I really love your problemsolving from an engineering standpoint as well as that you give people with disabilies (and people that want to eat while gaming) a chance to enjoy their favorite games even more
This would actually be so useful for people that may have gotten the switch back then but now only have one arm due to disease or just have their arm in a sling due to injury. Well done. This is not just gimmicky. It's amazing.
Imagine being this skilled, but also being great at editing, and also extremely funny. You can join the other triple threat youtubers like nerrel and studson studios
That’s amazing! You became the king of controller accessories over the years, it’s been an awesome journey to watch unravel. I like how the switch controller really works well as a one handed one with such a small frame and how close the buttons are. Too bad for the joystick drift hahaha
@@AkakiKuumeri definitely do that :D Something that I noticed is the super low and clicky button travel on the switch seems to make the pressing on the levers so much better too. We could potentially take off the buttons cover and make our own 3D printed clicking structure on too of the board for lower and better press traveling but PlayStation controller for example have pressure sensitive buttons if I’m not mistaking so I’m not sure how doable it is without having to solder or something.
@@TomatePasFraiche could be the shorter travel buttons and could also be the greater accuracy of the SLA printed parts, as well as using metal shafts instead of all FDM parts.
This is amazing! I actually have been using an antiquated one handed (left hand) remote. I played competitive WARFACE which is crazy . After 2 years it finally broke. I’ve been in a motorcycle accident years ago and can’t use my right arm etc . Im bed ridden as a result. Switch was my escape . This looks like you might have figured it out ! Great work sir !
Excellent work! Honestly never thought about how these kinds of controller setups would allow so many more people to (re-)enter gaming so easily, namely amputees and those born with non-standard hands (for lack of a better phrase); my one suggestion might be for the face-button arms to basically make them extra trigger buttons (holding a trumpet or saxophone comes to mind, if you take my mean), as the constant motion of using your middle finger for that just sounds like a pain & less intuitive. Keep Up The Good Work!
I know this video is slightly old, but I just found it and it's really cool. For the right-hand controller, making the underside d-pad buttons more like the lefty ABXY buttons might be useful so they're nice and big if people re-map the buttons and joysticks to swap the sides. (Since that's a Switch console feature.) This could be good for games with complex left stick inputs like on Smash, or for something like Splatoon where camera and aiming are best with motion controls. (I thought about it because I wondered if you could make that game work, and with button remapping I think you can!)
this is awesome and its so cool to see your process of finding new solutions to each of the problems you encountered, while keeping comfort and ergonomics at the forefront
Dude I'm in awe about how detailed your designs are, I don't have a need to play one handed, but watching this made me want to try it out! lol Fascinating work!! 👏🏽👏🏽
A really great idea and brilliant execution 👏 I would have never thought it possible 😅 Great work and thank you for thinking about people who can't enjoy the fun of playing otherwise 💚
You should patent this. Not to make money, but to protect it from patent trolls or anyone trying to profit off this. I think this is a wonderful solution to those in the community with certain handicaps. Good work!
This is amazing! Such a cool video to see the design process and the challenges and problems you overcame. AND this is amazing from an accessability standpoint too!
I really appreciate your video, it bring me back to memories with a friend in middle school with a birth defect, we play gravity guys a lot on my smart phone, I wish him lived a good life.
Very, very cool man. Excellent work. Very much appreciate the engineering and design that goes into this. Also love the sense of humor you bring. Keep up the great work!
Whenever I see accessibility controllers I'm always mind blown. Not only is it a great thing to help everybody game but it's surprising how people can comprehend that many controls in one hand
I just ordered one of these. I’ve been handicapped since 2016 and been limited to only playing Pokémon. I’m looking forward to getting Zelda. Thank you!…I may get smash bros too. I used to love that game. Thank you so much for opening gaming back up to me!
"When I move the whole device up dragging on that purple block... see zelda... she runs forward" Was way funnier than it ever should be. I'm crying. 🤣. The delivery was absolutely spot on. 11/10 would recommend.
since first i became aware of your work, i've come by a couple 3d printers. got your xbox controller hotas and - holy moly that's a lot of stuff in that one item lol many thanks
This is really cool. I don't know how to pull it off but in order to allow playing for extended period of time, it would be good if could angle the grip to fit the natural position of your hand and wrist
This is simply amazing! 8 years ago, I lost my left arm due to an illness and haven't been able to fully enjoy console games since, only PC games with a Razer Naga Pro mouse. I just placed an order from your Etsy store, thank you for making this possible.
EY! THIS IS AMAZING! I have a brain lesion so I can’t move my left hand for three year now and this one can definitely be a solution for me to can back to play videogames!
Stuff like this often reminds me of how software is also a major component in making games much more playable with one hand. Robust input remappers like steam input really let you make tons of games more accessible to people on standard controllers, or even more special ones like the steam controller.
Too busy to watch whole video but I gotta say this is super doppeee. I figured after seeing the work Microsoft did that more companies would do this for people who need it I suppose I didn't realize it's rare, you're a hero bro keep it up.
It would be Amazing if you sold more of these! My fiancé can only use her right hand and loves playing switch but she’s only able to play turn based or slow paced games that I can reconfigure the controls for one hand so she can play
Fantastic job! I once proposed making a one handed controller to a friend and it was shot down as being "stupid". I have both hands but wanted to be able to eat snacks while playing games lol. In all seriousness, I love that someone went through with it for more noble reasons.
The gift that keeps on giving. You really do deserve an award of some sort. Also, I'm shocked and surprised that you haven't made this a way living by making controllers for physically impaired people. I wouldn't be surprised if my Google news widget in the near future alerts me to some gamer that broke a new record by beating a dark (or we can include demon) souls game with just a one handed controller if it hasn't already been done before.
Anyone else notice he only used the one hand while both inserting the joycons and showing showing controller. Don’t know if it was intentional but it really solidifies how someone with one hand can reasonably use this!
It's a fantastic design. I'm grateful for all the time that you put into making all these different consoles accessible for everyone. Is this adaptation for the original Nintendo switch or for the new Nintendo switch oled?
Because this project is for the Joy-Con controllers and not the console itself, it's compatible with both versions of the Switch, since they both use the exact same models of Joy-Con.
I use a 3d printed joycon holder so i can game using only my right arm I almost cut my finger off a year ago and got electrocuted recently in my left arm so atm I got mine from a etsy page which had the 3d model on its page so you can print your own or buy it from the page if you don't have a 3d printer
First of all, thanks for such amazing video. Although it could be nice if u can upload your design for those who cannot pay for your final design, maybe one of the previous version so anyone could use your job Amazing video btw
These are really cool and game-changing (literally) for some people, but the price is a bit steep 😬 I know someone who can only play with one hand and they prefer to just emulate the games and play on PC rather than spend the money for the console, game *_and_* a controller attachment of this price. I'm sure you put a ton of work into these but $250 isn't exactly ideal for most people
The worst part about the Wii remote was being left-handed. They even went through the trouble of changing Link's handedness. Obviously it didn't matter for Twilight princess but it pretty much ruined skyward Sword
you should make one with out using a table so like have the controllers be in one hand but have both controllers fit in you hand and can be controller with just one hand with out needing a table or anything to rest it on and just have your hand control everything
bro the thing is if you have left and right one handed grip you can play smash bros with yourself :) thats so cool for someone like me who dont have any friends
"Zelda she runs forward" I won't believe a word you say after this point :)
🤣
for a second i thought you could play as zelda then 💀
That is actually when i stopped watching.
😆
given all the other jokes he threw in there I'm pretty sure that was intentional.
I really love your problemsolving from an engineering standpoint as well as that you give people with disabilies (and people that want to eat while gaming) a chance to enjoy their favorite games even more
I didn't think about the eat while gaming part lol
@@javianbrown8627 me neither even though I’m eating right now
Pokemon is a great game to play while eating due to the one hand feature

Best use of a 3D Pen ever. Also a great demonstration of how FDM 3D printers for those who don't "get it".
Im not disabled in any way but im happy there are people like you creating things to help people feel more normal
Definitely widens the accessibility of a lot of these games, great work!

I like how the switch controller really works well as a one handed one with such a small frame and how close the buttons are.

It took a few iterations to get there! I wonder if I could take some of the ideas in this Switch one and bring them to the PS and Xbox ones.
@@AkakiKuumeri definitely do that :D

Very cool, i Know the people who need this we’re ecstatic to finally see a controller focused for them
