The benefits of this surgery were temporary for my younger Brother , but he was never able to gain control of his hunger , and he died of “Liver Failure” several years ago. I really appreciate your teaching style Ben !
I had the sleeve. I'm a success story. I did as I was told, for the past 14 years I've focused on protein. I also paid attention, knowing that I would eventually be faced with hunger or cravings again some day. I lost 175, regained 25. I now eat keto and follow Dr. Bikman because I also have lymphedema. The person getting the surgery has to remember what we are told, it's a tool, not a cure.
A relative of mine had gastric sleeve she could only eat a little bit at a time and was so hungry she would over do it and throw up. She now has bowel trouble where she has extremely hard stools and it just about kills her to poop. She also has hoshimotos which is totally out of control. Her doctor has her drinking protein shakes, eating carbs, and avoiding fat. The poor girl is a mess physically and emotionally.
The little she can eat should be carnivore. Beef, lamb, butter eggs, fish. Anything from animal or fish. Make sure she takes all her extra vitamins and minerals from the doctor. Don't forget salt. Very important. Salt in warm water if not on food. NUTRITIONAL NOTE. There is no such thing as an essential carbohydrate & she has limited food she can eat. Check the ingredients of the protein drink. Look on Google for those you don't know. I did it was a shock. One protein drink which Doctors in the UK often prescribe is not much more than sugar & chemicals. She would get more nutrition from full fat milk. Add double cream to drink less milk, this cut's the sugar in milk. As most suger is naturally removed in cream. Hopefully you will get this and its not removed and she will follow the diet at least for 90 days. Just to trial.
Hello Dr. Bikman, first of all I would like to thank you for your content, I am a fan and thanks to you and many other experts like Dr. Fung I have lost 80 kg in 2 years. Now I am facing a problem, I have to take cartosol orally for 4 weeks because of an inflammation in my shoulder, how do you think it makes sense to eat during this time, my cortisol level will be incredibly high in the next few weeks, and severely so, I have been doing it for 2 days now and have already gained a few kg of water. But I will certainly also gain fat. I just switched from keto to a normal diet 2 weeks ago, I eat about 250g carbs, 180g protein and 60g fat. Is it correct that zje liver will be permanent du gluconeogenese and also the pancrias will elevating insulin permanent, i remember you said in former lessons, if insulin is high no glzcose from protein will produceced. If i eat enoufh carbs, will glyconeogenese anyhow work permanent. Thank you
My friend had bariatric surgery 10 years ago, after trying everything, including keto. He lost weight. Then covid hit and he gained 45 lbs back and can't lose it now. I think this is another example of a solution that isn't right. He has food addiction and never learned to deal with food cravings etc.
Probably my least favorite show of the series, perhaps Dr B's as well (a certain lack of enthusiasm?) - bariatric procedure(s) seem like watching a train wreck in slow motion.
I know Bariatric surgery, at least bypass reverses Type 2 diabetes on day one, but I have never heard if we discovered the mechanism for this. I did just hear an MD say that even if you eat a low carb diet and get A1C down to 4.9 for a couple years, you will always have type 2, but I know Ken Berry MD does not agree with this, if the person begins eating sugary foods again will they quickly becomes type 2 again? I do think with glp1s bypass surgery may quickly become obsolete and unnecessary??
Great video Dr Bickman, they should make existing doctors listen to them maybe they can become something besides protocol followers.

Very informative and greatly explained as always. Thank you very much, professor
Excellent as usual

@TammyFriend7250 Sadly, she will not do carnivore or Keto. She thinks it's crazy and dangerous.
Danke
It seems crazy to me to take a digestive system that works and destroy it. Who actually came up with that as a solution?
what about Laparoscopic Greater Curvature Plication (LGCP)? what is the effectiveness of that procedure on metabolic health?

What about relationship insulin - testosteron, Ben? Thanks.
Interesting

Ben Blinkman.
Great observation. Is there a specific reason this is relevant?

I had heard it had something to do with the removal of the duodenum.
In The Netherlands government is considering approval of bariatric surgery for children. Destroying their chances of a healthy metabolism for life! 🤯
I read bariatric as barbaric. Weird for me.
What do you mean
I wish you'd re-educate Dr. Mike about the energy balance hypothesis. He still promotes that nonsense.
Who is Dr. Mike?
@@billierichter1379 you can easily find him on TH-cam.
