Im glad you liked this one. I also agree that the X-Men films have more heart and substance than the MCU but I still like both.
This movie was absolutely horrible. The acting by Jean was horrible, and everyone’s motives and dialogue makes legit no sense

Jean was never born as the Phoenix,this movie does show it better than X-Men 3 but no the Phoenix force simply bonded with Jean because she is so powerful and it actually revived her as well. Dark Phoenix is just a part of the Pheonix Force and it took over mostly when Jean was upset or angry and yes in the comics she almost killed the X-Men until Scott was able to bring her back to herself becaus of his love for her unlike what happens here. In the end Jean didn't die she simply evolved and will be reborn again. The power makes Jean immortal and thus she can not be killed easily for the most part any way.
Also Jean never killed Mystique that was done for the movie because the actress said she wants to stop playing the part so she can go do other things...that part in the movie annoyed me also just so you know the force within her can destroy planets but can also create new ones as well.
Jean is one of my favorite of the characters in that verse and I am glad this movie stayed true to how she is and how she got the Phoenix Force into herself as well.
actually, it was retconned that jean grey was born with it. well, a fraction of it. for the longest time, even before jean went into space, the phoenix has been trying to communicate with her, trying to show her what she's destined to become.
I just realized something, in the X-Men: Days of the Future Past, when Logan was sent back in time, he essentially went to change the future of the last X-Men doomed to demise in his timeline, and presumably resetting the timeline of the past; so whatever happens in the past, THAT past is taken a different course, which becomes their future. Therefore, here, in the Dark Phoenix, this is what you would call an alternate reality, or a separate universe, where Logan's future does NOT exist here, in this past timeline.
Technically, in simplest terms, these two are from different dimentions.
Mystic changed the futur you know (Old Magneto, Logan went back to alaska to save old Charles-Xavier, Logan killed jean , the giant robots against the xmen). She changed that in not pulling the trigger to the dwarf.
Ah, yes, that part... that is true. The first three original X-Men essentially got erased because of it, which brings me to the movie "Logan". It acts as in the same universe as the original X-Men, but after the events, they served a time of peace for about 10-15 years.
It was until the year 2029, when we hear about Xavier having the seizures, where he basically went berserk and wiped out everyone in his school. We never hear about it, but if you listen carefully in his voice and the way he speaks when he was confessing before he was killed, it sounded like that he did. When they were also eating at the dinner table with the stranger's family, Xavier told them that Logan killed Jean, but didn't specify when or where, but this could also indicate that she was part of the school when this occurred. Since she was the most powerful being of all, she could have unleashed her power beyond her control, which in turn could have caused the massive extiction hightened by Xavier's seizures. But, it was with Logan's ability to heal rapidly and cope with the negative effect that, once he reached her, he had to kill her again, but this time, he was too late and everyone was dead.
That's my interpretation of the whole X-Men story after the Days of the Future Past. It may be a little too much to take in, but it also kinda makes sense, if you think about it hard enough, both creativly and logically.
@@almar5075 It is simple, every movie shot before Days of future past is in one universe, and every movie after is in another new one universe (First Class is common to both). Logan and Dark Phoenix are in the same, but for example of great continuity, Logan still got a Katana in the new universe, cause events of Nagasaki happened before they were changing past, so his Japanese journey with adamantium samurai was in here too, but probably a little bit different.

I like to think that Jean going insane was avoided by Charles blocking Jean's memories and NOT her Phoenix powers. Sure that also wasn't the best plan but at least it didn't anger the Phoenix as much as trying to shackle IT.

I liked how Simon Kingerg's direction felt solid
He was able to give the movie its own identity, rather than trying to replicate Bryan Singer's direction
Unlike Brett Ratner tried to do in THE LAST STAND
He did a much better job, I think they could have continued with this cast into MCU, shame they wont as the characters already established.

Just for your infomation jean in the comics is way stronger than magneto or the Professor in the comics she is a level 5 mutant and i think magneto and the professor are 'only' level 4

fox actually rejected his original idea for dark phoenix, cut his budget, and left him with basically nothing. imagine trying to recreate a storyline that took years to complete and compress it into a 1-2 hour movie..

The visuals, score and direction were good for this, the story and acting seemed to lack energy but I find this to be less silly than Apocalypse. I like Dark P more than the previous.

I am so glad, Dark Phoenix got the worst reviews while I love the movie, and this is your best X-Men reaction! I know you will love Erik but not that much :D. After Logan I was scared about your reaction to dead Raven and even before that I didn't dare to hope that you will enjoy "hated" Dark Phoenix at least as much as Logan, but you girls were so interested in their story, of Hank, Charles and Erik, you suprised me so nicely, commenting it like better one than everyone's top Logan. For obvious resons they cant do this in a movie but Jean Grey is technicly immortal aslong as the Phoenix force is with her. Jean have died multiple times over the years in series and comics and everytime the Phoenix have resurrected her. It may not sound that impressive as at this point pretty mutch every caracter have died atleast once and lived again in the comics. But unlike most Jean´s resurrections actually have a legit reson to how it would be possable.

Raven can die in this timeline. Remember, in the movie "X-Men Days of Future Past" the timeline was changed by the future. Thus, the characters do not have to meet the same fate.

While I have not read the comics, I am told that the Dark Phoenix story is one that has yet to be successfully adapted on screen or tv, yet with Jean, it's the story filmmakers just straight towards.
Sophie Turner hands down the best actress to play Jean Grey.

The Phoenix Force is a step below God if you want to compare powers. Its one of the most powerful forces in the Marvel Universe. I like this movie, it did far more justice to the Dark Phoenix Saga than Last Stand. But it would take more than one movie to do the Dark Phoenix Saga any justice

So the end scene with Xavier and Eric playing chess was meant to be where the first X-Men movie picks up, but the huge age difference doesn't really make the point. Also, the island where Erik lived was called Genosha
I know the school scene at the end of Days of Future Past was solely to undo The Last Stand and absolutely nothing else, but boy has it messed with people's understanding of the timeline.
That scene tied up the old timeline - it was NOT a future of the new timeline. This is why Jean & Raven can die, and Logan in Apocalypse has no idea who anyone is.
Mystique is in relationship w Destiny making them of one the oldest queer couple in the comics. Mystique got Destiny pregnant so they literally made a child together although mystique had lot of famous relationship with Wolverine, Beast, Azazel, Iceman, Forge etc. I hope we’ll get to see this version of mystique w Destiny in X-men97 ! If you guys haven’t checked the episode already idk 😋🧚🏽♀️✨🫶🏼 i love the fact that most of her apparence she was mentioning “her wife” as she calls her or b w her. Both are ridiculously OP but they 2 movies never really showed how powerful Dark Phoenix can get. She is literally unstoppable can't be killed and can destroy you in a second and only really Franklin Richards has any chance against her in the original comics.

Mystique was in other X-Men movies but there are a few timelines.
If I'm not mistaken the original timeline goes like this: X-Men First Class, X-Men, X-Men 2, X-Men 3: The Last Stand, The Wolverine and X-Men Days Of Future Past and Logan.
BUT at the beginning of DOFP Logan goes back in time and from that we get the "new timeline": X-Men First Class, X-Men Apocalypse and X-Men Dark Phoenix.
We also have X-Men Origins Wolverine (but not canon anymore), Deadpool (in his own universe) and New Mutants (I'm not sure were they are on the timeline).
So in this movie Mystique really died even if she was in the first X-Men movies.
Deadpool is part of the newer First Class, DoFP, Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix, New Mutants, Logan timeline. Pay attention when the X-men cameo in Deadpool 2; notice which 2 characters are specifically missing? Mystique (dead) and Jean (off exploring the galaxy and discovering herself). Both Deadpool movies take place after the events of Dark Phoenix and prior to the events of Logan.

Hey girls, im glad u liked this, a lot of people were not a fan of Apocalypse or Dark Phoenix and i got some slagging over liking them but i saw them in the cinema with friends and really liked them both...its unfortunate u didnt like Logan, i think you dont get it, with Logan they were trying to make something different, an actual serious drama or the closest they can get with an X-Men movie, it was not supposed to be fun, you both have watched other dramas but i think because you watched all these films together it doesn't really fit with the others. I think if you watched Logan a year from now on its own you might have appreciated it more, also Logan Noir is so cool, its just a black and white version if the film...i love all these movies well except X-Men 3 The Last Stand but Logan is just something very special, its on another level, its more like DC's The Joker movie and thats why like The Joker did it was one of the few movies to get nominated for and even win awards...Still i enjoyed watching these film again with u both, its helps you are both very beautiful and really excited and emotional when watching them.. Ellie though stop saying bitch though, im Irish we liking cursing too bit you are going to get urself banned from youtube🤗 take it easy girls, X-Men will be coming to the MCU in the next few years so that will be cool, hopefully some of tye actors here will be brought back... Trust me, is better having broken continuity than trying to patch up everything with retcons
But they do both.
No continuity was ever broken. The X-men franchise is comprised of 2 very distinct timelines. Most people simply fail to see so because instead of thinking for themselves and bringing together the pieces of the puzzle they lazily want everything spelled out and presented to them in a linear hand holding fashion MCU-style.
Hank is angry because he was about to stop Jean w like a tranquilizer smth like that and that Charles needed to stop Jean with his mind to avoid all conflicts. I guess that justify his pov since Mystique died Cos of that
1995's Major Payne for the next movie choice.

I liked this movie alot as well. It is way better than X3. I understand that they had to reshoot the ending because it was basically the same as Endgame. Don't forget to watch the movie New Mutants, it's technically an X-men movie (but very different).

If this movie feels a little too rushed, that s because it was planned as a 2 parts story. Jeans arc in the first movie was supposed to make us love the character, then the second one would make us hate her. It was all part of a new trilogy that didnt happen after Disney purchased the Xmen.

Same for Magneto, he is stronger than the Magneto of the other timeline because he met Apocalypse. I don't know about Storm, she seems has the same powers. With the facts of the Days of future past a lot of things changed
