Subscribed! When the other big channels sell their KLR's (guy in Wisconsin), or disappear altogether (guy in Florida) I search for good replacements. Thank you for sharing your practical, real world experience.
Great presentation sir. I am now a subscriber. I own 3 Gen3 KLR650's. They all sport the Seat Concepts Commuter Low touring seat. I have several single day 200+ mile rides, a 317, 453 and 551 miler rides. For me this seat does the job. Thank u sir.
Thanks for the video. I had a '22 Adventure with a Sargent. It was one of those seats that let you never think about the seat itself. In other words, if you don't think about your rear then everything is good right? Then last spring I got hit by a car and totaled the bike. When I replaced it with a 23, I went with the Seat Concepts. Did not work at all for me, and I replaced it with another Sargent. I love it. What works for me, may not work for others.
All about finding what’s right for you! Curious, what model Seat Concepts did you try? I looked at the Sargent but it didn’t seem quite as wide as the XL. Glad to hear you are back on a KLR!
Thank you for this review. Very helpful. I kept hearing the stock KLR seat is quite comfortable compared to other adventure bikes. I suppose nothing can compare with aftermarket options though!
Sure did. I actually waffled back and forth between the Tall and the XL. Very happy I went with the XL for the extra width. It’s so much more comfortable being able to move around on the seat a bit more.
Seat choice is highly subjective. That being said, I've never found my stock '08 KLR650 seat uncomfortable on a day-to-day basis. However, the cheapo version of the Maddog pad helps on those multi-thousand-mile rides.
Just to be clear. With the XL seat, you still have the issue of the further distance from the seating and standing position or does the XL seat help with that as well.?
Totally helps. The Commuter’s dish makes you sit down low right on the tank. With the XL you are up slightly higher and can stand directly up from wherever you are sitting. If you slide back on the seat to move weight over the rear tire, when you stand up your weight is already back. It just feels so much more natural and seems like it takes less effort.
I've got the seat concepts comfort xl and I've only put 100 or so miles on it but I was wondering if there was a break in period for you and if so how many miles was it? Out of the box it's better than stock but still somewhat stiff.
Definitely stiff out of the box but gave me an extra couple hours before my undercarriage started getting sore. I’m at just under 1000 miles and feels like its starting to break in or at least it’s not as noticeable. Totally eliminated the pressure points tho so I’m a happy rider 🤘
Is…the stock seat. You want a bagger or Gold Wing, get one. You got a KLR-ride it. The seat money you don’t waste will pay for gas on a lot of adventures. Just sayin; these folks are all tryin to sell you stuff you don’t need

What about the guy in Virginia?
@@klrshthead2906 Gary B? I'll check him out.
I've tried them all and decided to get the Sergeant seat for my KLR by far the best for me.
That’s a good one!

@@ShiftyMotoLooking back at my receipt, it says "comfort/carbon fiber" .

Great comparison video.
Great video. Thanks. Did you look at the Seat Concepts "Tall" seat for the KLR. I'm 6'5" and considering that option when budget allows.
Sure did. I actually waffled back and forth between the Tall and the XL. Very happy I went with the XL for the extra width. It’s so much more comfortable being able to move around on the seat a bit more.
Thanks. That makes sense, looks like a great seat. Enjoy. I look forward to your BDR updates.
Thank you from germany! Though my bike is a xt660r, its helpful for customizing my seat.
How about the Corbin it looks really nice.
They are hard as a rock. Some like sitting on rocks. Toads, for example. 😀

I own a 22/24.
I have no pricked with the stock seat. I ride them daily. The seat have now broken in to my body.
I have no plans on changing either.

Will it fit on the S ?
Yes. Check their website but they list the S.

How are you gonna make this video and not include a seat from richs? They custom build them to you so it only fits you ?
Never heard of them.

Why would you want to ride something that was uncomfortable? Investing in good contact points make a world of difference.
You seem to have small, unhappy animals in your recording room.
