This is clearly a man who is trapped in his own mind... Insecure and annoyed with his surroundings, but tries desperately to express his thoughts; the symptoms of a genius. I love this guy.
So you detected that too? Theres nothing like a sophisticated gentleman like Mr. Waltz being irked and surrounded by a bunch of fat overgrown comic book geeks.
***** You will always live within the bound(arie)s of anything. Society, universe, you name it. I think your hero Hawking is aware of this fully - since he is bounded to his chair in the first place. I don't understand where you are coming from - for me an actor can be genius the same as quantum physicist or pharmaceutical prodigy. Different fields only. I mean we should be really glad for people like Christoph in this era where majority (read: half-idiots) seem to dominate the world and all what's in it - like movies.
kumarg83 than saw you not much Beards. Christoph want to be a changeable actor. But I'am not convinced of him in his US-Blockbuster. His sense of playing were americans locked to abite. sorry for my english!

In German-language interviews, his language is extremely elaborate, but also concise and elegant in a way. Austrians have a reputation for that, but he takes it one step further. If you ever happen to see any interview with him from German-language TV, look at the person interviewing him - more often than not, especially in smaller or more tabloid-like shows, they clearly have to concentrate very hard to follow him. Which makes it even more fun when his character talks the same way :D
What a charisma he has, very extraordinary. And too have so much hair in the face, and still being good looking.... Thats almost an enigma. Hope we get too see him more.
I love Quentin´s movies and his own way how he makes the movie. Christoph is brilliant and hopefully there will be some more of Tarantino-Waltz co-op in the future.
The thing I really love about this interview is that Christoph seems at ease. I feel like he usually doesn't talk about what he wants to talk,or the way he wants to talk, but here he looks very confortable. Good job, interviewers!
You can't be an idiot and successfully interview this guy. He's challenging, he's really present, he's clever and doesn't just spout off with the sound bites and hype. He truly listens and takes in the questions and takes them seriously. This makes him somewhat unique in the field.
He never should have lost the beard and long hair, it's hot. He's ridiculously eloquent and concise, obviously intelligent as hell without being at all condescending.
As being an European, actually German, who lives in Duesseldorf, the hometown of Mr. Waltz character in Django Unchained, thank you. It is nice to read your kind perspective.
which means translated: "I am born in Vienna, and I raised up in Vienna, and I went to school in Vienna, and I made the Matura (school leaving examination) in Vienna, and I studied in Vienna, and I started to work in Vienna, and I first played theater in Vienna, and I first worked at a movie in Vienna, and there are some more Viennese details. How much more Austrian do you want to have it?"
My friend is dating with a guy 36 years older than her and I was thinking it's disgusting. Now I want to have children with guy who's 38 years older than me... Oh Christoph, what have you done to me?
Individuals like him are the reason I love living in Europe, articulate, able to voice opinion without malice of others who may deviate from his own, smart and subjective. Great interview, with an excellent actor who actually cares about his craft.
I could see Christoph Waltz playing The Mad Hatter in one of the films in a Dark Knight spinoff trilogy that takes place some years after Rises and focuses on Robin John Blake as Nightwing. I think he would be Great and possibly be up for a third Oscar nomination!
He's so humble and sincere while his 'revelation' status and sudden success could've made him arrogant. Furthermore, he even cares and worries about the actors around him. That's a really outstanting actor.
He's just well spoken & thoughtful about his answers. Also unlike most Hollywood actors he formulates fresh, unique answers on the spot and attempts to actually interact with interviewers in a human conversational way instead of using the same robotic stock answers. What you brought up isn't a contradiction at all. He wants to leave his characters to viewer's own interpretations & he thinks people go to see themselves metaphorically (i.e. their own impression and interpretation of the movie).
Christoph Waltz is one of the most eminently likable actors currently working. Funny, deep, intelligent. And on top of that, he speaks 5 fucking languages.
This is clearly a man who is trapped in his own mind... Insecure and annoyed with his surroundings, but tries desperately to express his thoughts; the symptoms of a genius. I love this guy.
well said!! me too!!
So you detected that too? Theres nothing like a sophisticated gentleman like Mr. Waltz being irked and surrounded by a bunch of fat overgrown comic book geeks.
+IIIII47IIIII hawking is a victim, not genius.

He is such a delightful example of a down to earth, totally competent artist.
A Lovely gentleman and his theory is right about looking for yourself in the character, villain or hero, what a true artist this man is.
he is brilliant
As being an European, actually German, who lives in Duesseldorf, the hometown of Mr. Waltz character in Django Unchained, thank you. It is nice to read your kind perspective.

When the most interesting man in the world dies, he can take over for him.
yeah he nailed it with django... masterpiece. Best performance in the movie!
Individuals like him are the reason I love living in Europe, articulate, able to voice opinion without malice of others who may deviate from his own, smart and subjective. Great interview, with an excellent actor who actually cares about his craft.
Is he preparing for a Karl Marx movie?
This was before Django Unchained, so he probably grew that beard for it.
He's sooo great!!
Agreed. Between Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained this guy is just awesome.
I LOVE HIM! THE WORLD SHOULD REVOLVE AROUND HIM!
This guy is awesome
I could see Christoph Waltz playing The Mad Hatter in one of the films in a Dark Knight spinoff trilogy that takes place some years after Rises and focuses on Robin John Blake as Nightwing. I think he would be Great and possibly be up for a third Oscar nomination!

I love the way he goes from stilly speaking quiet to hand motions and slighty but still calm animated voice tones. So wish I could talk like that lol.
Remains me of Rade Šerbeđija.. I love this guy!
This man is the best
He's so humble and sincere while his 'revelation' status and sudden success could've made him arrogant. Furthermore, he even cares and worries about the actors around him. That's a really outstanting actor.
I LOVE this man.

He’s a lovely fellow.

Genuine class. The only shame is he's only now gained notoriety. I wish he'd been discovered 20 years ago.
This Man Is So Cool 🤩 I could listen to him all day 🥰 That Beard 😍❤

He seems very cuddly for some reason. What a gem
no wonder he became an Academy Award wining Actor....he is really remarkable..

So, when is Waltz going to play Santa Clause?

His role in Inglorious Bastards, omg! stunning portrayal.....
What a great actor what else has he done
Christoph Waltz is one of the most eminently likable actors currently working. Funny, deep, intelligent. And on top of that, he speaks 5 fucking languages.
