Finally, Kirk dosn't get the girl! Go Chekov!!!
Schneeble42 I mean, if I had to choose between Kirk and Chekov to date, I definitely go for Chekov
I mean how can you resist the accent?
Or how defensive he gets?
God darn he is perfect
Well TBH the girl is not real. 😉😉😉
Except it is the only thing around there that's real to Chekhov.
@@maisie5470 and kirk couldn't stand it. Had to jump in there.
I love the bit when they had just made up the tranquilliser and Spock complements McCoy on his abilities and McCoy just freezes as he doesn't know how to handle a compliment from Spock his face is a picture.
Scotty’s distressed look when Bourbon is all that is available. 😂
After all these decades, I still bust out laughing at "What can I do, Captain? You know we're always supposed to maintain good relations with the natives."
Kirks just upset he isn’t the one with the girl. Especially cause he thinks she might want good “relations” with Chekhov and he feels only HE should have good “relations” with alien women!
It's a good thing she's not a green alien or Kirk would be all over her like a cheap suit
@@markbeech3455Yes! I love off-beat stuff, including Westerns like this and High Plains Drifter. This one has a great Surrealist treatment.
Such a great episode… I love the surrealistic Old West partial set, and Spock’s brilliant pep talk to the landing party about it all being an illusion, including the bullets that were going to be flying later at the OK Corral. 1960’s Sci Fi TV at it’s finest!
Interesting thing. The Melkotians said the shootout at Tombstone would form "the pattern of your deaths" and they cast Kirk as Ike Clanton. Spock realized they weren't caught in replay of history because Billy Clayborn didn't die at the O.K. Corral. It turns out that Ike Clanton didn't either -- he ran away. Whoever wrote the episode didn't do their homework, but it was still entertaining.
One of the finest episodes. Great storytelling and performances. What a great adventure, what fun!
Chekhov at the end was the definition of the "It"s free real estate" meme.
The actress who played Sylvia is married to the man who was the MC at Woodstock. She has a beautiful singing voice. She appeared in the Twilight Zone episode with Gary Crosby
Kirk says everything through his facial expressions😂
My favorite episode of this series
" The Man who kills on sight ! " That's one Awesome Reputation !
I enjoyed this episode a lot. One of the few gems of season 3.
Scotty is such an alchoholic. Ordering Scotch in an alien setting.
A functioning drunk who is the chief engineer of the Enterprise. Just imagine that in today's world.
The girl is Bonnie Beecher. Born in Minneapolis in 1941. Sound geographically and chronologically familiar? Yep, early friend of Bob Dylan and later the wife of none other than Wavy Gravy.
A cross between Star Trek and Bonanza.
Dam. Now I wish that a UFO had shown up on the pondarosa.
Come to think of it one might had. But only hose would have seen it.
😂😂😂😂
Oh, I miss this show!!
I like the part where Kirk walks up the bartender.
“Bartender…Ed. You claim to know us”.
“I ain’t makin’ no claims ‘bout nobody…just so happens”.
Spock is the definition of cool.
Scotty- "Half a gallon of Scotch" !!!
Only Scott would order a half gallon of scotch! Yikes, and that was for himself.
The usual? “Aye, half a gallon of Scotch!”
Wow. This is probably one of the episodes I've never seen
Don't concern yourself with that, you just keep on making plans to take everybody out for pizza.
Good 'ol Virgil! We can always count on him!
So... the guy wearing a red-shirt (Scotty) isn't the first one killed in this episode... it's a gold-shirt (Chekov.) Wicked cool.
Red is not only security but also engineering. Blue is science, green is command. I forgot what gold is.
Yes,Chekhov has his day with the girl!Kirk tries to solve the problem, again!Or,I should say;Mr.Spock “save’s the day” this time!
"You shoulda warned me sooner, Mr Spock!"
That guy that plays Earp in this episode is the most bizarrely stone-faced & wooden actor in the series. He makes Shatner look like Lawrence Olivier 😂
Shatner stone-faced? You've got to be kidding - he's one of the most expressive actors on the planet. Look at his work in Turnabout Intruder - he nails the hysterical behaviour to a T.
wonder how many know McCoy (DeForest Kelly) was in the actual Movie Playing Morgan Earp in Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957) with Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas
Hmmm...
The two Kirks...
Kirk Douglas and James Kirk
Two Kelly Deforest...
As Morgan Earp and Dr McCoy
"Spectre Of The Gun" from "STAR TREK"s third and final season (1968-1969) on NBC, was an extremely superior episode, blending both The American West with the futuristic Starfleet society, and its valuable standards. written by Lee Cronin (alias for Gene L. Goon), this episode reflected the popularity of the TV Westerns back in their day, when they still ruled Primetime TV -mostly throughout the 1950s and early 1960s, but this episode was very exceptional, using science fiction, as The Melkotians punish Kirk and his landing party for disregarding one of their their space buoys, and creates a semi-realistic version of Tombstone, Oklahoma, as "the patterns for their deaths"-especially with Wyatt Earp and his men! The eerie look and feel of this episode really did a great job of re-creating The American West, and the scary events of The OK Corral. Ron Soble, who was the co-star of the ABC series, "THE MONROES" (1966-67) guest starred as "Wyatt Earp", and Abraham Sofaer was the voice of The Melkotian (Sofear also appeared in "Charlie X") all did such fine performances in this classic 1968 episode!
Pretty sure Lee Cronin is Dorothy Fontana. Broads weren't given serious attention, so they used pseudonyms. Correct me if I am wrong.
@@fryingpanhead8809No, Lee Cronin is definitely Gene Coon. Fontana didn’t use any pseudonym for the series.
Wonderful testimonial to a stellar episode. I’ve always admired the sound effects and the great original Jerry Fielding music score.
@@fryingpanhead8809
Dorothy Fontana just listed herself as DC Fontana.
It's funny how right after Spock tells Kirk to sit down without moving a muscle of either hand, Kirk opens both hands before he sits down. It would be funny if he was immediately shot before he got to the seat lol
This episode is way underrated. Surrealistic sets and matching cinematography, good acting, terrific action sequences. One of the best from TOS. Also notable for the sense of humor: Kirk flat out refuses to show up at the OK Corral for the climactic shootout, so the Melkotians teleport the entire landing party there instantaneously LOL
Player Chekove, reporting for duty Captain
Bonnie Beecher. Girlfriend to Bob Dylan, wife to Wavy Gravy. All that and Star Trek too. Nice resume.
Morgan Earp ... boy I really wanted to see Kirk take him on in hand to hand combat!!!! Kirk would have beaten the tar out of him!!! Kirk would have wiped that smug look right off Morgan's face!!!!!
Some hot gal just appears out of nowhere on some mysterious planet where things just materialize and a molten lava dude talks, and Chekov is like yeah...but she's hot!
Rex played maybe the best Morgan Earp !!!
dks13827 he definitely does. i think he doesnt blink his eyes once in this scene
Young lady: the captain is the one who lays the pipe on missions!
Walter Koenig (Chekov) read the script and probably threatened to resign over the additional romantic duties. (sarcasm)
@@B-and-O-Operator-FairmontIt would have been surreal if Sulu pushed the girl away and planted one on Wyatt Earp 🤣
Some people call me a space cowboy...
Scotty--a half gallon of scotch, good stuff
He wanted to be wide awake for the showdown, but is about to drink a half gallon of scotch. That's a resl Scotsman.
Chekov= davy jones in space
When he first started on the show, they made him wear a wig with a Davy Jones hairstyle. He hated it.
Doc Holliday never heard of the Prime Directive...
What happened with spock’s ear?
Especially at 1:52 It's magic!
why is scottys hair soo slicked back?
To be honest with you, I've seen him in an old Outer Limits tv show with exactly the very same hairstyle. He probably wanted to start combing his hair like that again. Then he forgot about it and started combing his hair to the right instead of the left. And that's the way his hair was combed in the second pilot episode, Whare No Man Has Gone Before.
Scotty had so many forehead hair styles through out the three seasons. Kirk, Spock, and McCoy were all the same. I kind of liked the way he wore his hair the first few episodes of season one.
So which is more realistic... this or the movie w Val Kilmer and Kurt Russel..?🤔
Perhaps you would prefer a reel actor such as Ronald Ray-Guns, were it possible.
This was Walter Koenig’s favorite episode.
Don't look to this episode for some kind of history lesson..this is not even close to what really happened in Tombstone. Just as one example, Morgan was not the psycho he was portrayed as here..none of the Earps were. But it is interesting the way they and everyone in town is like a ghost (except for the girl)..making the whole episode seem like a bad dream (which it pretty much was).
Oh, you mean saloons in the old West did not have open roofs? So much for my history report on Tombstone.
Was not meant to be a history lesson.
All the aliens knew about this era was what was in Kirk's memories of what he had presumably read about.
1:32 *dude from that Rifleman episode (with Lee Van Cleef)*
Nothing like re-written history to make a good story.
Spock has sush a beautiful body, but then he has beautiful everthing!!!
Absolutely true! And on top of all that there is that super sensuous, super masculine, mesmerizing voice! Perfection! Talk about being blessed - Leonard truly was!
@@mibelloaleman why is everyone in the comment sections of star trek videos horny?
Logic fail here. Why just convince them that only the bullets aren't real when the whole experience is an illusion? Also later why does Spock act like humans are crazy for having had a violent history? Vulcan was so violent they decided to suppress all of their emotions and still have fights to the death when they are in their mating ritual.
How could Spock even initiate a "Vulcan Mind Meld" in a scenario in which they weren't physically present?! After all, he wouldn't be able to actually touch those "pressure points" and "nerve endings" necessary to do so.
@@michelleishappy4036: Thank you for that enlightening explanation! Everything is clear to me now!
Even the slightest doubt could have killed them. They had to be transformed mentally into Spock's on and off way of thinking.
Well, at this point in Star Trek history Spock was still doing everything he could to deny his humanity, a battle which culminated in the V’ger incident when Spock finally realized his answers wouldn’t be found in pure logic. From that point on he Spock was at peace with his humanity and Leonard Nimoy played him that way from then on.
Is Kirk perhaps a tad envious of Mr. Chekov?
Who is Morgan erp?
Lol Scotty 03:54.
So spock knows more about the ok coral the kirk?
I always found that odd, too. Why would he be so versed in the history of the Old West?
How many Purple Hearts does Chekov rate?
I always liked this one a lot, but by this time creativity and inspiration for the writers on the series was running thin. "Okay, let's make the Enterprise crew--the Clantons at the O.K. Corral, gangsters in 1920s Chicago, underground Nazi fighters, early Christians opposing Rome--you name it". Another episode done. Paycheck, please.
"I'm not joking! I'm not Ike Clanton!"
l love spock
Chekov does look like Billy.
Both small and wears the yellow/gold shirt.
Poor Chekov, having to kiss a beautiful young lady on the job. Who would ever want a job like that.🤔
It comes with the job.
The captain wouldn't order or let things like that to his subordinates if he himself wasn't willing to do.
@@erichanastacio9695
ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!! James T. Kirk - A TRUE LEADER. LOL😁
Chekov finally getting to get some action scenes, he was probably thrilled until the illusionary shootout that killed him. Impromptu low budget but well acted.
chekov gets the girl
*in your face kirk!*
*IN YOUR FACE!!*
Who got full show.😍
I dont remember this episode.
Q must have had something to do with this.
3:28 *hotel attendant gent from Westworld with Yul Brynner*
I think Kirk's a bit put out in that it's Chekov getting all the female attention.
I saw it as half being put out and half bemused grudging pride of a kid brother doing good.
Same thing in The Apple.
TheCanseco1 Literally. Chekov is such a pimp
But who said that's a bad thing?
Season 3 episode 6 ?
He's very dead Mr Spock. 😄

It must have been hard writing scripts for so many episodes of a made-on-the-cheap weekly sci-fi TV show for the kids. Looks like they ran dry of ideas, and the studio head said it was costing him money for the janitors to maintain the studio back lot, so it ought to be used.
😍🤩
If that's supposed to be Wyat Earp, that's a distinctly slanderous depiction.
The silliest episodes were when they recreated American past life on different planets: wild west, 20s gangsters, Nazis, native Americans.
As the series went on, creativity ran low. "Okay, what'll we make them THIS time?"
Hes dead
weirdest episode ever.

Star Trek was mostly of Earth's history, magic, and gods... and rarely being sci-fi.
No wonder it got cancelled.
Bourbon is corn whiskey.
In the Old West, corn whiskey probably meant straight, unaged corn spirits.
@@GestapoPussyRanch My guess is they watered it down, but basically that.
@@GestapoPussyRanch No, shine is several times distilled. Whiskey is still 90 proof.

Is it just me or is there something wrong with Spock's ears in this ep??
"That would involve you in what was called, the fast draw. It initiated unfortunate events". Gotta love Spock.
