I happen to have this "VERY RARE" Russian recording. It is coupled with Gretchaninov's equally appealing/tuneful 1st Sonata for Violin and Piano. To set the record straight about this Taktakishvili Sonata: It was written for flute and piano and dates from 1966. So, this transcription by the violinist here, Igor Politkovsky, must have been made soon after. Like the popular Prokofiev Flute/Violin Sonata, it seemingly adapts easily to its new instrument. Regardless of the arrangement, this most attractive (and accomplished) music deserves to be better known than it is.
