Excellent video. I would add that for draft mode it's probably quicker to toggle to the Nvidia denoiser then change it to VRay for final render. But excellently consise. So helpful as always!
Loved the video. Lets see how much I can Implement it now to my renders. If I see even a tiny bit progress, I'm definitely joining the sketchup school. Thanks. :)

Hello ! Thanks for the fantastic videos making my life so much easier ! :) My question is if a free version of V-Ray exists for those who use SketchUp Free or should I get the paid SketchUp and then the add-ons for V-ray ?
You're welcome! Glad to hear our videos are making your life easier! There isn't an ability to add any kind of rendering extension to SketchUp Free since it is a web-browser based application. So you would need to upgrade to SketchUp Pro and then add the V-Ray for SketchUp extension.
Yes, you can import an image to be the background in SketchUp and there are many reasons that can be a preferred workflow. But when it comes to having an easy way to control the appearance of the background later, it can sometimes be best to add it after the fact in Photoshop.
Hi I have used ton of your videos to help me learn so much. Thank you. I am not seeing the affect channels to change the rendering to color + alpha. I am on a mac.
hi, how are you doing? I am Rick G. and I've been using VRay for 2 weeks and it has been amazing the renders I've been getting but I guess I need to learn more, however, thank you for the videos. can you tell again how much are the videos ?
Our Video Course Library on our website contains $8700 worth of our professional courses for $599/year (or $159/month). You can learn more here: www.sketchupschool.com/video-course-library
In your top menu, select Camera > Field of View. Then you can type a number like 50 and press the Enter or Return key to change your Field of View to 50 degrees. The higher the number, the wider of a view you will have.
@@INR-CAD In the V-Ray Asset Editor, click on the gear icon (for Settings), then in the Render Output menu, you'll see the settings for Image Width/Height (which are measured in pixels) and Aspect Ratio (which is the ratio of width to height... where 16:9 means for every 16 pixels wide, the image is 9 pixels in height).
great video and really helpful. is there anyway to scale down size of background images of HDR skies while using dome light? its a huge issue i fail because every time i use dome-light the background image is so cause it often never matches with the size of the model and gives me unrealistic renders
There's not a way to scale down the size of an HDR image in a Dome Light. A workaround: If you want to control the size, create a dome shape in SketchUp, and apply a self illuminated material of the background image there, then you can scale the SketchUp dome and the texture will follow.
The links are in the notes for the video, which you can get on our website here: www.sketchupschool.com/create-interior-renderings-with-vray-for-sketchup/notes
Very enlightening video! (pun intended :P) I'm having trouble with daylight on my interior renders, it appears the sun light (or dome light) is not entering the interior, there is light coming from the exterior, but looks like the windows are facing a different angle and I haven't been able to correct it no matter if I rotate the dome light or the entire model
Hi, how can I have or get vray for my sketchup 2018? please need your advise because its not enough for me to present my sketch up drawing without render using vray, and also I want to learn the vray.

I'm new to sketch up. My team is helping me learn and with yr videos it's extremely helpful. One of my suggestion is if you could make a video of what choice do we have regarding software ,like sketch up and and v ray. I'm using the studio pc and I cant figure out which program goes with what or work with which (the design team is too pro level for me). There are tons of add on and things that are available which I cant find when I just installed sketch up and v ray on my personal pc at home. And which is best for me? Should I dive in sketch up pro? But I'm just a beginner. I do event management so most of my 3d isn't as detailed as architecture drawing but I need photo realistic render for my client.
@@mrbrightside3771 Since you are working professionally on an event design team, we recommend you start with SketchUp Pro. And because you need photorealistic renderings, V-Ray for SketchUp is a great choice. As far as other extensions: Before you worry about adding a bunch of extra tools, it's really important to get the hang of the fundamentals of SketchUp first. You can definitely learn those on your own (hopefully with help from your team), but if you want to get up to speed quickly and avoid wasting time or picking up bad habits, we recommend you take a look at our Video Course Library which has courses that will help you learn everything from the fundamentals, all of the way up to creating photorealistic renderings with V-Ray for SketchUp. It could have to do with a few different things. The first thing to check is your render quality settings: If they are set to Low or even Medium, then you will have some pixelation. Of course, higher quality leads to longer rendering times, but when you are ready to create a final rendering the higher quality will help. Also, for the denoiser, you just need to have it turned on. The default settings should work fine in most cases. After those two things, if you still have a bit of pixelation, it can often be due to an issue with your lighting and exposure. If you have an imbalance there, it can lead to some graininess in the image.
Apply a stainless steel material to the surfaces and render - of course, you'll need to adjust lights and get everything else right, but the stainless steel is just a matter of adding the correct material from V-Ray's material library.
