Thumbs up to this. The other reason for not unscrewing and removing the camera for charging inside is that when you return the charged camera to the mount, you have to fiddle around and reset the angle of the camera if the camera angle has altered when unscrewing and removing it. I just purchased several Eufy cameras. Wasserstein makes a 25 foot USB cable with a waterproof connector and includes an AC adapter for $18 CND each that I plan to run from my cameras to an outdoor AC outlet. It eliminates the need of both removing the camera, using a power bank, and having to drag out and use a ladder
Would you still recommend this cable? I've been looking for something like this but each option seems to have a risk of fire (POE, extension cord, mini USB).
thank you for this video it showed me how to open that rubber area under the camera to set it to charge ... that was the only thing holding me back from setup, lol ... i didn't want to force anything or rip off the rubber bottom if it was not designed to open (eufy camera 3.31 mins charging spot for anyone else looking for the same thing)
Great video as usual. I have the Arlo Pro and Wasserstein solar for it. Yup, not compatible with anything else but Pro 2 i think. Reminds me of another electronics manufacturer, also starting with A.... Keep up the great work!

So with the indoor camera, can you use that same power bank? I know for 24 7/4 it will drain the power back, but can you do a test to see how long? Because there are some circumstances where we just don’t have the length for the power cable to run.
Could you take a solar panel and hook it up to the battery pack so it charges the pack and the pack feeds power to the camera and then you won't need a camera w batteries making any camera solar powered and cordless. Would that work? Can a battery pack take power in and give it out at the same time?
They actually sell solar panels like that..specifically for Blink cameras because the Blink uses regular/disposable lithiums and not rechargeable...so compatible solar panels needs a built in rechargeable battery.
This is a very good life hack to use I can say that from personal experience you just can’t forget to check the weather forecast to make sure it won’t rain otherwise if it does then you power bank and camera will both have water damage. Also I using a rubber band can be easier if you have a thin power bank.
My Reolink Solar Panel stopped working recently and my region had no replacement stocks. So i tried to find some alternatives solar panels, such as off-brand/OEM types for other IP cameras. Didn't work, apparently Reolink and mostly other camera solar panels are made so that you can't use them (specific voltage/amp/software ID switch etc etc.) So i thought about doing this power bank hack with an all weather version for camping/hiking.... Then i stumbled upon SOLAR PANEL EQUIPPED POWER BANKS. It's bloody genius, Reolink camera thinks it''s charging from "main", while the power bank solar panel tops up its charge during sunny days. WIN-WIN.

Is it possible to leave the power bank always connected and the eufycam pro 2 camera charges as soon as it start to drain battery level? My use case is for an unmanned property.
Re-exploring this with the new Eufy S330. In Winter there does not seem to be enough sun to keep the camera comfortably charged. I had 2 thoughts: 1) add a supplemental solar panel and put it on the another side of the house that gets more sun (will this work?) Or 2) attach a USB c cable permanently (maybe caulk around the plugin) and run that cable behind gutters for yearlong easy access for charging via power bank. I'd also use some type of waterproof plug on the exposed plug until charging time. Thoughts? Can you test a solar panel with a eufy s330? Eufy claims it will work
Late to the party but in general #2 works. I have two cameras on different sides of my garage and they are permanently plugged into an Apple charging brick that is plugged into a cheap light timer that is plugged into an extension cord running to a standard 120v receptacle in the garage. The light timer is set to run for an hour per day and the app is set to the “battery” (not the solar) option. The camera gets a lot of activations (which are silenced) and it maintains 100% the entire time.
bought a 1.5 watt 12 volt solar charger 15$ and move it back/forth on my 2 ring cameras, trouble is finding the tiny female plug that has be wired to solar panel, it is about 1/16 inch or so. charges well, may need lower voltage??????????
I would use a solar panel that you can plug any USB cable into rather than one that has the USB cable permanently attached. You can maybe install it on the roof and run the cable down so it's less conspicuous. Battery cameras are just a lot of work to keep charged up and can only be used at your primary residence. You would need wired cameras for an airbnb. I believe your wireless cameras are the wyze and blink cameras you did a comparison of.
How about power banks with built in solar panels ? would those power banks work and can they be left plugged into the cameras all the time since the battery will get charged from the power bank and the power bank will get recharged with the solar?
Buy the talentcell though that one that I used for my Yi and the Wyze. The powerADD and a lot of other power banks cut the power out for a second when it is unplugged from the outlet...the Talent cell doesn't.
I charge my Eufy cam 2c about every 3 months. I live in a heavy residential area and I have too much foot/car traffic here. Especially catching people 12am-3am trying to break in people's cars.
Yes, it will drain faster even if you set it to human detection only, the camera will still activate when it senses other motion, but will shut off when it the movement is not human..

Good information! This is why I stay away from Arlo! I’ve been checking out euffy lately... I have ordered the Wyze cam outdoor. Do you think they will make a solar panel?
You can just buy the solar version like i did. Works pretty good but i will say far as reolink goes if you are in an area where the camera will be recording every couple minutes or constantly the solar panel struggles to keep up. Especially in the winter where the days are shorter. I have mine set to record when motion activated and only through the night hours mostly and it stays fully charged.

LifeHackster Have you reviewed the Hikvision POE cameras? I’m curious to know if the POE cameras have the same issue with “latency”? Thank you for the quick reply!!
I would LOVE to have a wireless option but living in NYC, the problem with all these rechargeable cameras is that they are made for people who lives in the suburbs where the only motion it has to detect is a squirrel running by once a day. These batteries die in the matter of days to a week if you set them up at a location where foot and vehicle traffic is heavy. Even with the Arlo solar panel, it cannot keep up with the battery drainage. So my only option is hard wire drilled through a brick wall.
Honestly, if I had to drag out my ladder to mount the battery pack and then again to disconnect same, I may as well simply remove the camera and bring it inside to charge anyway. It doesn't take long for a 2C to recharge so it's not like I am worried someone will break in while I am at home and active. I'm running seven 2C's around my property and could probably mount a couple more so I will admit that recharging the cameras can be a PITA, that's why all mine are mounted within reach for quick access.

In other words, make a non battery operated camera, battery operated. The HeimVision HM612 is a very good and inexpensive camera, but it is not battery operated. You may need a solar controller to prevent power leak at night? Excellent video by the way.... Barry
duugh, have have battery at nite.
@@patriciareynolds2729 What does "duugh, have have battery at night" have to do with this? What size battery pack do you need? & is a solar panel controller required? How long will it operate on a battery pack?
@@peibarry1335 ring spotlight cameras come with 2-3volt batterys and charger, i rigged a cheap harbor freight 1.5-12volt solar charger to mine and swap it to another ring when needed. is your heimvision 110 volts ac? ring is 3volts dc only. ring solar charger is $50. works good and is workfree with solar charger,

Has anyone snipped off the magnetic connector and and wired on a micro USB for the Arlo Pro 2? I picked up 2 of these panels for $20 each and would like to make these work!
I wish the Eufy 2c had a bigger battery, it lasts me about 2 weeks before the battery dies
Thanks
