    Personally, being referred to as the "Cheapest Family" is an INSULT! You all should be referred to as the "SMARTEST" family! You live your lives in a way that we should all aspire to because it MAKES SENSE! Your family is truly an inspiration and without sounding condescending, I am truly proud of all of you and you truly live the American Dream. Fantastic family with wonderful values!

      You are so sweet. We do feel like "America's Cheapest Family" is derogatory and inaccurate, but it was a name given to us by Good Morning America and it gave us a platform to share lots of encouragement to millions of people. So, as much as we like being MoneySmart, the moniker of the Cheapest Family still sticks.

    Smart people, I hate wasting money. I use coupons, discount, buy one get one free, consignment, Craigslist . My husband and I work less, worry less, less stress, debt free, pay our bill on time, barely eat out, we spend more time together, enjoying our beautiful home . We save money and we are happy.

    AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME!!!I'm a Combat Veteran with over 15 years of service. I came back from Afghanistan in late 2011 to a United States in trouble. I noticed it then, it has actually been in trouble long before I was born. To truly help our better economy, social society, lower crime, better health, happier lives and the list goes on and on, we need to adapt our own style of similar mentality. Everyone is different NO DOUBT ABOUT IT, BUT who doesn't want to save!!!! Who doesn't want to have ZERO DEBT!!!!Great intro video to your book. I'm getting a book! Thank you.

    About 10 years ago I started to watch your videos and read your tips on your website. The very first things I started to adapt was having a budget and buy a fridge with a three-drawer freezer. It was an interestfree purchase for ten months and using the freezer literary saved the payment every month! I keep rewatching your videos for a decade now. February last year I paid back my students loan and this April as a 36th birthday present my home was paid too! I am debtfree after 18 years, so half my life. You two and Dave Ramsey helped me a lot. Thank God and thank you from the bottom of my heart. Oh and it's ironic that I'm reading your books now finally! I waited for ten years for it. They are awesome. Thank You and God bless you. Greetings from Hungary ♥️

    I save by buying online. No tax, free shipping. Where we live our tax is high. So, I avoid paying it when I can.

      This is definitely one option, as long as you know your prices. Buying things used from Amazon, Ebay and half.com are also good options. We're noticing more and more Used/Excellent condition franchises popping up online. It's amazing how the world is changing!

    Note on the crock pot...if your power goes out and does not come back on your stuck...your food is wasted and you best have a plan B. food can remain out at room temperature for 2 hours max and if you did not catch it when it happened your Roast that you put in or lasagna is all ruined. It happened to me and It sucked. We had to spend extra money to eat out because dinner went bad.

    • @MoneySmartFamily
      @MoneySmartFamily  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Zair, we are so sorry this happened to you! Our power rarely goes out, so we will probably still be using our crockpot regularly. I always keep back up foods in the house for emergencies. Things like boxes of mac n cheese and canned soups, this way running to a restaurant doesn't have to be the only option for us.

    I'm a single mother of 3 wonderful kids and I'm in a very tight budget situation.
    I have multiple health problems such as lupus, asthma, diabetes and other stuff.
    I need help!
    I need to learn how to save money in food.
    I admit it, I spend hundreds of dollars a month in eating out because I'm always tired with work and lupus.
    I don't know how to use coupons, little less do I know how to use them in a huge grocery shopping trip.
    Can you please help me?

    • @MoneySmartFamily
      @MoneySmartFamily  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Eunice, coupons are not the only way to save money with groceries. All 3 of our books should be available at your public library. Start with either the first book, America's Cheapest Family Gets You Right on the Money for general household finances and Budgeting or our second book, Cut Your Grocery Bill in Half, to learn dozens of strategies for saving when you buy food for your family. You can do this!

    The info the husband mentioned about the cost of meds is very off. You can get your meds prescribed for three months, but that won’t save you 66% of your copay. It’s not a buy one get two for free kinda deal. You pay the copay for three months of meds at the same time. You get a discount if your insurance allows it. That’s it. Not anything close to saving 66%

    • @MoneySmartFamily
      @MoneySmartFamily  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for clarifying. Your right, but this TV spot was shot several years ago and back then the rules would allow one co-pay for 3 months worth of meds. The Affordable Care Act changed many things.
