Man, this version of clemens was my hero when I was younger. My little league wind-up was just like his.

Yeah. Nothing like a young Clemens with the Red Sox. Loved that set up & release. Reminded me of a cobra strike.

Clemens was a hall of fame before he took steroids.

Not only a HOFer....but threw probably the best 3k innings ever pitched.

Should have 5 Cy Youngs as a Redsox....he was totally ripped off in 1990.....and in 1992.
Also, with a sabermetric, new age view of his last season in 1996....he arguably was the best pitcher in the AL.

Pedro was better. But Pedro was better than everyone so perhaps not a fair comparison.

add Pedro and Sandy Koufax career totals and you get Clemens' career totals. He was so dominant for 24 seasons.

He was better inning for inning. But Cemens threw 2000 more innings.
Pedro cracked 230 innings in a season once, Clemens had probably a dozen or more.

@@dukedematteo1995 Pedro had limitations due to his body size etc. He didn't take steroids to extend his career , thus had a more natural life span of a pitcher. People miss the whole point of what seroids due for players. It will extend a player that is reaching 500 homers and negate the burnout so he can end up at 600.

@@gregorywatters3614 Clemens had 3,500 innings by the time he was 36 and 100 WAR. (Pre Yankee, pre Roids) I think both Clemens and Pedro are top 5 ever btw. Its a toss up to me...
It was more about the size difference than the steroids IMO. No way to prove that but Clemens just wasnt injury prone, pitched every 5 days and was a horse with tree trunk legs. Its a little different.
I could buy ur claim more with a hitter, I think its a little different with starting pitchers. Other great pitchers of the era were putting up career years in their mid 30s, and logged more innings per year....Unit, Schilling, Smoltz, Brown Maddux etc.
Pedro was just a small dude he seemed to wear down a bit by Sept sometimes. But yes, inning for inning Pedro was the best pitcher of the era who just bc of his size and durability problems didnt log alot of innings and aged out a little early. But at his peak he was best of the Big 4 from the 90s/00s.
