors and it was like an "avengers assemble" type moment and it was so fucking epic. edit: raid type shit "whats up bitch? remember us?" basically

What Pitou did went beyond scratching the furniture, knocking down knick knacks, and going outside the litterbox.
this masterpiece is blessing my soul fr
Gon and Pitou are the scariest people in the show and you CANT convince me otherwise
dark continent we back baby
THEY ARE COMMING BACK, GUYS!!!
