I think people sleep on J Hope because his rapping within the 7 is usually a bridge between Suga and RM. But that is a really hard thing to do! J Hope's style is super versatile and he makes it look easy so people sleep on his talent.
It's good that he has fans who know that his rap is the most interesting and not just a "bridge" and I'm glad I'm one of them.
@falling_for3171 For give me if I am reading sarcasm into this statement. But, Bridges are super important, they serve as points of connection and without them we couldn't get far. Also, maybe I should have said that I admire J Hope's versatility. Because, that's what my comment inferred.
That’s actually one of the reasons he became my bias. He first got my attention when I was looking at the behind-the-scenes of billboard 2018. He was such a sunshine. Then I noticed he was so damn talented, but he didn’t get attention like some of the other members. I felt like he got slept on and that was it. Been my bias since December 2018.
As a latina, I absolutely love this song! Becky G totally nailed it, her vocals, her rap, switching from english to spanish just like Hobi from korean to English, this was a true homage to both their latin and korean roots respectively. Super fun song and MV.
There's a live performance of this song by the seven members in one of their online concerts Sowoozoo, they had so much fun doing it, RM and Jimin killing it with the Spanish parts and JK vocals! Amazing!
Also JHope and Becky G were able to perform this song together for the first time last year at lollapalooza, after three years since it's release.

Yeah. Please don't pit one J-Hope against the other. J-Hope is awesome in both! No need to put one venue down in praise of the other. BTS is his love and soul. He would not like to hear you say solo J-Hope is better than BTS J-Hope. We Americans like to play the zero-sum game. 😕
JHope is such a mesmerizing performer. That extra flair he puts on everything in performance makes it obvious why he’s become a world-class superstar. I really think he is my bias these days. 😊

One thing I love is how much respect BTS shows. Here to BeckyG and the backup dancers all getting credit. To Bianca for the original song with a huge payment (I think $1.7M) directly to her for the song being his inspiration to start dancing. Also how they helped get Megan the Stallion the payment and rights to be in Butter with them when she was fighting her own label. Respect for artists always. 💜💜💜
I love the commenting on how Jhope opens the door for Becky G-it is a sign of respect & a show of class, which is backed up be everything that BTS does with other artist they work with. j-hope has kid dancers because that’s how he started. He practically came out of the womb dancing and was in a street dance crew (Neuron) in his home town by elementary school. He couldn’t afford much lessons at the dance academy he was going to, so he would watch the lessons and practice on his own. His mom took on extra work to afford lessons for him and was super supportive. He made a song about her (MAMA) because she really made it possible for him to do what he does now.

about a year ago almost Becky joined Hobi on stage @ hobipallooza and they did it live for the first time!!! the whole hobipallooza was incredible, maybe after you hear more of his songs you'll be able to enjoy it more BUT even if you didn't, it's an incredible performance, it's sick!! its on yt (or used to be) gonna check

Nice reaction! This was DJ Webstar and Young B on the original. j-hope always shouts them out and they were both really happy with how they remade the song. Chicken Noodle Soup was the first song he danced to so he wanted to pay homage to the song that started him on the path to dance/music.

I think sometimes j-hope's versatility works against him (it shouldn't but it does) because he's harder to pin down. You listen to BTS and you immediately get a sense of what RM does and what Suga does and it's more traditional and it feels really concrete. "They're rappers, they rap like this, they're incredibly good at it, I get it." But j-hope is rapping slow and swaggy, or doing a lot of adlibs, or singing, or doing a character driven rap, or doing a belly-cry belt thing that is kind of rap but kind of singing, and this song is slow but this song is exuberant but this song is boom-bap, and this song is trap with autotune...it takes more time to get a grasp on what he's doing because he's doing something different every time. After a while, you start to realize that j-hope's verse or part is your favorite part of every song because he just comes on sideways and makes you move. But I think once you start to get a handle on it and see more of it and especially watch him live, it all starts to add up and the big picture all those pieces make up is something quite phenomenal. A portrait of a singular talent, a superstar, a jack of all trades. I think it makes him an incredibly exciting artist. And I love the energy and vibes he brings too. He's got *it*.

He does so many thing flawlessly that you can’t pin point him into one. His verses on BTS songs always make a switch that tickles your brain. His rapping style is very original, very him, as a dancer his flows and cadences sound like dancing on beats.

Great commentary guys! I also found it really interesting how you were disecting the different components of the video/vocals and even the language use in the song. Not many people realize Jhope made nothing on this song and paid it forward by purchasing the sample for 2 mil from the orginal artist to show her respect for the inspiration, great research! It was funny when you guys got so emersed that you didnt even realize Jhope was infact raping in Korean when you were trying to remember the begining. It's actually a really common thing that happens once you've really let yourself get into their music, you literally forget that it's in another language especially when the lyrics are translated on the screen. Brains are fascinating that way. ❤
