Great video as always! When I still had my KLR, I had a Corbin with vinyl top and I used to slide all over the place; I probably should have gotten their version of a stickier top... Anyway, thanks for the video! Your voice is very calm and soothing, it's like therapy to listen to :)
Excellent review. Now to get my KLR so I can buy a new seat lol. I have a Vulcan 900 custom and put off buying a new seat for years, finally went with a Mustang seat which made me a firm believer in the comfort of aftermarket seats. Thanks again for the great review.
Another well presented product review. Thank you Pete. I’ve got just under 700 miles on my new Beta and they’ve all been torturous 😧 No kidding this is poorly padded 2x4. But Seat Concepts does make a replacement for it. So I’ll be putting that on my list to get Bill
I haven't got my hands on a DR650 yet, but I do have a DR-Z400S. The factory seat on that thing was AWFUL. It's weird, but the Seat Concepts will feel really firm when you first get on it, but that extra width and firmness really combine to give you much better support. I found it to be the same way with my KLR seat, the factory seat was wide enough for me, but the foam was waaaaaay too soft and I would sink down into the seat. The seat concepts was firmer and wider and made all day on the KLR a reality, just like it did on my DR-Z.
The trip was to the California redwoods and northern coast areas of California. I had a Moto-Z Tractionator Adventure front tire that did not work well with my bike (too stiff and made the front end twitchy at speed) so I pulled it off right after that ride and went with a continental TKC-80 that rode a lot better after that. The rear tire was a Kenda Big Block which seems to work really well (in my opinion) for all around riding.
So I actually have a DRZ400s also. I got the standard (comfort), regular height, seat. MASSIVE improvement over stock. I've done 12hr days on the Oregon Back Country discovery route on that thing. It's awesome! I have a standard seat on the KLR also. I haven't tried the commuter or the new XL wide models. Here's my video on the DRZ seat: th-cam.com/video/JGwbaxCIVGc/w-d-xo.html
That was the comfort seat I believe. I've still got it on the bike and ride it daily to work. Tons of miles on it now including some LONG trips and it's held up great. Love it. Link to it on Seat Concepts website: seatconcepts.com/products/kawasaki-1988-16-klr650?rq=yr_2006~mk_kawasaki~md_klr-650
Full replacement seat is $279.99 + shipping ($20ish) if you get it directly from seat concepts. So basically $300. You can find them slightly cheaper on dealer websites like www.rockymountainatv.com, but they may not have the materials choice selections like if you get it straight from seat concepts... There's can also be a lead time for seat concepts to get it built for you so you better check with them before you order depending on how fast you need it.
I had one on my KLR when I rode from Canada to Argentina. They are awesome seats. All day comfort
I just did a 12 hour day in the saddle this last weekend (lots of gravel roads involved too!) My hands/wrists give out before my butt. :-)
Good review! All the right questions were answered. Thanks.
I put the seat concepts commuter version on my KLR and have been very happy with it.

Great job on the video. Very informative and detailed.
Nice clear review. I’m considering one for my klr650.

Nice job....been wondering about my new DR 650 with the concrete seat next to my soft tooshie.....it does hurt.

Very informative. Ordering my commuter this week. Where did you head to at the end? And what kind of tires did you use for your trip?

Which one did you get and why? The commuter or the comfort? Idk what to get haha. I have a drz400s
Thank you.
