Amazing staircase and ceiling artwork at the beginning. And I loved the huge portrait of Alexander I on the horse! Thank you! Can’t wait until I can travel to Russia myself.

I took the overnight boat from Helsinki to St Pete...went directly to the Hermitage, checked my bag..stay the entire day. Same thing second day. The most wonderful trip of my life...3 days of White Nights. I am in love with St Pete.

Awesome the library lookes like the rooms in Scotty's Castle in Death Valley National Park. They built it in the early 1900s by a millionaire but looks 13th century European type with lots of walnut wood.

Not entirely unexpected. King charles II is in his 70s and if he is as long lived as his parents Prince william likely has 25 years to wait until he ascends to the throne . 2047 perhaps?

First your panoramic is gloriously beautiful ~ The Tsar would be very impressed ~ 🤴🏰
    💮🌸❇️💠💮🌸❇️💠🏰🌸❇️💠💮🌸❇️
    Gorgeous Sergei ~ 1764 ~ Art Collection Started ~ Amazing ~ What a Culture ~
Having visited most of the greatest art museums of Europe, the Hermitage is grander, much more elegant, every angle holds elaborate detail so very Russian so very elegant. Maintenance is not the right word. Connoiseurship of Hermitage is a life dedication in itself. Lost in its beauty. Takes months to learn & appreciate all that is L'Hermitage.
L'Hermitage is most important museum in the World ~ 🏰 Spaçiba Sergei. 🙌🪆
But, feel sad thinking what happened to the Tsar & his family & what might have been done to help the people of Russia.😢🔮
Yesterday you mentioned the Yusupov Family of extreme wealth. I read a lot about them & indeed their wealth is / was unfathomable but like most everyone in Russia at the time of the fall of the Tsar, they had to flee & most of them suffered hard in other countries though they had been a very charitable family. One lady of the Yusupov family had a stunning black pearl necklace which she had to sell in New York to survive & finally it was sold to Cartier. The wealth of royals is staggering. In 1928, one royal family had 80 million just for building a home in Long Island. Makes Rockfeller look poor. Another family with royal heritage had 400 million in U.S. real estate alone in 1932. So The Stock Market Crash did not even touch them. My mind is blown away.
