- Samana Bay entrance is on the Northeast corner of the Dominican Republic and is a huge . bay roughly 23 miles long by 7 miles wide. We opted for another few days at a fancy marina to take use of some decent wifi and to just make things a bit simpler. The marina is pretty fancy and a bit expensive but compared to how much this marina would cost in some populated parts of the states it actually wasn't too bad. We also have a bit of an embarrassing time docking in this fancy marina in the Dominican Republic.

Ahoy Mates! Samana Bay is famous in Pirate history. The pirate Captain Joseph Bannister defeated two British 30-gun frigates there in a sea battle He was the only Caribbean pirate to pull off such a feat. We 21st century Florida pirates have been raising money too in order to help the Bahamian people effected by Hurricane Dorian. I'm glad your doing the same! Shifar!

Tula's Endless Summer I have 3 teen girls who LOVE Billy! We spent 2 months this summer sailing the Bahamas & my girls were on the look out for Tula hoping to meet Billy! They spent half of the summer staring through binoculars at every cat we past & walked every marina we stopped at looking for Tula! Something good did come from it - they can now correctly identify a Lagoon, Leopard, Outremer, Sunreef, Cantana, Fountaine Pajot, & Crowther from a half a mile away🤣🤣

Hey y’all if you come across fruit like that and you have room in your freezer definitely pick it up. You can put it on a pot to cook on the stove tip. Dice it up put a little bit a honey or sugar in there. Some water if you need to. Cook it up and reduce it till thick. Then put it in the little containers in your freezer. That’s freezer jam. You could’ve use that mango jam on toast in a dessert on a pie on top of fish😀

Hey Guys, love your videos! Wish I was with you!! I am heading out to cruise Florida from Virginia in about a month. I have a question. I noticed in one of your videos yo seemed to have spliced Dyneema to double braid for your Roller Furling. Did you? If you did, where did you get the instructions for the splice? I need to replace my furling line and would really like to go to dyneema! Thanks!!
That’s awesome man! Great question! No our curling line is just regular double braid. Our sheets are dyneema core double braid with the cover stripped off the end. To do this we just bury the cover back into the core 72x the diameter of the core and stitch the transition. Hope that helps!
@@Tulasendlesssummer Thanks for the reply! Ok, guess I saw a sheet instead of the furler line! I saw a video on you tube today on how to splice double braid to Dyneema. I may give it a try. On my Hood furler they want you to remove about 18 feet of the core and only use the outer braid to save space on the drum. Mine has worn really bad. Dyneema would be the answer, 1/4" on the drum and 3/8" to the cockpit. Of course I need to get the corroded drum apart to replace the line first! Hunter 35.5 has the drum below deck in the anchor well, talk about hard to work on! Thanks Again!!

Poor Jetty,😢 I was watching this video thinking that Jetty needs to go to the bathroom since she was running around the boat & looking at the island when passing like she need to get on the island quickly. There are dog bathroom disposable mats for dogs to use the bathroom (I think people who live in say a condo and their dog needs to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night might use this). Maybe Jetty can get sponsored by the manufacture?? I think it would be good for her. I’m sure she really loves her adventurous life except for the bathroom issue. 😱🐕⛵️ Thanks for sharing real life on a boat!!
Hey Jan! Thanks for the advice but we’ve tried everything to get her to go to the bathroom (Fake grass, real grass, wee wee pads, etc)... she’s just not comfortable going anywhere other than land. If she really has to go she will go on the trampoline... she just holds off as long as she can. We rarely put her in situations like this unless it’s absolutely necessary.
@@Tulasendlesssummer My childhood dog hated rain, baths, ocean, lakes, boats (she would get sea sick if she went out on the boat)... we had a rain storm for 3 days, she refused to go out to use the bathroom. My dad walked her with an umbrella wrapped in plastic and also left the garage door open all day hoping she would use the bathroom. She never did, she held it for three days😱...not so good for her kidneys...but, she was not going to deal with the rain no matter what. LOL. She was a great pup. So is Jetty!! You guys are great parents to Jetty. She is living a dream life traveling, meeting new dogs, visiting new places & not having to stay in a house all day while you work. 🐕🐾🐬

Nothing worse than pulling into a marina for gas or a slip and embarrassing yourself. Whether it be a dog pooping or ramming the dock. Seems that there are always people watching at the worst time. You can laugh about it later but it ain’t so much fun at the time.

Morinda citrifolia is a fruit-bearing tree in the coffee family, Rubiaceae. Its native range extends across Southeast Asia and Australasia, and the species is now cultivated throughout the tropics and widely naturalized. Among some 100 names for the fruit across different regions are the more common English names of great morinda, Indian mulberry, noni, beach mulberry, and cheese fruit.
Rotten cheese fruit, S#!t fruit tree, also marketed as Noni, awful, very smelly when ripe, one of the worst tasting fruit.......as kids we used to throw them at each other as a joke. Traditionally used by many cultures for its medicinal qualities (probably most effective against Man Flu - "Ok, you're sick, now if its really bad we can treat you with this.......or you can quit complaining and get over it already" however it has become a significant health food product.....whoever decided this was edible must have truely been despirate, eat it as a dare, not for regular diet.

The one you picked up was not ripe, they are ripe when all off white, a little mushier/softer and a lot smellier, in Northern Australia tradutionally known for its effectivness for sore throat (probablly due to vitamin C content, remember no oranges - I would much rather eat Billy Goat Plum 'Terminalia ferdinandiana'), general cure all (some studies have shown the fruit contains several interesting constituents which have promising effects against, many conditions, anti viral, anti tumour, analgesic, diuretic.....list goes on)

Pain medicine is made from the Noni fruit. It has analgesic and anti inflammatory similar in strength as Tramadol. Love the holistic properties of it but yuck I would want to eat it. 😂

It looks like a beautiful country. It seems like as long as you stick to visiting the touristy spots it is pretty safe. But, I think for the average DR citizen it is a different story. A very dangerous place to live.

Why can I not make the video full screen? What is "Open video page"? What is Samana (w/ the blue marker)? Okay, all subsequent videos did the dame thing, soI closed TH-cam, opened it again, and the weirdness is gone.
