    I think I actually love you! I've spent 4 years in architecture school, editing out the white background and trying to find good photos of trees. How did I not know that photoshop could render trees!!!!! Thank you.

    I find the Max Achkovsky's trees number 1 tree collection in the whole 3D Warehouse. They look good and they are very well optimized, even though they seem a bit heavy. For a simple scene you don't even need proxies for a smooth viewport navigation. When there are more, I like to put all leaves on a separate layer and turn if off temporarily.

    Hay Justin,
    that was the coolest video yet. I'm getting more familiar with Photoshop and what you just showed me with adding trees in Photoshop just became icing on the cake. The way you describe SketchUp and Photoshop it's almost like they are secret lovers!!

    This is a terrific overview - thank you. Now I need to watch your video a few more times to review the steps you took.
    With architectural renderings which are stylized I like the ability to select vegetation that relates to the style of the drawing and presentation - and was not aware of options available. I look forward to learning more from you and appreciate your assist in expanding my knowledge.
    Best,
    Alin

    I've been creating VR-models from SketchUp lately which unfortunately does not work well with transparency texture maps and reflective surfaces. So if it is supposed to look fine in VR near window reflections or water, be sure that branches and leaves are geometry.

      Hi Willem! I'm really liking it - it's just so easy to use - plus it can generate grass on textures with the word "Grass" in the description, which is also helpful. Thanks!

      That sky is generated using Enscape. That being said, tomorrow I'll also have a video for how to swap a sky out in Photoshop. Thanks!

    2 additional resources: xfrog.com/ (huge vegetation library) and www.suplugins.com/podiumbrowser/index.php which for $59 gives you 1000s of good quality models including LOTS of vegetation. One of the best 3D bargains on the web, imo. You probably know this, but one of the coolest things about Skatter is that you're not limited to its built-in asset library - it will scatter any components, incl. ones from the other products listed here...powerful stuff!
    And as a side note...holy cow! When did Photoshop get trees in the render menu?? I really have not been paying attention to that area of PS, haha!

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll have to check those out - good point about Skatter, it's just that the built in trees are pretty good, so I focused on those. Thanks!

    • @jakeperl5857
      @jakeperl5857 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup. I'm also very impressed with the built-in grass.

    Great video! (tried installing laubwerk on my mac but sketchup doesn't recognize where it is, bummer).

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm - I'll have to look when I get home, but if it installed it to a different folder than your default folder, maybe you can move the .rb file into your plugins folder? I can't remember what it did when I installed it

    Hi Justin Great work!! Isnt there a way to stripe down the polygon count without lousing quality in order to make large models not slow down sketch-up?m I thought that there was a plugin that can do that and if so whats the sacrifice? Waiting on your Base-camp Lecture :)

    • @Thesketchupessentials
      @Thesketchupessentials  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, you could use proxy components, meaning you could swap out the high poly components for low poly until you need them - it would basically be kind of like the process used in this video - th-cam.com/video/fpl6NK21p2w/w-d-xo.html - That's what Laubwerk and Skatter do to keep from freezing your SketchUp with all their polygons. Not sure if there's a plugin for that or not...Basecamp's not until September, so I probably need to start developing the lecture out a bit more ;p - Thanks!
