Japanese developers seem to have an odd tendency to leave out update exclusive content in remakes. They did the same with the Persona 3 remake. It feels like more than just a cost cutting measure, and I honestly don't really see the appeal.
They did explicitly say it was a cost-cutting measure with Persona 3- they just weren't given the budget to do both the boy and girl protagonists campaigns, and decided more people would be into the boy's campaign rather than the girls. One can argue whether that was right or not, but there was only ever gonna be one or the other. Though for the Pixel Remasters it does seem like they just weren't interested in the GBA remake additions. The thinking seems to have been that in order for it to be "properly" nostalgic, they should concentrate on remaking the originals and deliberately ignore what came after it. Which really seems to be one of those strange developer quirks, maybe because people who were working on the originals had more nostalgia for those works, they figured they were more "deserving" of a remake, not the changed re-releases.
@@BigmanDogs Ah, you meant Persona 3 FES, and how they only really released that as DLC instead of in the original game? Yeah that is way scummier- feels like someone either at Sega or Atlus said they could easily make more money by releasing the FES stuff as DLC, and that was all they needed to hear to make it happen. Like, a whole other campaign, that is MULTITUDES more money than just the FES extra content, that I can believe was a budget issue. But the PS2 re-release, that's just them deciding this will make them more money.

Final Fantasy VI is my favorite turn-based or ATB based 16-bit RPG but IMO it doesn't need to be high priority for the HD 2D treatment. If it wasn't in the Pixel remaster collection I would be all for it but the Pixel remaster exists so I don't see a need for another Final Fantasy VI remaster in the near future. IMO Chrono Trigger and tons of lesser known Square-Enix RPGs like Robotrek or games never released in the west should be higher on the priority list.

Lufia 1&2 are my personal favourite jrpgs ❤ lufia 2 is absolute gold and I’ll never understand why it was never at the very least ported to newer consoles! It’s crazy!
Its because they want to completely change it like in the DS version where it was turned into an action rpg. All it needs is a facelift and quality of life inprovements like the remake version of Phantasy Star 1.

After that director at Square Enix said a FF6 remake would take "20 years" to do properly, I lost hope that this would ever happen. So glad to see they wised up & realized it's not necessary to give it the FF7 Remake treatment! They could even find a happy middle ground & do full CG cutscenes (like modern FF has always done) + voice acting, while making the rest HD-2D.
I would absolutely would be on board for an FFVI HD2D Remake, I love the original after my second playthrough of the game I would absolutely want it but I would prefer it to be Chrono Trigger aswell.
so question for the comments: I see a lot of desire for a chrono trigger remake. what are some reasons why or things you would want to see in that? CT is one of the few games I think it's perfect in it's current form and doesn't need touched but I'm open to getting my mind changed so hit me!
The main flaw with that game at least for me is that it's sillier than FF6 and that Chrono is such a boring character. Also menus, equipment, stats and stuff for items and magic felt a little more basic than FF6. I like to have more micromanagement, and a more serious tone. I would love to see these parts changed. It's a fantastic game though, with beautiful graphics and fantastic music. But obviously a lot of scenes look rather dated today like the 3d effects and magic effects. Clearly it looks better than original FF6 but still. Adding voice acting would also be nice IF it's done in a good way. The only thing that's perfect in both these games are the music. I see no point in adding annoying orchestral versions.
@hnorrstrom as far as chrono goes I can definitely get behind you. I have a strong bias against silent protags. as far as the simplicity tho, I've always liked that difference between the two. CT isn't as heavy thematically as FF6 but I also feel like FF6 doesn't get the credit it deserves for how funny it is at times
@@nickhurst4772 I agree FF6 have a lot of comedy as well. Just like 5 and 4 to a degree. It's not all darkness. I like these small things. Maybe it's the graphic style that makes me think of CT as sillier. I don't know.. CT would benefit a lot if you didn't have to use Chrono most of the time. I mean he is just a silent boy that's pretty much it. What is his real motivation... Being a hero? Doing cool stuff with a Katana? I would just love to play the whole game with Frog instead. I guess since I was heavily into table top rpgs when first playing these games in the 90's I just loved all the stats, and huge amounts of items and customization in 6 and was a bit disappointed when CT had less of it. Maybe today I would even prefer a more easy and fast paste approach in gameplay and fights in a possible remake today.
I am completely for a Lufia revival! Also hoping for them to put them on the switch online service, but a remaster would absolutely put me over the moon!
Final Fantasy 6 has and will always hold a special place in my heart 💜 An HD remake is, in my eyes, one of the best ways to bring it back to current generations while preserving its magic and essence :) I hope it happens! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger would be fantastic games to get the HD2D treatment!! I haven’t played either yet but I think they both would be great additions to that style!
I find it fascinating that Artdink has been making games (a TON of them!) since 1988. But it wasn't until they made Triangle Strategy in 2022 that anyone really cared about them. It took them 34 years to hit their stride, but good on them for making 2 noteworthy games. As long as they stick with HD-2D, I'm along for the ride
I'd adore a lufia 1 and 2 hd2d collection. They're underrated amazing games. I think a Chrono trigger done in that trails of mana style would be great.

Most Bad Ass Sleeveless Shirt Ever Made
As an old school Final Fantasy lover......hells yeah!
They'll probably censor the hell out of it, simplify it to the max and cover up Terra Esper mode.
I would absolutely would be on board for an FFVI HD2D Remake, I love the original after my second playthrough of the game I would absolutely want it but I would prefer it to be Chrono Trigger aswell.
This would be the single best decision square has made since the golden age of FF. Hands Down.
FF6 would get my money for a remake. It was the first RPG I truly fell in love with completely. Music, characters, story, all of it.
Also revived Lufia would be dope!
so question for the comments: I see a lot of desire for a chrono trigger remake. what are some reasons why or things you would want to see in that?
Remaking that game is 100% a wonderful idea!
Final Fantasy 6 has and will always hold a special place in my heart 💜
An HD remake is, in my eyes, one of the best ways to bring it back to current generations while preserving its magic and essence :)
I hope it happens! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
imagine if ff9 (ik about the leaked remake) or ff6 gets a ff7 level remake, that would be awesome
Square would ruin it. Ruining VI is a greater sin than ruining VII
@@KittysCat-j7x they didnt ruin 7 tho, if they did then how and if they ruined 7 it would be the biggest sin imo
@@xveyronxmaster7123 We both have our opinions I guess.
@@KittysCat-j7x fair enough I agree with that, ty for the conversation
I hope this is just to hold us over as they prepare a full FF6remake 😊
Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger would be fantastic games to get the HD2D treatment!! I haven’t played either yet but I think they both would be great additions to that style!
FFVI HD2D speculation and a Lufia II mention?? A man after my own heart.
Maybe I’ll actually play it in entirety and not get bored of it this time
I find it fascinating that Artdink has been making games (a TON of them!) since 1988. But it wasn't until they made Triangle Strategy in 2022 that anyone really cared about them. It took them 34 years to hit their stride, but good on them for making 2 noteworthy games. As long as they stick with HD-2D, I'm along for the ride
Dragon Quest 3 2D HD remake question is there still a book of Satori (the book that turns your character to a Sage)in Ruldimer
Having an HD2D Final Fantasy VI is my absolute dream. I would throw a party for at least a week, and even buy the booze.
Hahahah! You and me both my friend, and thanks so much for the footage!
I would literally scream. Ff6 is the absolute best rpg ever made imo. Hopefully it comes out before I die.
They would never do it but I would love a full final fantasy 7 style remake.
Lufia 2 is one of my favorite games. I’d love a version of it that I could play on a modern console. You know what else I want? SHADOW HEARTS!!
Imagine a reimagining of the first Lufia in the style of Lufia 2.
Happy to hear this..but I need Chrono Trigger first..we atleast have the Pixel Remaster of FF6 to play on Ps5..
An UE5 HD-2D FF9 remake would be an ideal hit for the Switch 2 coming next year.
Lufia 2 is an underrated masterpiece. I think a dual remake of the both SNES titles could put Lufia 1 on the same level as Lufia 2.
Mannnnn I really freaking hope so!!!! Where do I sign up!
I'd adore a lufia 1 and 2 hd2d collection. They're underrated amazing games. I think a Chrono trigger done in that trails of mana style would be great.
Couldn't agree more!
