That is some of the most tasty Blues phrasing that anyone could ever hear, and he is certainly the long-running master of such chops on the axe! Killer tone and control, and always great choice of notes to evoke a mystic quality out of the changes, especially in the turnaround and creating tension! I've been fortunate to see Robben play many many times over the years. I went to GIT in '85 to '86 and he was an instructor there at the time and I saw him play almost everyday. Also saw him in his "Blue Line" era 6 times. Always an eye-opener treat!🎉🎸👊✌️
On some parts of this four minute blues extravaganza of a guitar solo, I literally lost my breath it was that affecting to my soul for his timing and phrasing came together in those moments and worked for me.
He lets it breathe, plays way fewer notes than he is “capable” of, and demonstrates how phrasing to evoke emotion is the beating heart and core of soloing. Not speed for speed’s sake, not funky scales (though he uses them judiciously for extra color), and not prepackaged licks. Thank you, sensei!
Always a conversation in progress, line by line and pause to reflect. Your seminars at the hole in the wall Kenelly Keys Music/Greenwood in Seattle were gold.TipOtheHat to Don Mock and REH music for their contribution. The gig you did with Grant Geisman at the LA Homeless center is some sweet soulful stuff
What a great idea.💡 A book on guitar phrasing. I want to see books for other styles as well, especially coming from this Cat here. Cool idea, Robben! 👏✌️👍🎹🎸🎙✨️✨️
That line descending to a big fat surprise bend - reminds me of the way Sonny Rollins used low notes as a counterpoint to melodic lines. I spired playing, glorious sound.
I’m fully aware that a lot of tone is in the hands, and Robben is an amazing master of his craft. But I’m curious to know what the signal chain is. I love that sustain and clean but subtly overdriven tone.
The sound is like his playing, both precise and open. We are on another blues planet.
Sweet Jesus this is magnificent!
the inexhaustible phrasing, i could listen to master robben for hours ❤🎸🎵
Robben's hands and soul are pure creative artistry. People it's not the guitar, it's in his hands. Thanks Robben.

Robben thanks for inspiring me all these years❤

Been a fan since late 70s, thank you for your music
Very refreshing to hear playing like this. You'll probably never see this, but thank you.

Thanks for the guitar phrasing Robben! You will always be my fav axe player!
That guitar sounds like pure magic..... 👊Robben.
Beautiful tone you got going there on the guitar! Hope to see you perform live again.
🥲 beautiful 🙏
Seen the master play Blues for Lonnie Johnson live in the Netherlands. A dream became true.
Killllin. Love how he disguises the changes yet you still hear them in his phrases…and Not a cliche in the bunch.
ABSOLUTELY 💯, my thoughts exactly 😊
Great use of space and an excellent example of how to build intensity in a long solo.
Awesome.
Robben is a soul singer/ horn player that is using the guitar to sing and play some amazing music. Keep on rockin my brother🎉💯😎🙏
Really dig watching Robben having so much fun., mastery from the maestro and a book to boot! Dig it!
My wife got me your new book for Xmas - love it. Thanks, Robben!
Awesome Robben.
Always tasty! 😎 can’t wait for the book to come out. Woo hoo!
Thanks Robben. Everything I hear you,it is refreshing!
Sonically, you always seem to be playing the most perfect notes available. There is always such a big melodic range and tension within your phrases.

Legend 🎸
This is just so good!!!!
The most overlooked topic when soloing, phrasing is everything, no matter if it is a slow solo or shredding, will certainly look into this one
Been a fan since the Charlie Musselwhite days, and clearly London suits you, thanks for all the music Robben🤘🏻
Love It!
Ele toca de uma forma única ,mestre !
Bravo Robben
Love that tone. It sounds like a horn 😎
His phrasing is so horn like. Also his tone is that way too. Just mastery on display
Took a minute but he's got the PRS dialed in! Effortless mastery !
Grazie Robben. Booking forward to meeting you again one day. In the meantime, will get the book once is done
OK, that's sold the book for me!

So intelligent and emotional….❤😊👍
Yeah man!
Tone village! Cool wood block sound diffuser in the background masquerading as art. The headstock on that PRS is massive.
Chills
The dna of Michael Bloomfield in this joyful playing.
Aw man🎸❤️😎👍🏼

E vai!❤
Saluo desde Xile ❤
❤
master
Robben!
He runs his slapback so loud that it gives the guitar tone an almost a woodwind instrument or brass horn quality.
Million guitars play in world. This is the only one which like tender tamed volcano produces spacey sound (I mean volume in dimension).
There is soooo much Bloomfield in Ford!
Robben has the bigger headstock on his Signature PRS. THATS IT!😊
He's putting out a book?!?
現役最高峰のギタリストの1人!
he’s singing
Tone for days
PRS . Huh .
Black!
I bet its a good one, I have a couple amps and now I'm a big fan of Doug Sewell. If I ever rate a swanky guitar I will look into their catalog.
Robben asked PRS to enlarge the headstock on his signature model. Good call! 👍🏻
Amazing as always! I swear you could give RF a stick and some wire, and somehow, he would still come out with that amazing tone!
I love Robben, seen him live a few times, but I don't care for this guitar tone.
Keep up.
Hey My PRS doesn't sound that good😮😊❤
horrid sound, and all of uneven, plus dead notes,
