Impressive. One slip, trip, or stubbed toe at 40+km/h is gonna be very bad though. Maybe in future designs, you could dynamically adjust the stride length to help achieve greater speeds. This way, the feet spend more time in the air, making it less likely to trip on smaller obstacles. Longer strides at high speed means fewer leg movements and could also possibly reduce power consumption.
Converting this into an exoskeletton could replace cars on pretty much anything that isnt a long distance trip. The boys out there replacing the car. THE CAR!
Clever as this is, the anchor stops it moving from rotating, which makes the problem a lot easier to solve. I understand that it needs to be tethered for power but it shouldn't use the tether to stabilise it.
watch the slow motion part. there is still relative motion between the foot and the treadmill belt as the foot touches down ie. it slides. this thing isnt even close to running on its own
Very impressive especially considering that this was achieved 10 years ago. However, the spinning tail design for stabilization has disadvantages such as wearing out and being potentially hazardous as it spins. Also, a "real" animal tail doesn't really spin like this in a plane and repeated manner.
When it's complete and run and turns on it's own, make it have a shell of a raptor and remote control able with a 100-200 meter radius with a camera in it and a screen on the controller to really have fun with it! :D
I'm so glad to see that technology has come such a long way, It makes me feel better knowing that when machines start becoming self aware and want to take over the world that they will be able to chase me down now. :)
Nice work on the feet, great regenerative energy flow. Cheetah had a relatively hard foot which never looked efficient. A bit more slow-mo video would be very interesting. 4-legs next ? Great work.
I love all the snotty comments from people who have done nothing with their lives, so they have to critique (read: overanalyze) things like this, as if they have any basis of expertise with which to form a valid opinion.
Aoun SG All robots started that way, attached to something. Spot and Atlas from BD aren't the exception. Even humans start attached to their moms at the very beginning 😉👍. Great job! I wonder how did they go.
It is not faster than Usain until it gets off the tredmill and actually experiences the extreme wind resistance seen at that speed... I would like to see Usain's speed on a tredmill.
have you tried to make the spring near the second joint at the feet bigger or stronger i know there's a weight problem but i think if you try light and strong metals for the spring to sit in maybe a rubber style thing that can be strong but also be springy im not a schooled robot person but i do have ideas that may work i just hope i can get to that point where i can make a great and helpful robot
robot velociraptors. Truly the future of warfare and combat
Imagine this off the treadmill. In a pack.
.. and running into us.
ariandyy with shaped charged bombs attached....(it was hiding in the bushes in afghanistan ,since 3 weeks ,waiting for tanks to come)
ah c'mon surely people will just be trusted to use them for pizza delivery
That and bombs.SOme fancy pants terrorist will even make them chant "alla hu akbar"before detonating.
Just makes you realize how fast Usain Bolt is really running
If he had toddler legs XD
Oh great, a robot raptor with a spinning blade of death.
This gives me tears, it's amazing to see how far the human has reached in robotic dynamic tech
Tears when you realize these things are gonna be hunting you down in 20 years...
@@dadsquatch79facts they gonna use them to target ppl

Such an intelllectual response. Unfortunately, furry pfp 😢
3-WORDS:
ROBOT.
SMASHING.
STRENGTH.
Jajaja
Didn't know that's how tails work, good to know.
Converting this into an exoskeletton could replace cars on pretty much anything that isnt a long distance trip.
The boys out there replacing the car. THE CAR!
It is now officially fast enough to catch you in your nightmares.
An another attemp to create the real terminator!Good job :)
Imagine this robot trying to chase you... when its equipped with razor-sharp claws...
+Spider Man i got enough shit to worry about...no thanks
@@Maxim.Teleguz its been 6 years do you still got shit to worry about?
There are no words to describe how cool that is.
Universal Studios needs to license this technology to get some raptors walking/running around the park
Good. My Amazon Prime deliveries have no excuse to be late anymore.
Nobody talks how the thing’s running. A potential area 51 rider
Clever as this is, the anchor stops it moving from rotating, which makes the problem a lot easier to solve. I understand that it needs to be tethered for power but it shouldn't use the tether to stabilise it.
The size of that tail rotor might become entangled somehow in real world environment. But still I would love to see more progress. This is cool
Hope you guys put a raptor like body on it and let it run in a open plain and hopefully it stays balenced
its reeeeeeeeally awsome .. im speechless
watch the slow motion part. there is still relative motion between the foot and the treadmill belt as the foot touches down ie. it slides. this thing isnt even close to running on its own
magnificient! wanna see this one next to me on the highway :) Better yet Autobahn!
Robots are scary enough, and they had to make it as a velociraptor did they :p
"Gotta go fast!"
Does it work more like a gyroscope instead of tail?
Now imagine the fun someone could have with this locomotion system on say a mech.
you guys are geniuses

Roadrunner next, meep meep!
Wow, impressing. I want a human skeleton so I could be able to run as fast as this guy without effort.

Qu'est-ce que tu racontes?
Now we need a top half, a tail and a skin to make it look like a Raptor.
Awesome! I hope a self-contained version is in development and we'll see videos of that on the open-road, soon.
When it's complete and run and turns on it's own, make it have a shell of a raptor and remote control able with a 100-200 meter radius with a camera in it and a screen on the controller to really have fun with it! :D
Holy shit. If the next Jurassic Park has these...
I wonder how much it heated when it reached max speed.
Great, so not only are the Terminators coming, but they're going to be fucking dinosaurs.
damn that's like watching the flash running on his machine lol
Free Running Taken To The Next Level :D
the velociraptor simply rapidly taps the floor while the thing behind him keeps him in place
I'm so glad to see that technology has come such a long way, It makes me feel better knowing that when machines start becoming self aware and want to take over the world that they will be able to chase me down now. :)
Awesome work. You are genius!
wow! congratulations so impressive ! (make me think general Grievous in star wars !!!)
Awesome~ look at that speeeeed~
DANG THAT'S FAST
Wait for it!!! Yup! Google just hire these guys.
"wait for it" phrase = so overused
*hired
*bought
Eric Morrison same thing
lmao
Hooray for dinosaurs! :D
Increasing it's stride will increase it's speed
"Screw your obstacles, I'm going to the moon."
My friend and I are already drawing out how to build it >:DDD
Great I hope you succeed
Beautiful noises 0:47
I feel like the rod it's attached to plays a significant role. Can it still run without it?
It looks just like one of those Ivo Caprino figures running about :D (Norwegian Children-movies about norwegian folklore.)
Conggratulation!
imagine putting this on someone
Roboartist could always try a midget
Okay, y'know what? The thought of Terminators is scary enough. Let's not get into time-traveling robot dinosaurs dressed as famous body builders.
Beautiful
But, why is the tail... thing on the side of it?
looks like the flash running
This makes me realize how slow usain bolt is compared to the raptor lmao
Watch ing this at 2 times speed makes it more awesome.😁
What if I copy that running form should I become speedster
i would love to see if you made any changes in the robot and outside the robot if it could go to 60 mph that would be amazing
Nice work on the feet, great regenerative energy flow. Cheetah had a relatively hard foot which never looked efficient. A bit more slow-mo video would be very interesting. 4-legs next ? Great work.
This thing just won QWOP.

anyone remember the mousers from TMNT?
yea, there they are. all they need now are som jaws and a headlight.
Looks awesome in slo-mo =)
Looks like something out of a Metal Gear Solid game.
Impressive.
But seeing it squeel and struggle t 45km/h this much makes a cheetah even more impressive.
Gotta go fast!
Why not have a faster response for the "tail stabilizer" by using a gyroscope, that way I'm sure u could get past obstacles at full speed.
Is this company still around? I wanna know what they are up to 9 years later 🤔
is it giong to be used for military purpose? i guess yes
pretty awesome advancements.. but i would love to see it not be attached to anything
Is there an edit of this video with Yackety Sax playing in the background?
Neat, but curious how important the axel/rod is to stabilization. (not that one can't work on one problem at a time, just curious)
Looks like the Roadrunner, MEEP MEEP!
ill like to ask if it works if the supporting arm have been removed therefrom?
This things was built to deliver my pizza.
Clever robot!
It's attached to a stick, doesn't count..
I was wondering how much stabilization was being done by that arm as well, is it even capable of running on it's own?
Same exact thoughts brother
I think the entire point of the arm is so it runs straight.
Or perhaps a battery? I doubt that it's their for stabilization.
Aoun SG All robots started that way, attached to something. Spot and Atlas from BD aren't the exception. Even humans start attached to their moms at the very beginning 😉👍. Great job! I wonder how did they go.
Cut off my legs and give me this.
Increasing its stride will increase its speed.
HH Huh
that's sick!
It's amazing~ When is expected to test in real field? Looking forward it~ Good Job
The Pistorius Bot?
Her: wanna come over?

GODLIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what use case it would be used as?
Welp, when the robots rebel, we won't be able to run away
but will it blend ?
Pretty cool
do you think he did it?
