Our cx5 mk2 diesel is coming up for 3 years old in December. Even with the minor design niggles it's been a great car to us and still is a great car. Did the NC500 with it last year and it tackled the twisty Highland roads with ease. Out of all the upgrades I could have suggested, heated rear seats and fully heated windscreen instead of the heated wiper section would have been a good start.
I ordered a new CX-5 last week. Exclusive-line Automatic with Driver's Assistance Pack. Do not ever want a car with a turbocharger again. I would if they changed the oil every 6 months. As it is the turbocharger bearing fails with dirty oil. I have a turbocharged motorcycle I built myself so I know what I am talking about. Get a turbocharged car only if you're going to service it yourself. I am IMI and EAL certified with Honda, Triumph, Suzuki motorsport experience.
US just got that. Honestly my only issue with Mazda is their old infotainment. They're not bad but not exactly "decently luxury" like they've been marketing themselves.
The 165PS 2.0 SkyActiv is a good engine, and easily powerful enough. People have just got used to turbos and can't be bothered to use the gears. Yes, you could buy the diesel, but you have to do big miles to get back the price difference, it's more nose-heavy and you open up a world of DPF issues. The diesels are also much less reliable.
I was hoping for a somewhat more substantial update. The CX-5 is looking rather dated by now. The infotainment screen and instrument binnacle need particular care.
I used to have CX-5. It was a blast to drive, but the infotainment system was garbage, and the seats were too firm for my tastes. If those things were fixed, it would be the perfect SUV.
a decent powertrain/torque (turbo) improvement is needed way before infotainment........they haven't even bothered adding the Skyactiv-X, which would be a big improvement. I eventually traded my Sport Nav 2018 one in after too many overtaking frustrations -- cracking stone leather interior, HUD and Bose audio were very good std features.
It,s comfortable SUV, Smooth acceleration is making comfort... Best car daily on the city, and holiday a little bit, hehe Nice content! Thumbs up from Autotune Indonesia . . .
when they say "supercharged" they really mean a small supercharger to boost efficiency, much like the one in the Skyactiv X Mazda 3 ( well, it is a Skyactiv X Engine ) Though it should be punchy enough honestly.
Kuga still doesn't have AWD in UK/EU unless you go for the top 2.0 auto diesel, unlike the previous gen Kuga -- bit of a dumb decision by Ford EU. The hybrid is CVT auto only too 🤷♂️
I tow a caravan here in the UK with a Kuga 2.0D, which has performed faultlessly and was thinking of buying a new one in 2022. However Ford have stopped making the diesels and the new cars are not good for towing. Also, the aircon stopped operating many years ago despite many attempts to fix it and the humidity and hot summer weather in the UK meant we nearly melted in the 40 degree heat we had this summer. This is why I'm late posting as I'm now looking at the Mazda, which is fine for towing and which I hope has good aircon. (my wife's Mazda 2 from 2012 still has perfect aircon).
Ford cars aren’t anywhere near premium level, I wouldn’t buy one after having the doors of a Transit rust through within 6 years, it was 20 years ago but put me off Ford for life.
Cylinder deactivation? Just done in software. Not much different to cutting off the fuel on the over-run, which all EFI engines have done since forever.
I'm an American viewer, so hearing an over 10 second 0-60 time sounds strange to me. Most of our cars come with uprated motors as standard compared to their European counterparts.
I'm sure the presenter here is absolutely delighted to continually receive comments based on her looks, and not on her abilities as a professional motoring journalist. So glad to still be living in 1998.
When has the world become so anal that you can’t comment on the attractiveness of someone presenting on a visual media?. There is of course a respectful way to do so. You are lying if you say it is not great to receive a comment on your attractiveness. The truth of life is that she may not have got as far if she wasn’t attractive. She is also a good motor journalist- you can be both. You are going to have to find another way to earn your Blue Peter White Knight badge.
Would much rather have the Hyundai Kona 1.6 L turbo and DCT. Hyundai has better reliability and warranty. Nice to see and hear the lovely Rebecca, as always.
The rear looks really huge ! It’s not really. She’s slid the driver seat as far forward as it’ll go. Secondly - when she spoke about the rear seats folding down to leave a flat floor it’s clearly not flat ! Who wrote this script ! Shocking ! The car is dirty too - couldn’t find bonnet catch nor the bonnet arm slot. Laughable review tbh
Please start reviewing base models, most of the ppl would lease or finance base models not premiums. Terrible vehicle, 2,5 makes a lot of noise, road noise, terrible MPG, 6 speed auto trans. small front seats, small driver space (reduce space between your food and gas pedal with brick pedal-this is serious safety issue) , front arm rest way behind incl. cup holders, ac controls are way down and unsafe to control the ac when you driving, side mirrors vibrate with 70 mph, if you have premium pack there is TWO fuel indicators next to each other lol, heated steering is only 1/4 of it, line keep assist doesn't work 90% of the time in the Citi or suburbans driving, terible on long drive, there is good things: great automated head lights (if equipped) automated wipers, heads up display (if I equipped) blin spot monitoring, ventilated front seats (if equipped) I wouldn't recommend this vehicle, for that money there is another better options on the market.
@@GeordiLaForgery not a turbo, contains and very small supercharger, but its part of the internal compression technology, doesn't boost the engine much, still only 180PS
most Japanese manufacturers do this, and have CVT autos, its to keep emissions down (fuel eco takes a hit), since they don't sell huge volumes like the US/EU builders, so they need to keep CO2 under control or face massive fines per car in EU. So we tend to get no turbos in most Japanese.
19" wheels? They look tiny in those huge wheel arches! Not a pretty car, with a distinctly average engine......Come on Mazda, you can do better than this!
YES, i would consider it...... i love cars who have their own character and don't join the mainstream

Nice to see Rebecca back 👌🤗
how is the manual transmission on this car? been looking for one and saw a really nice with a manual transmission.
Naturally aspirated engine = more reliability
More fun
Sadly the rear seats when folded Do Not lie flat. There’s a step!
Other than that good car.

Love that dress.
Nice review!
It is a realy good video
This car looks so good looking & much better looking than a Audi q5 or BMW X3 or Nissan X Trail or even Peugeot 5008
Audi q5 looks way better.

I heard there was a car in the video as well..
In the States the updates include better off road capability. Not in uk?!
at least it wasn't raining during this review 😁
One of the best mid size SUVs

cx5 deprecated? She is still beautiful ...
Enjoyed the Video Review. The Infotainment System definitely needs upgrading as It looks outdated. I expect there will be a all-new model In 2023
19" wheels?? Are you sure? They look rather small and the tires are very high...
Yes they’ve cocked up here- that car has grey alloy wheels which means it is an SEL which has 17” wheels..
I think 💬🤔 you never review Automatic Transmission... What I do see is Manual transmission..
I don't know what is the secret there.

This car also includes auto gearbox like in Singapore.
Every time I hear about a car with cylinder deactivation I'm reminded of the disastrous Cadillac V-8-6-4 of the early 1980s.
Please...have a land rover 2020 review..honestly waiting for your defender review.rebecca ..
As far as children are concerned, two is more than enough, the extra seat is for Fido. So a five seater car is good enough.
Too bad the 250 hp engine isn’t available there. Of course, we don’t get any manuals to play with here. Or diesels.
That's because you never bought any of them when they were made available to all of you so you only have yourselves to blame 🤷🏽♂️
Vin Diesel's Husband I have a manual.
brian hume I live in the US.
I’ve heard that the CX-50 will come with supercharged inline six engines.

Hi Becky, I’ll hang onto my 323 for a bit longer!
Please measure the boot space as not all drivers are able bodied and some need to get wheelchairs in the boot
Come on car gurus, when are you going to give Rebecca a car she can track? 😊

More nonsense to save a few grammes of CO2 and yet give the owner a real headache later on with very expensive repairs..

Why 2.0? It comes with 2.5 almost everywhere
Tax and expensive fuel. The USA has incredibly cheap fuel.
Manufacturers need to focus on EV infrastructures and drivetrain if they want to stay relevant in the next 5 years and beyond.
