crate tip...on the crate you cut the bottom off of; cut the top off as well, zip tie to bottom of your tackle crate, and put over the hatch cover. Now you have a level spot for your crate. I have this kayak and that drove me crazy. Thanks for the content!

I've really been looking into getting this kayak. Unfortunately at this time I've found them for $300-$380 new. But im the type of guy that loves to modify things and add cool features. So this video really helped give me a lot of cool things to do if I get one. Awesome video👍🏻👌🏼

Uummm about pissing, I fight multiple sclerosis and I have to pee about every 15-20 minutes. I learned long ago that I need to take a bottle to piss in. I find that laundry detergent bottles work well. Big holes to aim at, if you pull the inner spout out. They float, have reusable lids and generally have a handle to tie a leash to. I like the way you did your box! Good job!

Just a tip. I have the same kayak and with very minimal trimming I was able to use a Proform 1 gallon joint compound bucket inside the hatch to make a dry well for the boat. The factory lid even perfectly fits teh bucket and seals it to keep it dry. I had to increase the size of teh hole by 1/8th inch all the way around. The easiest way to do that was a wood rasp in a drill on high speed. Easy peasy dry well for this boat, and fits like factory.

You probably know this by now but some pontoon outriggers are easily built. They add stability and, depending on the style you build, not only add floatation but can double as a trolling motor mount.
Really like how you secured the milk crate to the yak. I'm about done fighting with the bungee to secure my crate. If you half a pool noodle and zip tie em to the bottom of the crate, it really reduces the rocking caused by the crate sitting on the hatch cover. I also put a strip of gorilla tape over the crate name. Just in case I'm on a lake and chance encounter the CEO of Deans Foods. LOL. Love the trash can idea, gonna steal that idea! I just secure my stadium seat to the hook point already provided behind the seat. Also enjoy my Tamarack but have to disagree with you about the tracking, I think the tracking sux but it is a $200 kayak. Great video man.

@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors We use that same technique when anchoring offshore in much larger offshore fishing boats in 100+ feet of water. We use the boat to break the anchor free and attach a huge float to the line. As you accelerate the float works its way back on the line and actually floats the anchor to the surface. Stop the boat and pull in the slack line :)

Use a wind chute to counter the wind. Pee!!! Yes it happens in your boat. I went to the drug store and bought a urinal like men use in the hospital. It works great. Good video. Good review of your mods. Honestly my $200 tamarack is as good as my $900 boat for basic fishing. My Pescador is better for bigger water and my electronics. I use both boats depending on where I'm fishing.
I have a future beach trophy 126 sit in kayak and I am able to do it ,it’s not easy but it’s easier than taking time out to pull the kayak over. There is a learning CURVE. 😜
I got one and took it out for the first time to the lake.with my old lady and she has a sit in got in some running water she was doing fine me not so much thought I was honestly gonna die lol water coming from the holes later plugged and stability was scary at best took my best to gain control back and paddle.like my life depended on it
@Urbexx Jeremy yeah I'm about the same in weight I've taken it several times since than and I think the lake was just to flooded and running to fast bc in calm water It rides fairly well i would never stand up in it though

I live in Iowa, I just picked up my Tamarack 100 fishing kayak today. Looking forward to getting out on the water with it this weekend. Can you drive on the interstate with these on the roof of your SUV like 70-75 mph? When I tied it to my Outback today to drive home, it was in town driving, but I was nervous for fear of not having the straps on right and it falling off. Glad you gave tips about an anchor, that thought has crossed my mind.
I have a roof mounted kayak holder for my SUV and I take it down the freeway. Just make sure it’s tied down properly and you should have any issues. Glad you enjoyed the video!
I'm not 100% sure, as I've never tried the Teton, but the tamarack has done well in small lakes. If you are in the SE Michigan area, I'll be listing my Tamarack for sale soon. With a growing family, I need something for all of us.
Hey man!! This is probably going to be my first Kayak for my fishing channel! Is this a god choice!! I have to questions, 1. Is it hard to attach a Gopro Mount if you have one? 2. Is there a place for a small fish finder?
Iv seen some people do a fish finder before. Iv personally never did one. As far as the GoPro, I just get a clamp mount and clamp it to the fishing rod holder. Works out well. Thanks for watching and the support. Good luck on your channel!

Hi is this a good beginner boat? I'm old and after retirement I took up fishing and love it but now I wanna get out on top of the water in my lake and river. I've never had a kayak but I can't afford a john boat yet. I'm worried if my abdomen/back will ache from it being unstable. Does my question make sense?
This boat is good for the price but depending on your budget, you could get a better boat already decked out with more comfort. The Ascend 12T is a good boat that has a nice seat with a backrest. You can get them at bass pro.

Great video! I have this same kayak and enjoy taking it out. I really liked your anchoring solution, very ingenious! One question though, how do you turn around to get into your tackle crate? Every time I've tried to turn and look back into my crate I rock the boat and worry of tipping over

Don’t cheap out here like originally did. I had to go back and re-caulk everything. And I believe the trolley come with both screws and rivets for the eyelets. I know I used screws for the cleat. I used the screw on the claw (rope lock) because you can get to it with your hand but I used the rivets in the front and back of the boat to mount the eyelets. make sure you get marine grade sealant and you should be good.

How much do you weigh friend?? I'm 6'2 around 256 lbs. And that 275 weight capacity seems pretty scary for a guy my size along with tackle and being on the water etc ..💧💧🤔

I have seen some bigger guys on these Tamaracks lately, with the weight limit at 275 have you had any issues? I am 6'2" and 255 so wondering if I needed to start cutting back on the beer and going for some runs before picking up one of these.

I don't know much about fishing boats, etc, but I hope that you wear a life vest. I would really worry about tipping with the slightest move. (leaning). Be safe man.
I bought this same boat last week and have had no issue with the paddle. I too dislike the open space hull that runs the length of the boat and am working on sealing off those areas with foam, as I do want a decent amount of cargo area available, but still want my belongings to be within reach when I go to grab for them. Curious as to why you didn’t run your trolley a little bit closer to the ends of your boat for a more stable current drift?
It’s a great boat man. The seat upgrade is a must for all day fishing. You can run the trolley all the way back to the end or the front of the boat depending on the way the current is flowing.

You could keep Gatorade bottle in your crate to go pee in. You can go, dump it, and then rinse it in the water.

Tip: If you use fishing line instead of a zip tie for the anchor break away it's much easier.

@@MichiganAmBushOutdoors We use that same technique when anchoring offshore in much larger offshore fishing boats in 100+ feet of water. We use the boat to break the anchor free and attach a huge float to the line. As you accelerate the float works its way back on the line and actually floats the anchor to the surface. Stop the boat and pull in the slack line :)

Use a wind chute to counter the wind. Pee!!! Yes it happens in your boat. I went to the drug store and bought a urinal like men use in the hospital. It works great. Good video. Good review of your mods. Honestly my $200 tamarack is as good as my $900 boat for basic fishing. My Pescador is better for bigger water and my electronics. I use both boats depending on where I'm fishing.

If you sit in this boat you’ll quickly realize that using p bottle would most likely not workout in your favor.
I have a future beach trophy 126 sit in kayak and I am able to do it ,it’s not easy but it’s easier than taking time out to pull the kayak over. There is a learning CURVE. 😜

I got one and took it out for the first time to the lake.with my old lady and she has a sit in got in some running water she was doing fine me not so much thought I was honestly gonna die lol water coming from the holes later plugged and stability was scary at best took my best to gain control back and paddle.like my life depended on it
Iv never had an issues with stability even with the added seat.
@Urbexx Jeremy yeah I'm about the same in weight I've taken it several times since than and I think the lake was just to flooded and running to fast bc in calm water It rides fairly well i would never stand up in it though

I live in Iowa, I just picked up my Tamarack 100 fishing kayak today. Looking forward to getting out on the water with it this weekend. Can you drive on the interstate with these on the roof of your SUV like 70-75 mph? When I tied it to my Outback today to drive home, it was in town driving, but I was nervous for fear of not having the straps on right and it falling off. Glad you gave tips about an anchor, that thought has crossed my mind.
I have a roof mounted kayak holder for my SUV and I take it down the freeway. Just make sure it’s tied down properly and you should have any issues.

I'm not 100% sure, as I've never tried the Teton, but the tamarack has done well in small lakes.

Hey man!! This is probably going to be my first Kayak for my fishing channel! Is this a god choice!! I have to questions,
1. Is it hard to attach a Gopro Mount if you have one?
2. Is there a place for a small fish finder?
Iv seen some people do a fish finder before. Iv personally never did one. As far as the GoPro, I just get a clamp mount and clamp it to the fishing rod holder. Works out well.

Hi is this a good beginner boat? I'm old and after retirement I took up fishing and love it but now I wanna get out on top of the water in my lake and river. I've never had a kayak but I can't afford a john boat yet. I'm worried if my abdomen/back will ache from it being unstable. Does my question make sense?
This boat is good for the price but depending on your budget, you could get a better boat already decked out with more comfort. The Ascend 12T is a good boat that has a nice seat with a backrest. You can get them at bass pro.

Great video! I have this same kayak and enjoy taking it out. I really liked your anchoring solution, very ingenious! One question though, how do you turn around to get into your tackle crate? Every time I've tried to turn and look back into my crate I rock the boat and worry of tipping over

Very carefully. I don’t turn all the way around. I just reach my hand back there but I definitely had to get use to the tipping feeling.
On the seat upgrade did you go with the 17" or the 20" extra wide. There is 2 options on amazon.

When you install the eyelet to the boat, does it come with a regular screw or rivet? Do you have to apply marine caulking to the holes prior installing the screws or rivet?

Yes, definitely use Marine caulking and get the good stuff. Don’t cheap out here like originally did. I had to go back and re-caulk everything.
And I believe the trolley come with both screws and rivets for the eyelets. I know I used screws for the cleat.

I used the screw on the claw (rope lock) because you can get to it with your hand but I used the rivets in the front and back of the boat to mount the eyelets.
make sure you get marine grade sealant and you should be good.

I just reach back there carefully without rocking the boat. It’s pretty easy.
Now in 2023 avgust same kayak 600$$. I'll wait winter probably the price go little down. I can wait better time good price.👍👍👍

I love the boat. For the price you can’t beat it and with a few mods it gets the job done. The seat is a must if you plan on going out all day.

I have seen some bigger guys on these Tamaracks lately, with the weight limit at 275 have you had any issues? I am 6'2" and 255 so wondering if I needed to start cutting back on the beer and going for some runs before picking up one of these.
I think you should be okay. You probably won’t get to carry as much gear. There are some other good boats with higher weight limits but have a slightly higher price tag.

Im 6'3" 81 years old 265 lbs and feel real safe in my Tamarak sometimes its hard for me to get out and get up ,but so far I can still make it
I don't know much about fishing boats, etc, but I hope that you wear a life vest. I would really worry about tipping with the slightest move. (leaning). Be safe man.

I bought this same boat last week and have had no issue with the paddle. I too dislike the open space hull that runs the length of the boat and am working on sealing off those areas with foam, as I do want a decent amount of cargo area available, but still want my belongings to be within reach when I go to grab for them. Curious as to why you didn’t run your trolley a little bit closer to the ends of your boat for a more stable current drift?
It’s a great boat man. The seat upgrade is a must for all day fishing.
You can run the trolley all the way back to the end or the front of the boat depending on the way the current is flowing.
