You need to understand, neither this one nor X3 did the Phoenix story any justice. Anyone who read the original comic books by Chris Claremont & John Byrne is gonna hate.

Keep in mind most of us judge this movie based on the Dark Phoenix saga from the comics... This is definitely better than last stand but it's still not as good as the comic.

Nothing they watched so far pre deadpool had any accuracy to the quintessential characters. I dont expect them to have the perspective of someone who has deep knowledge of these characters.

My dislike for any X-men movie is soley based on being butthurt that it was not as good as the cartoon. I never read the comics. If you like the X-Men give the 90s animated series a watch. The X-Men 97 show that just came out is fire.
Im in a similar boat never read the comics personally but loved the X-Men cartoon and know enough about the comics to Know while the X-Men the last stand and dark phoenix are not bad movies but to anyone who knows the Phoenix story from the comics or even the cartoon which did a decent job can say without a doubt that both the movies were hollow attempts at giving us the story fans wanted...
I think what hurts even more is that I feel like so many other shows, or at least a fair number of them, have shown special effects that would SO EASILY have been repurposed to show an actually GOOD set of Phoenix VFX. How can fox NOT get it right 2 different times?

Dark Phoenix wasn't perfect at all but numbers don't lie. I actually enjoyed this movie very much especially on the big screen. It's not the best film out of the series but it's pretty good imo
In the Comic Books, Jean is an enormously powerful Telekinetic /Telepath. As a Telepath, she has more raw power than Charles Xavier, but less skill. As a Telekinetic, she can create shields that can withstand Iron Man's blasts. She can attack or defend telekinetically /Telepathically at the same time. This is without being bonded to the Phoenix Force -what was called a solar flare. The Dark Phoenix Saga is one of the greatest storylines in X men history, and it has been botched. They have not done justice to it. In the Comics, the power drives Jean crazy (actually the Hellfire Club drives her over the edge) Jean defeats the X Men -easily. She flies in to space and creates a Stargate, teleporting herself millions of light years away. Hungry, she feeds on a Star which goes Nova, a planet orbiting the Star is destroyed along with 4 billion aliens living on it. It means nothing to her. The X MEN animated series tried to do the Story, but still failed.
The story is just too convoluted. I think it failed in the comic book medium too. Comic book fans just have no standards, until someone adapts then they have standards.

Plus, the most powerful mutant is Franklin Richards. He's the one who could do all of that with his eyes closed. When the universe ends, it's only going to be him and Galactus left, and he's the one who actually brings in the new universe. So please leave some sources of what comic book you're reading. I can leave you sources for some fantastic four even X-Men. To prove that I'm right, but I don't know where in any comic book you can prove that you are. 🤣

I loved Dark Phoenix and saw it multiple times at the theatre. I was not one those sour pusses who just jumped on the complaining bandwagon. XMEN is my favorite series; I love the characters and unique story lines. I enjoyed all the XMEN movies because I was entertained in different ways by all of them. I cannot imagine what it took to make such epic movies. The cartoons or comics are not important to me; I just like the premise. It is laughable to read some of the negative comments from the purists who over analyze the movie. It like they have lost the ability to enjoy any movie which is quite sad. I give you guys so much credit for watching the movies for yourself and give your own honest opinion without pandering to the comments or subcribers. This is what makes your channel great. I expect this channel to have continued growth. Thank you guys!

I love how you were like the comic books are important at all to me. They may not be important to you but how in the world would they have made the movie if the comic books didn't exist. The source material comes from the comic books. That is the actual storyline you like. So everything you just said does not make any sense. The people that were upset just wanted them to execute it. People have read these comic books for decades and would love to see a movie adaptation. So when it's not done very well, it makes some people upset because it's one of their favorite comic books and they were looking forward to it. 6:15 did anyone else not noticed how Jean had no space suit and was breathing perfectly fine in space? The body wouldn’t be able to do that not unless her mutant powers allows her to breathe 10:20 the light particles in the sky is Dazzler voice turning sound into light she’s very powerful but I believe she is now currently a level 5 omega mutant but it’s sad because she wasn’t apart of the X-Men team until later on but they don’t show it on any of the X-Men movies which is sad. She has the power of turning sound to light, flight, light beams and other more

Yea I rewatched a little just for fun, if nothing else the opening two episodes give you the vibe... Yeah Rogue with her correct power abilities in the cartoons. The series had good voice acting and followed along with some of the comics story lines to the best of their abilities
This was the last X-Men movie made by 20th Century Fox, now that Disney bought the company and the X-Men are finally with Marvel, they're gonna eventually reboot them into the MCU

Alpha and Omega, life and death, destruction and creation, the beginning and the end. I've never understood the whole yin yang because the Phoenix Force doesn't represent just order.

There are usually things to love or appreciate in even the weakest properties. I've spent my whole life lovin' and appreciatin'. I recommend everyone give it a shot and focus on the good. I love this movie and I will fight for it as much as I can. It was definitely comprised by the studio and the Disney buy out but overall I feel the passion on what the filmmaker was wanting to do. Create a more serious X-men epic.

I like this movie. If I had one piece of advice to give to anyone when watching new films. It would be to never listen to what anyone else has to say. Good or bad. Judge for yourselves. You can take recommendations sure but don’t assume you will like it too. I liked this. Other people don’t. From that you can tell it’s entirely subjective if you didn’t already know. Which a lot of people seem not to these days. With statements like “this movie blows”. Like their opinion is factual and means more than anyone else’s. Also, I personally think too many people compare these films to the comics and/or cartoons. I also liked them. Grew up with them. But if I get upset at every difference, I would simply read the comics and watch the cartoons again and wouldn’t even bother watching these films. I’m sorry but imo you’d have to be pretty stupid to think the films were going to be identical. Of course this is all my opinion. You don’t have to like or listen to it. Everyone has the right to their opinion. Just don’t sate it like a fact. Part of the reason I love Quentin Tarantino is that he gives everything a chance. He watches the so called “worst” b movies that get like a 1.5 on IMDB. If only more people could be like that. There’s too much snobbery when it comes to film and tv these days. I’m not saying people have to like everything but if you don’t personally like something. Why does that automatically make it shit. Are you the one who decides what is good and what’s bad? Worst part is, most of these people aren’t even payed movie critics. They’re just people with nothing better to do than trash a film that they didn’t like. The way I look at it is they’ve already wasted the time it took to watch the film. Now they’re wasting more time telling people how crap they think it is.
Although this movie is not as good as some of the better X-Men movies, it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Of course I'm biased because Nightcrawler gets to show off for once, my favorite Marvel character. I also love the scene with Magneto and Jean having a tug of war with the helicopter. The reason why X men films have issues is mostly because people hate Fox. A lot of times they criticize the films forgetting that Fox has put out multiple X men films that were great, X2, Xmen First Class, DOFP, Logan, and DP, for example. DP 2, The Wolverine, and the 1st X men were good films. Some of the complaints comes from fans upset that the movies aren't as aligned with the comics, all the while forgetting that the MCU has messed up so much stuff with Marvel characters and history, including the characterization of Iron Man.
Mutants were signfiicantly more powerful but much fewer in number. And there's enough advanced technology along with the numerical advantage, to give humans the edge in any all-out war.
People got mad with this movie cause after Disney bought Fox, the marketing was about this movie would bring conclusion to all X-Men Saga. So people expected some Endgame type of movie. Also its not your classical average superhero movie as it explores some dark places. I mean, there aren't a lot of superhero movies where the main character cries that much. People are too used to Marvel formula to let movies like Dark Phoenix a chance.
If cinematic X-men had even come close to the John Byrne/ Chris Claremont/terry Austin era of the late 80s, it would easily have been considered on par with the avengers multi movie epic.
Issue #3 they never tell us WHO the aliens are. People speculate but ya know there's at least 60 years of comics and characters to pull from for the X-Men and they were lazy!!!
There is so much history and comic book knowledge you need to know about the Phoenix Force it's too much to get into right now but here's my own simplified dumb take on it. Think of the Phoenix Force as a door on the other side of the door is power knowledge a new world doesn't matter. Jean grey was the key made specifically for the Phoenix Force door. There are other ways besides the Pacific key for that door. You can pick the lock. So think of the alien woman in this movie at the lockpick who knows knowledge about the Phoenix Force and despite her not being made for her knowledge of it prepares her body for it. The door can be kicked down by someone more powerful. there are other entrances into the structure where the Phoenix Force door resides windows and a back door. Which means other people can handle the Phoenix force despite them not being made for that pacific reason. Like wolverine due to his healing ability with a show in X-Men last stand. Logan would be a window to the Phoenix Force because he can handle the damage to Phoenix force will do to your body.
Historically Charle's Xavier isn't a telekinetic, his mental power is telepathy... Recent comic shave bumped him up but for 50+ years he only had telepathy and that's what this movie reflects.
I've always enjoyed the bigger storyline & involvement with Beast in this one and it took the Deadpool movies to give us more with Colossus. I hope the MCU does good w/ 'em.
So many things wrong with this movie. But it does give you the opportunity to compare Jean with Captain Marvel, and see the trope of ultimate power. It's much better to have stories where the heroes have limitations, IMO. So many "street level" heroes in the comics, and so few movies based on them.
Octobers, Jean is not normally a Clash 5 from what I know, shes really powerful like a 3 or 4, but its the fire entity or pheonix that entered her body and gives her more power over a class 5 level. But normally she can read minds and move stuff like magneto. Now comics and movies love changing things so correct me if im wrong in the comments but she wasnt that powerful in comics before the pheonix saga
Thats not true actually. First of all in the comics the classification goes with the letters of the Greek Alphabet so we have Beta level, Alpha Level etc, with Omega being the strongest and alpha second etc. Jean was the first to be classified as an Omega level mutant and it had nothing to do with the Phoenix Force. With the inclusion of the Phoenix shes like way above the average "human" (or mutant etc) hero levels. As years went on more and more mutants started being Identified as "Omega" some for feats theyve already shown, and others for their potential. Generally while it used to be something they first used to distinctly separate her from everyone else thats not the case anymore and its a classification for the very strong ones.

If someone was weak and tried to absorb it, they would’ve disintegrated and died from it because they weren’t powerful enough for it, like how Vuk tried to absorb it in this movie, but her body was destroyed and she died because she wasn’t on Jean’s level
A lot of people complain about this movie but I liked it a lot! Given that they only had one movie to make it happen I think they did a decent job. My only two complaints would be they did a terrible job explaining what the Phoenix force is. A lot of people still think it's a solar flare. I also wish I had a better villain. It's really hard to show her true extent of her power when she's going up against shape-shifting aliens. She should have gone up against Galactus or a celestial.
Beside that the Aliens were originally supposed to be skrulls but they had to change do to Disney buying Fox this movie originally was also going to be the start of a new trilogy focus on the Phoenix saga and they had to change the movie entirely. The movie is still good for what it was

The reason why us comic book fans are not particularly fond of this movie and the less than or last stand from the original trilogy is because they both wasted the Phoenix storyline and reduced it to one measly film, the Phoenix is one of the most powerful mutants in all of comic book lore, Plus this specific film had some pretty corny moments, like one mystique is bitching about the team should be called x-women like there are no other male mutants like for example Cyclops, beast, Kurt, Quicksilver, etc
Mystique only had two lovers. Almost always they were on opposite sides. Not this movie. Beast & Magneto teaming up to kill Jean- that’s a plot they could of stretched for a half hour more
Phoenix is yin yang enough. she's literally the spark that gave life to the universe and she can destroy it if she wants to, she's more powerful than wanda in a universal scale
Howdy neighbors! Yeah, I felt this one was ok. To me it just didn't have a great story...they had much batter routes to take with Jean and the Phoenix saga. But worth the watch at least once.
Charles has telepathy. No telekinesis. He cannot move objects not even himself. So no he can’t make himself walk. Jean has both. Therefore she can fly. Lifting herself. As the Phoenix there’s not much Jean or anyone inhabited by the Phoenix. Jean Grey has always been the perfect vehicle for the Phoenix. Add Scott’s genetics & anyone born or made from their genes is also attractive to the Phoenix Force.
Its a decent movie but far off course on what the Dark Phoenix saga is about, but better than Last Stand's failed, feeble attempt. At least this movie got it right with Jean absorbing the Phoenix Force in space on a shuttle. And taking a step back to X-Men Apocalypse, Jean shouldn't have been able to destroy Apocalypse like she did, she didn't have the Phoenix Force yet. One very big plus to this movie is the score. Hans Zimmer is a god when it comes to soundtracks. This soundtrack is perfection, just like Blade Runner 2049. Y'all should give the 90s cartoons a viewing, you'll like them if you liked the movies. The cartoons come close to following some of the major story lines from the comics
Jean is powerful but the other movies made it seem like she was born with the Phoenix force when that's not true. Jean is an omega level mutant, but she's not the most powerful mutant not even close actually. Jean isn't even the most powerful X-Men. Her actual powers are telekinesis and telepathy, and she's only an omega level telepath. Her son is actually more powerful than she is, Nate Grey. Anyone with the Phoenix force is this powerful. It goes toward people who are telepaths because it amplifies the Phoenix force's powers. And there have been telepaths that have had the powers of the Phoenix force and been just as powerful as her, Quentin Quire is an example. Crazy enough one of the most powerful users of the Phoenix is actually Logan. So I don't know why these movies keep doing this but everything that they are telling people is wrong.

I don't think this movie is as bad as people say it is, but I think it's still incredibly wasted potential. They made a lot of choices that just have me go "Huh?", but overall, I think this is still decent entertainment.
She used the Phoenix Force to defeat Apocalypse in the last movie, so her being introduced to the Phoenix Force in this movie doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
This film may be a good film, but it still could be the worst in the X-men series. reason is people love to hate. Mostly is gets a bad rap, is people love to hate. Also they completely Destroyed the Dark Phoenix Storyline. They seem to ignore character abilities. Raven has been Stabbed by Wolverine in the first film, has been Stabbed, Shot numerous times. She has the ability to move her organs. It is generally a good film, but I'd say it is on the same level as The Wolverine and Logan. Now, a bad Superhero Film is Green Lantern.

The aliens were supposed to be Skrulls but when Disney bought fox,they change the skrulls because Disney was already using them for captain marvel
They still could have used Skrulls since this isn't part of the MCU at all, but I guess they didn't think of that.
It's a likely compromise for Disney used to not being able to include mutants, at least for some time.

Dark Phoenix wasn't perfect at all but numbers don't lie. I actually enjoyed this movie very much especially on the big screen. It's not the best film out of the series but it's pretty good imo

This is without being bonded to the Phoenix Force -what was called a solar flare. The Dark Phoenix Saga is one of the greatest storylines in X men history, and it has been botched. They have not done justice to it. In the Comics, the power drives Jean crazy (actually the Hellfire Club drives her over the edge) Jean defeats the X Men -easily. She flies in to space and creates a Stargate, teleporting herself millions of light years away. Hungry, she feeds on a Star which goes Nova, a planet orbiting the Star is destroyed along with 4 billion aliens living on it. It means nothing to her. The X MEN animated series tried to do the Story, but still failed.
The story is just too convoluted. I think it failed in the comic book medium too. Comic book fans just have no standards, until someone adapts then they have standards.
As a telekinetic she can take more than just iron man blast…

I loved Dark Phoenix and saw it multiple times at the theatre. I was not one those sour pusses who just jumped on the complaining bandwagon. XMEN is my favorite series; I love the characters and unique story lines. I enjoyed all the XMEN movies because I was entertained in different ways by all of them. I cannot imagine what it took to make such epic movies. The cartoons or comics are not important to me; I just like the premise. It is laughable to read some of the negative comments from the purists who over analyze the movie. It like they have lost the ability to enjoy any movie which is quite sad. I give you guys so much credit for watching the movies for yourself and give your own honest opinion without pandering to the comments or subcribers. This is what makes your channel great. I love how you were like the comic books are important at all to me. They may not be important to you but how in the world would they have made the movie if the comic books didn't exist. The source material comes from the comic books. That is the actual storyline you like. So everything you just said does not make any sense. The people that were upset just wanted them to execute it. I like this movie. If I had one piece of advice to give to anyone when watching new films. It would be to never listen to what anyone else has to say. Good or bad. Judge for yourselves. You can take recommendations sure but don’t assume you will like it too. I liked this. Other people don’t. From that you can tell it’s entirely subjective if you didn’t already know. Which a lot of people seem not to these days. With statements like “this movie blows”. Like their opinion is factual and means more than anyone else’s.
Also, I personally think too many people compare these films to the comics and/or cartoons. I also liked them. Grew up with them. But if I get upset at every difference, I would simply read the comics and watch the cartoons again and wouldn’t even bother watching these films. I’m sorry but imo you’d have to be pretty stupid to think the films were going to be identical.
Of course this is all my opinion. You don’t have to like or listen to it. Everyone has the right to their opinion. Just don’t sate it like a fact.
Part of the reason I love Quentin Tarantino is that he gives everything a chance. He watches the so called “worst” b movies that get like a 1.5 on IMDB. If only more people could be like that. Although this movie is not as good as some of the better X-Men movies, it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Of course I'm biased because Nightcrawler gets to show off for once, my favorite Marvel character. I also love the scene with Magneto and Jean having a tug of war with the helicopter. The reason why X men films have issues is mostly because people hate Fox. A lot of times they criticize the films forgetting that Fox has put out multiple X men films that were great, X2, Xmen First Class, DOFP, Logan, and DP, for example. DP 2, The Wolverine, and the 1st X men were good films. Some of the complaints comes from fans upset that the movies aren't as aligned with the comics, all the while forgetting that the MCU has messed up so much stuff with Marvel characters and history, including the characterization of Iron Man.
I took 3 gummies before watching this in theatres, I thought it was the best movie ever. 😂 Still like the clean graphics, still a fun movie 🔥

Also its not your classical average superhero movie as it explores some dark places. I mean, there aren't a lot of superhero movies where the main character cries that much.
People are too used to Marvel formula to let movies like Dark Phoenix a chance.
If cinematic X-men had even come close to the John Byrne/ Chris Claremont/terry Austin era of the late 80s, it would easily have been considered on par with the avengers multi movie epic.

There is so much history and comic book knowledge you need to know about the Phoenix Force it's too much to get into right now but here's my own simplified dumb take on it. Think of the Phoenix Force as a door on the other side of the door is power knowledge a new world doesn't matter. Jean grey was the key made specifically for the Phoenix Force door. There are other ways besides the Pacific key for that door. You can pick the lock. So think of the alien woman in this movie at the lockpick who knows knowledge about the Phoenix Force and despite her not being made for her knowledge of it prepares her body for it. The door can be kicked down by someone more powerful. there are other entrances into the structure where the Phoenix Force door resides windows and a back door. Which means other people can handle the Phoenix force despite them not being made for that pacific reason. Like wolverine due to his healing ability with a show in X-Men last stand. Logan would be a window to the Phoenix Force because he can handle the damage to Phoenix force will do to your body.

Historically Charle's Xavier isn't a telekinetic, his mental power is telepathy... Recent comic shave bumped him up but for 50+ years he only had telepathy and that's what this movie reflects.

So many things wrong with this movie. But it does give you the opportunity to compare Jean with Captain Marvel, and see the trope of ultimate power. It's much better to have stories where the heroes have limitations, IMO. So many "street level" heroes in the comics, and so few movies based on them.
Octobers, Jean is not normally a Clash 5 from what I know, shes really powerful like a 3 or 4, but its the fire entity or pheonix that entered her body and gives her more power over a class 5 level. But normally she can read minds and move stuff like magneto.
Now comics and movies love changing things so correct me if im wrong in the comments but she wasnt that powerful in comics before the pheonix saga
Thats not true actually. First of all in the comics the classification goes with the letters of the Greek Alphabet so we have Beta level, Alpha Level etc, with Omega being the strongest and alpha second etc. Jean was the first to be classified as an Omega level mutant and it had nothing to do with the Phoenix Force. With the inclusion of the Phoenix shes like way above the average "human" (or mutant etc) hero levels. As years went on more and more mutants started being Identified as "Omega" some for feats theyve already shown, and others for their potential. Generally while it used to be something they first used to distinctly separate her from everyone else thats not the case anymore and its a classification for the very strong ones.

A lot of people complain about this movie but I liked it a lot! Given that they only had one movie to make it happen I think they did a decent job. My only two complaints would be they did a terrible job explaining what the Phoenix force is. A lot of people still think it's a solar flare. I also wish I had a better villain. It's really hard to show her true extent of her power when she's going up against shape-shifting aliens. She should have gone up against Galactus or a celestial.
Beside that the Aliens were originally supposed to be skrulls but they had to change do to Disney buying Fox this movie originally was also going to be the start of a new trilogy focus on the Phoenix saga and they had to change the movie entirely. The movie is still good for what it was

Howdy neighbors! Yeah, I felt this one was ok. To me it just didn't have a great story...they had much batter routes to take with Jean and the Phoenix saga. But worth the watch at least once.
Charles has telepathy. No telekinesis. He cannot move objects not even himself. So no he can’t make himself walk. Jean has both. Therefore she can fly. Lifting herself. As the Phoenix there’s not much Jean or anyone inhabited by the Phoenix. Jean Grey has always been the perfect vehicle for the Phoenix. Add Scott’s genetics & anyone born or made from their genes is also attractive to the Phoenix Force.

Its a decent movie but far off course on what the Dark Phoenix saga is about, but better than Last Stand's failed, feeble attempt. At least this movie got it right with Jean absorbing the Phoenix Force in space on a shuttle. And taking a step back to X-Men Apocalypse, Jean shouldn't have been able to destroy Apocalypse like she did, she didn't have the Phoenix Force yet. One very big plus to this movie is the score. Hans Zimmer is a god when it comes to soundtracks. This soundtrack is perfection, just like Blade Runner 2049. Y'all should give the 90s cartoons a viewing, you'll like them if you liked the movies. The cartoons come close to following some of the major story lines from the comics
It's a new version of the Phoenix story so it shouldn't matter if it replicates the comics or not.
Jean is powerful but the other movies made it seem like she was born with the Phoenix force when that's not true. Jean is an omega level mutant, but she's not the most powerful mutant not even close actually. Jean isn't even the most powerful X-Men. Her actual powers are telekinesis and telepathy, and she's only an omega level telepath. Her son is actually more powerful than she is, Nate Grey. Anyone with the Phoenix force is this powerful. It goes toward people who are telepaths because it amplifies the Phoenix force's powers. And there have been telepaths that have had the powers of the Phoenix force and been just as powerful as her, Quentin Quire is an example. Crazy enough one of the most powerful users of the Phoenix is actually Logan. So I don't know why these movies keep doing this but everything that they are telling people is wrong.
She's also an omega level telekinetic.
The x men 97 show did more justice to Cyclops than all the movies

I don't think this movie is as bad as people say it is, but I think it's still incredibly wasted potential. They made a lot of choices that just have me go "Huh?", but overall, I think this is still decent entertainment.
She used the Phoenix Force to defeat Apocalypse in the last movie, so her being introduced to the Phoenix Force in this movie doesn't make any sense whatsoever.
she didn't have the phoenix in Apocolypse, that was own power. They shouldn't have used a bird form tho.
This film may be a good film, but it still could be the worst in the X-men series. reason is people love to hate. Mostly is gets a bad rap, is people love to hate. Also they completely Destroyed the Dark Phoenix Storyline. They seem to ignore character abilities. Raven has been Stabbed by Wolverine in the first film, has been Stabbed, Shot numerous times. She has the ability to move her organs. It is generally a good film, but I'd say it is on the same level as The Wolverine and Logan.
Now, a bad Superhero Film is Green Lantern.
Did they really destroy the story though? Or did they simply tell it in a new way?
