One of my favorite details about the art In this story is that whenever you look at Jack or Bruce when they aren’t Joker and Batman, their shadows *are*.

Batman cradling Jim’s body in the hospital bed has to be one of the most tender moments I’ve seen illustrated in a while. Sean Gordon Murphey’s Batman may be just as big and buff as anyone else’s, but there’s a tenderness to how his body language is drawn in key scenes that make him feel much more human and less like a specter than other artists have done in the past.

That ending was by far the biggest plot twist I've ever seen in a DC comic.
Such a big twist it could've been General Zod's neck

I've read dark and death metal, hit feels more Justice League with Batman as cause lol. And Under the Red Hood and a Death in the Family are all fantastic. But I'm more of a Flash and Green Lantern Fan

Who else loves the fact that the Batman Devastation Fund is hidden in the Natural Disaster Relief Fund? It’s almost like a hidden jab at Gotham for being where Batman was born and lives.

Anybody want to explain how Joker managed to not get any prison time for his crimes.... Juries are supposed to determine guilt or innocence, not if someone has served a long enough sentence. The fact that he would ever be free, regardless of being cured, is ridiculous. Great story though.
You can’t be held for your actions bcuz of your insanity, that’s exactly what joker was going through until he became sane again, it was a completely different person maybe not psychically but mentally and spiritually, jokers main part of his identity is that he knows it’s a comic book and he is a villain that is why he is obsessed with Batman but after becoming sane he doesn’t even seem to remember much knowledge of joker shown by him not remembering killing robin or not and he doesn’t even think or say anything about this all just being a comic. Jack Napier is a complete different character compared to joker
Joker isn’t apart of jack, jack doesn’t even understand that, joker is apart of the story, he is apart of the comic, they show that in Arkham knight, he more then just survives through infecting others with his blood

I enjoy how Jack admitted he manipulated the courts because realistically, theres no other way he would've been acquitted for his crimes. Sure, he was clinically insane, but theres no way he could claim legal insanity. He's way too high functioning and knew exactly what he was doing the entire time.
Despite what I think of the story, I really enjoy these long full story narrations

god i’d kill for a white night trilogy i think it’s the perfect cure for the joker fatigue.
and assuming we can only get a single movie, imagine if the second batman movie is spent fleshing out how fucked the joker is while he helps battinson with a case. maybe the joker is a secondary antagonist in the same vein as two face in TDK. and at the end after he’s defeated (in some way that the movie decides) the joker gets cured at the end. then the final the batman movie is a white knight story

Great job. Comics are supposed to be funny, but that drama was probably the best cry fest I've had in a very long time. Absolutely AWESOME telling of a very complex psychological drama.
At 57, i was born in 1965... and Bruce X / Batman has always been a moral icon. Thank you for doing the extended Bat family justice with your telling of that 2-hour drama.
Tbh my opinion is this would make a perfect goodbye story for Bruce to retire for while. What if? The joker took bruces place as Batman's for him as the white knight and the batman who laughs fights him. That would be a cool short story.

@@manny123957 Good point. It isn't bats fault that the prison and justice systems keep putting these criminals back on the streets. Batman should also be mad at them for not reforming criminals he captures.
This is like a Batman: The Animated Series fanfic with 89 percent more cars, and I am all for it. The Joker in here is written to be voiced by Mark. The Harley in here is written to be voiced by Arleen. It's all wonderful.

I have no idea how intentional this naming is, but as a Portlander, the name of "Backport" makes me instantly think of Vanport.
Vanport was the second-largest city in Oregon, and Oregon's least white city (for those unaware, Oregon was founded as a whites-only Ethnostate. When non-white people were eventually allowed to live here and not just reside here temporarily to build our train tracks and such, the best job a Black man with a college degree could get in the first half of the 20th century was porter on a train). In many ways the manufacturing and shipping hub of the state, Vanport was essentially a massive shanty town where everything from the homes to the factories to the docks were all built as cheaply as possible, and the residents were paid as little as possible, to maximize profits. Like I said, Vanport was Portland's second-most populated city (and the largest housing project in the nation), until one day, it wasn't. Until one day, it didn't exist at all.
It took ten minutes after the levee failed for the Columbia River to turn the city into a soup bowl. By the end of the day, there was nothing left. Vanport was gone. This happened in 1948, which means there are plenty of survivors still alive today - this is recent history. No real efforts were made to rebuild - the war was over, after all, 20,000 poor and often non-white workers losing their homes was if anything a clean-up job to the Klan-connected runners of Portland at the time.
Normally I wouldn't drop all this on a Batman lore video of all things, but the plot point about a neglected suburb of Gotham with a population that is poorer and less white than the rest of the city facing a form of natural disaster and receiving no help from the city at large, and being named Back*port*, really stuck out to me as rhyming with local events.
It's hilarious after all the pain and killings the joker has done just when batman finally decides to (idk if tries to kill him in this scene 5:00) people Have a problem with it?

If you want to get into batman, try rogers and engleharts run, denny o neals batman, morrisons jla, morrisons batman and robin, year one, dark knight returns, black mirror, knightquest, no mans land, going sane (has similar premise to that of white knight and is an alt universe story. Heck if you can, read all the comics under the legends of the dk label, which was all self contained alt universe batman stories.), the original appearances of the joker as a stone cold killer, mad love (comic not cartoon), animated series of batman from the first until jlu including batman beyond, and the film mask of the phantasm.
I think these are great ways to be introduced to the essence of post-adam west batman, which is largely inspired by 90s morrison jla and 80s frank miller. Current batman, much influenced by scott snyder, is more like a brother than a father to dick grayson, and more of a normal person than was portrayed in my youth.
The criticism of batman in white knight, though a different reality, is very reflective of what modern young audiences criticize about him, and of other establishment characters like scott summers or charles xavier. Ie, the good guy is actually a bad guy who doesnt care about collateral damage, while the bad guy is actually a good guy even though he has historically murdered and maimed and batmobiled his way thru life.
