Courtney was with a contracted band formed with great professional musicians. There's no doubting that technically this girl can outstand Courtney Love. She is on key and doesn't sing flat like Courtney tends to do.... But I'll take Courtney Love's performance of this song over this pop version any day. Courtney has that rock energy that this girl does not have at all. Rock music isn't about being technically correct at all. Its about feeling and attitude....and that's what I love about rock music. The best artist are always different and they don't just conform to the theological and technical sides of music. Courtney was also a fan of and heavily influenced by Fleetwood Mac. Fleetwood had 2 vocalists .. Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie. While Stevie did lead vocals on all the heavily vocal and cool material Christine did the pop stuff....so Fleetwood had it all covered. Whether you're a fan of Courtney or this singer "Malibu" is a cool song written by the talented Billy Corgan, Courtney, and Eric Erlandson. Erlandson’s edits to the chord progression are a MASSIVE improvement. The verse progression here is v boring and basic, and lacking the wistful quality that Eric’s version has.

I don't doubt Billy wrote a lot of the music on Celebrity Skin, or at least reshaped what they had already come up with. Courtney's ego is too big for her to admit it even if he did write most of it. Billy has a big ego too, so the two of them clash when they work together. I love Courtney and think Hole is severely underrated, but I'm also enough of a realist to acknowledge that she is not proficient on a technical level-the musical talent she has is completely raw. In any case, the lyrics are always hers, you can tell. She's distinct with her words. I like the Pumpkins too.

Actually I saw an interview that Courtney talks about the help Billy gave her on the album and his name is credited on six songs of the album(on the music). People say that Billy composed celebrity skin and Kurt live through this and what about Hole's first album Pretty on the inside? I mean if you listen Pretty on the inside, Live through this, celebrity Skin and Nobody's daughter can cleary see the same lyrics style.Even the themes are very recurrent on Courtney's lyrics. And as far as the sound, they all have very similar influences.

I never noticed how much Jeff Schroder's guitar playing sounds like Billy and James's guitar playing.
His other band is shoegaze/dream pop based, so he really is a great fit with The Pumpkins.

I don't doubt Billy wrote a lot of the music on Celebrity Skin, or at least reshaped what they had already come up with. Courtney's ego is too big for her to admit it even if he did write most of it. Billy has a big ego too, so the two of them clash when they work together. I love Courtney and think Hole is severely underrated, but I'm also enough of a realist to acknowledge that she is not proficient on a technical level-the musical talent she has is completely raw. In any case, the lyrics are always hers, you can tell. She's distinct with her words. I like the Pumpkins too.
TBH Courtney Love is one of those people who have no real talent, but she is able to surround herself with people with talent which she then siphons off from. Like when was the last time Courtney Love made any good music? Not since Billy Corgan left her and Kurt Cobain killed himself.

For me there's no mystery: Cobain wrote and compose an entire album for Courtney. Later on, Corgan wrote and compose an entire album for her too.
Actually I saw an interview that Courtney talks about the help Billy gave her on the album and his name is credited on six songs of the album(on the music). People say that Billy composed celebrity skin and Kurt live through this and what about Hole's first album Pretty on the inside? I mean if you listen Pretty on the inside, Live through this, celebrity Skin and Nobody's daughter can cleary see the same lyrics style.Even the themes are very recurrent on Courtney's lyrics. And as far as the sound, they all have very similar influences.

I dont think this song is supposed to be sung like this . Courtney had it , this girl has a better voice than courtney but it doesnt fit her, in this song.
