Great installation of a trolling motor. Can't wait to do this on my kayak. Great job!

I’ve always wondered if I could instal a motor on my yak since I would throw only a cast or two then have to pick up a paddle and it’s much less time with your line in the water great idea man

I have the blue tamarack angler 100 kayak, and am about to mount my 30lbs thrust minn Kota trolling motor . I am gonna do an A- frame mount. So that away it can be in the rear middle, along with keeping stability. The battery I will be using is a 13lbs 12V 18ah battery. I weight around 125. And with 3 rods a bag of gear me and my battery and the trolling motor I’m looking at around about 164lbs still yet , not including the unloaded ozark cooler in the front.

They actually make that motor holder set up, using C clamps for the front of a canoe, which can be used on the rear as well.

So do you only have one speed since you took the tiller handle off?

Well in this video the speed control knob still worked, so the farther I turned the knob clockwise the faster id go. The PWM is really neat because instead of sending constant power like the factory 5 speed switch, it sends pulses of power which helps save your battery a ton. Hence the name pulse width modulator. With the factory switch even if you're in speed one you're still using the same amount of power as speed 5, but the pwm uses the minimum amount of power you need to run your motor at slower speeds. I accidentally let my hot and ground wire from my motor touch one day, you can see in the video I didn't have anything covering the connectors I used. Ignorant mistake on my part. when I turned the knob it fried the coils on the inside of it, so now I only have one speed which is full blast. Bummer, but PWM's are pretty cheap so ordered another and it was broken straight out of the box. BIG bummer there 😂

Not the most stable kayak...no PFD...paracord tied around your waist...what could go wrong?

I got a pfd ticket a year or so ago and learned that lesson. As far as stability goes as long as you stay under the 275 pound weight limit and have atleast a little bit of experience in kayaks then you will be fine. I took it out on lakes in my area a few times and had to ride pontoon and wake boat wakes and never had a problem. It’s obviously not something you can take down any rivers or anything. I do agree the steering needed work though. There’s other videos on TH-cam that show much better steering systems on the same boat. I accidentally backed over the mount when I was backing my big boat up one day and it bent it up real bad or I would have eventually made improvements.

Get a long aluminum pipe and bend it at one end for a handle and connect other end to motor do you just have to pull handle down to pick up motor and connect a locking mechanism to keep handle down and fasten to boàt and when running motor unlock and drop motor into water and go
