  • John from www.growingyourgreens.com/ goes on a field trip to Home Depot to share with you the tape he used to seal his polycarbonate. One of the most asked questions about the Harbor Freight Green House is "Where do you find the tape you use to seal the ends of the Twin Wall Green House Panels? and What kind of tape is it? In this video you will learn the answer.

I want to share my recent experience so that nobody else has to go through it.
This metallic tape and it's caulk backing work well on the regular panels but there is not any room for it in the close tolerances of the doors. It was quite tight in the vent panels and impossible in the doors. I sealed all 8 door panels before trying to assemble the doors. I have painstakingly removed the aluminum tape and caulk from 5 of the 8 panels. It cost me a day of labor and had me saying things that I normally wouldn't. 3 more panels to go. Applying the tape was a piece of cake compared to removing it and it's caulk residue. I wished that someone had pointed this out earlier. Really. The frustration factor pegged when I realized the extra actions required to counter the initial extra actions of sealing the panels.

UPDATE 2022: Home Depot as well as Menards and Lowes all carry the AntiDUST vent tape + sealing tape in a combination packet. It is the top of the line vent + sealing tape on the market and is the original vent tape by Multifoil. Aluminum will crack and tear allowing moisture and debris to enter the flutes of the sheets. You'll pay a bit more but it's worth maintaining the clarity of your sheets.

Thank you for this We're building our first greenhouse, the small Harbor Freight, this week. Bought it earlier than expected as Harbor Freight had a one-day special and it cost $239. I mean, wow, right? The big problem was not having a car to bring it home in, so I thought would need it shipped (talk about expensive). Rented a truck from Home Depot -- cost $25 for 70 minutes -- no upfront megabucks like U-Haul, just 25 bucks. So we're on our way. Thanks, John.

Thanks for the post, do you think that stuff would work for small hole repairs in pond lining? I've just got an allotment and want to restore the old pond I found there so newts and frogs can come back.

I need to do this for my panels. Here in Northern Cali my panels have been getting darker and darker. And while I thought it was dust on the surface, turns out that dust had been getting down INSIDE the panels and was acting pretty much like a shade cloth. I need to pull them all off and rinse them out before putting this tape stuff on.

This video was made in 2011 and I'm wondering if anyone has used this tape outdoors and how it has held up over the last 10 years to the sun and rain.

Doesn't multi-wall polycarbonate need to breath. Isn't the correct dust tape designed to sealed at bottom and vented at top?

Rodents hate the smell of peppermint essential oil. I use doTerra since it is the best quality available. You may want to put some on a cotton ball and hang it by threads from the roof. Do not put it on the polyethylene of your green house since it can eat through it. If it is out in your garden, you can put the cotton balls on top of some wooden stakes that you place in your garden. I have also heard of people putting some rubber snakes in your garden, as well. Maybe you could put some peppermint oil on the snakes, as well... I don't know if growing peppermint in your garden beds would help or not, but it might be worth a try...but peppermint can be quite invasive...

I live in Australia, Today I went to our biggest Hardware store (Bunnings), they sell only 1 thing organic (compost) but its not even certified, to top it off I was looking for some ducting exactly like the ones behind you at :41 into the vid for 16.99, but Bunnings has no ducting whatsoever. Ive been there 4 times in the last week looking for different things and left with nothing. I wish Australia would get there act together.

Tuck Tape makes an 'Outdoor Repair Tape' which is clear, says it is made of UV resistant film and adhesive, good to -10 Celsius (but we get -40 sometimes here). It looks like it would be gos stuff to use. Thoughts?

Hi I'm currently replacing the glass with twin walled polycarbonate on my greenhouse due to a change of regulation at my allotment here in the UK. I plan to seal & paint the panels black then fill the polly sheet channels with water across the north wall to help store some heat 👍

We did a weatherproofing of these greenhouses on our channel. So far our tape has held pretty strong and we are faced with blizzards and nor easter storms. Please feel free to check out our video we might be able to help.
